You seem to be uncharacteristically contradicting yourself.

No, I wasn't. He wanted me to defend her as an ideal candidate. I wouldn't be dragged into that trap.

If she isn't going to be a candidate, would that not dispel the myth as to why she prematurely resigned as Gov?

She may be a candidate. She may not. Until it happens...moot point.

I don't know from any myths.

Change the topic. Did you not read the post above yours by Semperfortis?

Discuss the issues, not the members.

Nope. Didn't see the post above mine. Was just responding to something you said earlier. I just started reading posts from where I left off.

So let's discuss the issues. What's the issue here? This is all that is said in the OP:

Sarah Palin power is awesome!
This is why the *snip* toss and turn all night.
Clearly, a landslide victory is on the way thanks to Sarah.
Americans love her.

Followed by a lovely picture of her (I'll admit she is cute. I'm a girl. I'd do her) and this:

Go Sarah!
Sarah Palin Story

The story just goes on to say that she got all these invitation and has a book coming out.

So, what's the issue that we are supposed to discuss here?

From my guess, the OP just wanted to say how wonderful Sarah Palin is. Some of us don't agree. Some of you do. Therein lies the issue. Some of us are having trouble understanding why you think she's so great and have requested that you elaborate, but no one seems to know anything about Sarah, but she's somehow fit to run the country regardless of this.

Every time we ask whats so great about Sarah Palin and what makes her such a great pick for POTUS responders either:

1. Reaffirm that she is without saying why
2. Go on about how bad Obama is (which pretty much no one in this thread disagrees with that)
3. Call us liberal (in a non-respectful tone) and/or Obama defenders

We've stated time and time again that this is not true (well except that I am a liberal). After defending ourselves we have requested AGAIN what is so great about Palin and we one, if not all, of the same 3 responses AGAIN.

Maybe this thread is dead. Maybe we'll never understand what is so great about Palin. Maybe some will never understand that it's possible to not like a republican and a) not be a liberal and/or b) not like Obama.

So the main topic is her numerous invitations to all these events. She's been making commitments to speak, but hasn't been showing up. For at least four of them.

Interestingly, her staff keeps saying she never agreed to show/speak. I find that awfully odd that all these people are promising to attendees that she will be speaking without her even making a commitment to them. This reminds me of something my grandma used to always say: "I'm not crazy, everyone else is".

So Sarah Palin isn't a flake. But everyone keeps making up that she's even going to be there.

Source:
Palin Misses Another Expected Public Appearance

So she quite the Governors office and now won't even show up to events that she committed to. But all these organizers are just lying. She never said she'd be there. Convenient.

But she sure has time for FaceBook. At least we know what her priorities are.

Then I don't know how you could have missed it.

For starters, how about the fact that she is in such demand that se has received over 1,000 invitations to speak?

From my guess, the OP just wanted to say how wonderful Sarah Palin is. Some of us don't agree. Some of you do. Therein lies the issue.

No, that is the issue that *you* want to discuss. And once you have created your first distraction, it leads to your second straw man distraction:

Every time we ask whats so great about Sarah Palin and what makes her such a great pick for POTUS responders either:

Seems to me that *you* are the one who is screaming that she wouldn't make a great POTUS and expecting people to defend her as worthy.

She will do good things for the country simply because she is not running for office but is using her name recognition to 'out' the liberal socialist policies for the disaster they are.

We've stated time and time again that this is not true (well except that I am a liberal). After defending ourselves we have requested AGAIN what is so great about Palin and we one, if not all, of the same 3 responses AGAIN.

I have stated several times that she has a good energy policy. I've been ridiculed because 'it won't save the world'.

I don't care about the world. I care about the US.

Want more?
-She is fiscally conservative, a fresh departure from the liberal spend-us-into-oblivion policies we now have.

-She is for strong national defense, a fresh departure from the defense cuts proposed by Obama.

-She is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. 'Nuff said.

So she quite the Governors office and now won't even show up to events that she committed to. But all these organizers are just lying. She never said she'd be there. Convenient.

What a load of bs. Another lie from you. She has not attended certain functions, but the reasons are many, even the fact that maybe her staff if inadequate and needs to be replaced.

But to accuse her of wimping out like you do is disingenuous and smacks of partisan politics.

Pretty easy to miss something on a page I didn't even get to yet after starting on the page I left off on as I already said.

For starters, how about the fact that she is in such demand that se has received over 1,000 invitations to speak?

And so are countless other politicians who aren't all that great either. Liberal and conservative alike.

From my guess, the OP just wanted to say how wonderful Sarah Palin is. Some of us don't agree. Some of you do. Therein lies the issue.

That's not the issue *I* want to discuss. That was the issue many people in this thread wanted to discuss. Whether or not she's what her supporters say she is. I don't know why I have to explain this. You've been pretty active in this thread. It perplexes me how you assume I'm the only one with this problem.

She will do good things for the country simply because she is not running for office but is using her name recognition to 'out' the liberal socialist policies for the disaster they are.

So her only purpose is to go around the country and gossip about how bad the liberals are? That's her new career choice? Her "higher calling"? She can do Alaskans more good by doing exactly what many others are already doing?

Therein lies a big problem. You want a quick fix for a problem that will last as long as the Earth is around but you and people like Sarah Palin only care about the state of the world as long as your on it. To hell with everybody else.

Want more?
-She is fiscally conservative, a fresh departure from the liberal spend-us-into-oblivion policies we now have.

