Hi all!

I was wondering if anyone knew about any amazing yet fairly obscure Icelandic bands?

I'm up to my eyeballs in Sigur Rós at the moment, easily one of the most influential bands I've come across.

Also listening to:
Björk
Amiina
Múm

So, any others that are worth tracking down of the crazy or slow-motion rock type?

All suggestions would be much appreciated!

So here's some Sigur Rós (Glósóli) to get you started:

Fairly "obscure" Icelandic bands? - do they have many of those there?

Thanks for the videos - nice to get an insight on Icelandic "obscure" music!

The only obscure Icelandic band I know of, and comes to mind is Sugarcubes with Björk, which has been posted - she's really obscure & weird!

No! I don't know many Icelandic bands or artists...which is a shame!

Even if I usually hate Eurovision, this year I found the Icelandic girl: Jóhanna Guðrún Jónsdóttir's song to be quite beautiful!

Nothing special! rather ordinary tune but nice for being the usual Eurovision crap! - call me simple, but I really like the beautiful voice of this Viking girl!

I really enjoy her Spanish version of the song - beautiful voice!

The original English version:

Sorry mate! I know this isn't what you wanted and was looking for - but she's cute & from Iceland!

Cool, cheers guys!

I wasn't aware that Bjork had a band before going solo, looks really fun!

Right then, time to get onto the ole itunes!

Icelandic original version. It was the B-side on the English version. I heard the Icelandic version first and will always prefer it...pure music with a hint of the dark subject matter...still have the original 7" with orange sleeve and lyrics

The Sigur Ros album is up there with OK Computer. The video is F**** up cos the ending is cut short....40 seconds is all the difference

Svefn-G-Englar is one of my all time favourite albums..

Have you heard anything by Amiina? They play with Sigur Ros, but have some lovely stuff they've done on their own:

Mezzoforte's "Garden party" (83) will always be a "classic" for me. Even in December...
