GOP senator warns of 'minor revolution' over health care

politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com

After a month of town halls back home, Alexander said it's clear to him and other Republicans that Americans are "scared to death" about the sweeping policy changes coming from Washington this year and the massive debt they are creating.

Alexander warned there would be "a minor revolution in this country" if Democrats try to "ram" a health care overhaul using a legislative tool called reconciliation, which would allow a bill to pass with 50 votes instead of 60.

I'll tell you who is scared.

The GOP.

They are about to witness the power of a mandate... the power of the majority.

I hope you like Universal Healthcare because the democratic majority *will* pass Kennedy Care.

The article goes on

Alexander also complained the White House has cut Republicans out of talks.

"Either they don't know how to operate in a bipartisan way or they don't want to operate in a bipartisan way," he said.

HAH! The party of No has not brought any real reform to the table. They have simply fanned the flames of the ignorant masses.

What a ruse...

LOL. Come on my friend, Do you really think the Dems would let them introduce their real reform?

If they do, just make sure you don't make no mistakes on your income tax.

The GOP is always scared unless they have control in hand.

Honestly, I wish the GOP were more willing to take the high road and figure this one out themselves.

But they have no interest in it. They don't care about anything really other than having power and wresting it from the hands of anyone else who has it.

Oh well...

Why do you think there's so much infighting right now? The only thing that the GOP is centered around on is seeing Obama fail.

FEAR! Their favorite method as always, and they go back to it when they don't have control.

Vice versa, the Dems only care about power and keeping it. And in order to keep it they need to make the Republicans look inept and as non-caring.

No different than what the Reps did when they were in control of Congress.

As far as Healthcare, we will just have to see how everything works out. But even you must admit that the time to pass something is getting shorter by the day.

Starting in Jan, it's time to start listening to the polls.

Why do you act like it is a one way street? Do you mean to tell me that the Dems weren't out to make Bush fail?

Haha... he didn't need any help from the dems.

No. I think with the number of Dems who actually VOTED FOR THE WAR! It's hard to paint a picture of the dems trying to make Bush fail...

I have to disagree....this isn't a Dem VS Rep thing. It's a government VS the people issue. The Dems and the Reps BOTH want all powerful control and they use the same vehicle to try and get it. Fear.

Jeeze how long have we been going on about "revolution" or "marshel law"? Every time its going to happen soon, tomorrow, anytime now... I mean seriously if you think you have the support to start a revolution get it going already, we're waiting.

There were some, I won't disagree with that, but fear is not the slogan Republicans are always pushing around.

The Democrats can pass whatever they like, but by that same TOKEN the States can exercise their 10th amendment right, and not follow or implement what the FEDERAL government dictates.

The STATES can also Secede, if they so choose.

My question is WILL the democrats, go after BLOOD, and actually send FEDERAL TROOPS risking and KILLING their own people into States that want to Secede, SO THAT THEY CAN HAVE THEIR SOCIALIST PROGRAM?

Texas is not going to secede.

They'll remain apart of the United States.

Funny enough, I find it ironic that only now after their ex-governor no longer president, they decide to "think about seceding."

Texas understands one thing: THEY WOULD FAIL.

They are not a nation. They cannot survive on their own.

Imagine what would happen...

Well we have already seen that as with Texas, its' a VERY small minority which wants to secede... so I don't think we have to worry about that much to be honest.

Thanks for the strawman.

Who says, I'm only talking about TEXAS...

Here's a small list of States so far...

Go ahead and keep rolling those eyes...

Secession is treason. If anyone wants to cede, than get ready to be rocked. Besides, Texas has a bill every single year for secession, and its always voted down. Just an FYI, if you do end up in a secessionist state, just stay indoors. I wont be the only one in the ranks making sure states do not leave the union.

We suppposed to be adding more states anyways.

Treason according to who? To Bill Kristol and the other neocons, or the leftist socialist, maybe. But, this Country is a republic, and if the States feel their powers are being ignored by the Federal Government then it is within their own rights to act. And Secession is an option they have...

I guess KILLING your own people is perfectly acceptable option, so long as they FOLLOW and are told what to do...

I WILL follow the orders that are given to me to preserve the Union, stability and peace. Secession causes instability and disharmony. So, I will do what I am ordered to do to preserve the Union.

Not that its gooing to come to that. People are just blowing steam. Cruise missles, F-22's, and Aircraft carriers belong to the Fed, not individual states. It just would not last any longer than a few days to be honest, if that. People are too used to the harmony they have here, even though most people take it for granted and dont realise how good we have it here.

If you wanna see cruise missles rain down on our soil though, by all means secede. Wont take but the first hour for all that support too turn right around and the state too be rejoined.

Then YOU ignore the Constitution. Therefore YOU are the Traitor. If you are willing to give up your life, to enforce TYRANNY...then SO BE IT.

I'm afraid you are wrong here. Yes YOU may fire a shot and kill innocent men, women and children, but most soldiers will NOT dare attack FELLOW AMERICANS...who wish to seceede peacefully, and that is how it is going to happen.

The resolutions are happening in peaceful settings SO IF THERE IS GOING TO BE MURDER AND MAYHEM it will have to BE instigated BY D.C. and not the States enforcing their own 10th Amendment.

Texas will not drop bombs on D.C., it will be D.C. DROPPING bombs on their own soil.