No she's not. From a newspaper in her own state:

newminer.com

But state general fund spending has risen sharply in the 21 months since Palin took office. The budget she signed earlier this year for fiscal 2009 spent $5 billion from the state’s general fund — a 34 percent increase over the budget she proposed for fiscal 2008 not long after taking office.

The increase rises to about 58 percent if the roughly $1 billion approved by Palin and the Legislature in last month’s special session for an energy rebate to Alaska residents and for other items is included.

It goes on to talk about how the state saw drastic revenue increases from taxed oil companies but Sarah found ways to spend it instead of saving it. That's not fiscal conservatism.

More from the article:

The size of the budget made some of her fellow Republicans in the Legislature nervous, with two House Republicans saying they would have voted against this year’s spending plan had the GOP caucus not had rules in place to punish those who stray from the party on that one key issue.

-She is a strong supporter of the Second Amendment. 'Nuff said.

That's cool with me.

What a load of bs. Another lie from you. She has not attended certain functions, but the reasons are many, even the fact that maybe her staff if inadequate and needs to be replaced.

But to accuse her of wimping out like you do is disingenuous and smacks of partisan politics.

It's not a lie. Did you even read the article? She didn't attend functions she committed to. How did I lie? Are you saying she actually showed up but people are just saying that she isn't. What does an inadequate staff have to do with not showing up for an event and then saying she never said she would be there anyway.

I didn't say she wimped out. Where did I say that? I said she didn't show up. Her staff said about EVERY SINGLE one that she never said she'd be there. I said that was very interesting that the organizers of four completely different events would tell attendees and advertise that she was going to be there months in advance knowing full well she never even said she was going to be there.

They must have been in collusion with each other or just hoped she would magically appear if they thought about it hard enough.

The issue was about the numerous invitations she getting. She committing to some and not even showing up.

Everything you said to defend her not showing up is nothing but an assumption by you. You have no way of knowing why she didn't show up. Neither do I. But she didn't. On four different occasions.

I think it shows a pattern in her behavior. Sarah Palin only does what is good for Sarah Palin.

Then stop bringing it up, esp. when talking to me.

So her only purpose is to go around the country and gossip about how bad the liberals are? That's her new career choice? Her "higher calling"? She can do Alaskans more good by doing exactly what many others are already doing?

It's a worthy cause. The country needs as many voices as it can get to stop Obama from destroying it.

You don't like it? Too bad. It's not your place to dictate what she does with her life.

Therein lies a big problem. You want a quick fix for a problem that will last as long as the Earth is around but you and people like Sarah Palin only care about the state of the world as long as your on it. To hell with everybody else.

Wrong. The problem is, tree-huggers like you live in a dream world. You want to force your green vision down the throats of America regardless of the cost to us and our children.

And the budget includes $1billion in rebates to citizens! I know that that must seem vile to a tax and spend liberal, but it is the people's money, after all.

JSO you are a masterful debater and fluent at the art of deflection.

I humbly ask a simple YES or NO question, please no dodgeball.

Do you agree that the claim of "Death Panels" as levied by Ms. Palin regarding the proposed HC reform bill was an untruthful statement? YES or NO.

YES = she lied.
NO = she did not lie.

I look forward to the benefit of your reply. Thanks.

I'll wait too for JSO's "simple" yes or no answer to your question. I have a feeling it won't happen soon with the bullet proof vest he's been wearing.
The issue of whether she lied or not probably does not matter to or is rationalized by most Palin fans. Let's see.

Certainly, thanks for the reminder.

I'll ignore the OP's infantile comments and strive to focus on the "story."

Firstly, I find it odd that people would pay to hear incendiary bigots when they can watch Glenn Beck and listen to Rush Limbaugh for free. But ignorance knows no bounds.

Regarding the article, let's imagine half of the engagements come to fruition and she actually shows up.

500 x $100,000.00/ea = $50 Million dollars. That's buys a whole lotta whale blubber where I come from.

Would she still speak for the common folk with that kinda moola?

Somebody who shall remain nameless got rescued by the powers that be.

Back to the topic at hand. Palin is scheduled to receive 100,000 dollars for her speaking engagement in Hong Kong. Not bad for an hour's worth of work.

Palin 'death panel' claim sets Truth-O-Meter ablaze

www.politifact.com...

As a substantive matter, this might be the stupidest thing ever written about health care policy. Just two weeks after she implored journalists to "quit making things up," Palin has manufactured the idea of a "death panel" out of thin air. As Time's Karen Tumulty noted, "Yes, such a system would indeed be downright evil. Which is why no one is proposing anything like it. Let's repeat: No one is proposing anything like it."

AND JUST FOR FUN.........

Hitler's testicles and Palin's death panels

Therein lies the brilliance of Sarah Palin's death panels. Having heard this rumor countless times now, casual observers of politics (a.k.a. the majority of the American public) will come to believe that the rumor is true.

Lying, unfortunately, can be smart politics. And countering those lies by pointing out their falseness -- that won't be enough...

Yes!
I posted the story because it's incredible!
Sarah Palin in no longer the governor of Alaska.
Yet Republicans are asking for her help to get re-elected and take back
control of the House of representatives and Senate.
Sarah Palin and Dick Cheney are 2 superstars.
Sarah scored a knock out with her "Death Panel" charge.
They jumped up and ripped "end of life counseling" out of bill.
I think Sarah Palin and Dick Cheney should team up and give
speeches at Republican events.
Liz Cheney should tag along.

How do you feel about Sarah Palin taking $100,000 to speak in Communist China? And do you think, during this speaking engagement, that she will be courageous enough to speak out against China's persecution of Christians?
