I'll tell you who is scared.

The GOP.

I do agree with that. All this talk about a revolution is from the people that didn't vote for Obama in the first place and don't want health care reform. Revolution kind of a threat in the face of fear.

They are about to witness the power of a mandate... the power of the majority.

I hope you're right. I mean, Obama and a Democratic Congress were elected to fulfill these promises. Let's get on with it! The GOP doesn't want to cooperate, Obama. Move forward without them is the only honorable choice.

Not that its gooing to come to that. People are just blowing steam. Cruise missles, F-22's, and Aircraft carriers belong to the Fed, not individual states. It just would not last any longer than a few days to be honest, if that. People are too used to the harmony they have here, even though most people take it for granted and dont realise how good we have it here.

If you wanna see cruise missles rain down on our soil though, by all means secede. Wont take but the first hour for all that support too turn right around and the state too be rejoined.

Amen brother!

On all points!

Hope you don't mean the same missiles that have rained down on Alqeada the last seven years.

Hasn't seemed to have broken their will to fight for what they believe in. What makes you think it will break the will of those seceding?

all-qaeda never had anything in the first place. The people in that part of the world barely have had power or clean water, let alone thing like online banking, the internet, a place where food just exists and you go pick it up in bulk, clean annd cheap running water, stable electricity, car washes, lawn care, designer clothes, video games, cable tv, theatres, state fairs and a host of other conviniences and luxuries Americans have just expected to be around for generations.

Too many people are used to the good life. Even something as simple as going back to milking a cow or having to walk everyday will cause many people to actually go into shock. Its like bribery on a massive scale.

You are a disgrace to the uniform!
The Federal Government is to be the glue that holds the states together. But that glue is wearing pretty thin. When we have idiots in power that employ a divisive policy-set you will see people voicing their concerns. If those concerns go unheard, you will see people do what they need to do in order to voice those concerns. If that includes exercising the State's 10th amendment RIGHT, then so be it!

The Constitution you are saying you are willing to kill people over has already been discarded by the Federal Government. The Federal Government's charge was to ensure the safety of the people of this country! Not legislate them how to lead every aspect of their lives.

You make a mockery of this Nation.

The only ones causeing instability annd disharmony are the ones talking about revolution because our leader is trying to pass reform that will assist the health of our entire population. Its kind of odd that a few of yall want to start a war for something that would even bring your health care costts down, but whatever.

See you on the field I guess, or not whatever.

There are a whole lot of posts in this thread that scare the crap out of me. Pure ignorance by some.

I can't believe people are still falling for the whole Republican vs. Democrat thing, I thought we were past all of that, they are 2 sides to the same coin, it's called controlled opposition and the true issue is the Government vs. the People.

For those of you screaming about public healthcare, why not:

1.) make it portable
2.) make it possible for pools of people to form to purchase healthcare insurance, thus making it more cost effective
3.) make MSA's a part of the national debate?

Healthcare is not a right.

The Federal Government is overstepping its bounds YET AGAIN with this crap.
It is as simple as that. Socialized ANYTHING is a disgrace to the Constitution of this Country.

It sickens me that military personnel wouldn't understand this. I mean, they swore to protect the integrity of that piece of paper.
I guess they never bothered reading the damned thing!

Yes but Military folks already HAVE socialized everything.

And our economy is all about socialized losses....

There were some, I won't disagree with that, but fear is not the slogan Republicans are always pushing around.

yeah wrong...just today 9/2/09,republicans came on MSNBC and said obamas health care plan will mean more deaths from breast cancer...yeah, no scare tactic there. the republicans and the media as well, are giving voice to every nut job scare tactic, while the good thing in the bill are hardly mentioned...this bill is going to make the insurance companies so much money...and it's all coming out of the average guys pocket in premiums. there is not going to be any public option, nor anything like all, and i mean all, the other industrialized countries have...the middle class is being turned into the poor class, just like all the wealthy had hoped would happen. thousands of more families are going to be without healthcare, not because it's not available, but simply because they will not be able to afford it. if you think its bad now, just wait. the republicans with the lowest majority in the senate in decades, still control the senate and the media, and the talking points. middle class can just kiss their @ss goodbye

Do people not realize how idiotic this whole "Majority Will to Power" crap is?

Its exactly why the United States was created as a Republic, where the Senators originally represented the States and the Electoral College elected the POTUS.

This kind of crap is what the founding fathers warned people about. This is the "tyranny of the majority" that Tocqueville said was more absolute than any autocratic dictator.

If there are no compromises or bipartisan efforts which leads to conservatives being disenfranchised and discriminated against, the country will tear itself apart.

It may not happen in the next few years, but seeds of discontent and revolt will be sewn.

I didn't say that.

You stated that socialized anything is unconstitutional and were upset the Military didn't take it more seriously.

I stated that the Military is itself one giant socialized entity, as is our economy (when it comes to losses only)

That's all.

So, I'm just trying to get this straight in my head...you advocate using military force against states that exercise their sovereign rights?

As someone mentioned above, this is a republic with the federal govt. acting as the glue that binds us, not shackles us.

So you and by extension, HunkaHunka with his "amen brother" post, really do advocate the use of force against the states for non-compliance with the federal govt.?

incredible...

yeah right, why would i want better pay, benefits, and some type of retirement, instead of becoming some low-paid, part-time, no-benefit worker at private companies...walmart workers are loving their jobs. next time, go and look what cars the workers of wal-mart are driving...they are not brand new fords, chevys, they are 10 or 15 year old nissan sentras, toyota tercels, or some clunker that the government wanted people to trade in, but wal-mart can't pay their workers more, because it would cut into the billions of dollars in profits every year. go talk to some of them about this and they will just shut-up, because they don't want to get fired from their p@ss-low paid job. oh, and by the way, the bailed-out bank CEOs are getting multi-million dollar bonuses, the same people who really control this country.

The "Dem vs Repub" argument is pretty ridiculous.
The vast majority of these politicians obviously do NOT give a crap what the American people think....whether or not you choose to believe it is completely up to you.

If it hasn't become painfully obvious to you that SOMETHING is going down in this country, that this isn't the country that our forefathers intended, and that corporations and banks are the ones calling the shots.....well, I frankly feel sorry for you.

I guess you missed the whole lawful orders instructions during training.

Regardless of that, any fighting on US soil would devastate the country economically and politically. Not only that, it would literally tear the US armed forces apart.

The US military is not going to be launching blitzkriegs on US states. We would not even "Shock and Awe" a state. We have far more damn sense than that.

In a scenario where state legislature and its governor approve secession, the most likely reaction will involve Federal Indictments and Law Enforcement. It will probably turn into a giant legal fiasco involving the federal courts all the way up to the Supreme Court.

Any paramilitary groups will be dealt with by Federal Law Enforcement, like the FBI.

If the federal government, in a moment of insanity, tried to use the military against the states, one of two things will likely happen. The officer corps of the US military and the brass at the Pentagon are very conservative. This would be a huge factor in reaction by the top leadership.
The first possibility is mass resignations, which is what happened in the Civil War. The second possibility is coup d'etat.

Considering General Franks' remarks when he retired and our involvement with conservative military coups in Latin America, I would consider the second highly likely. The US military industrial complex, which is dominated by conservatives, would not sit idly watching either.

When one steps back and looks at the real players in the country, I think the more libertarian secessionists types will be left on the sidelines of any potential future civil conflict. Instead a struggle between pro military and pro industrial nationalist forces versus globalist progressive socialists seems more likely.

You really shouldn't underestimate the will and heart of a person willing to fight for what he/she believes in.
