i saw a commercial for this IHC and decieded to go to the webiste, i signed up for some lottery mainly because i curious. and then they sent me this email.

As the Communications Director of the Institute for Human Continuity, I'd like to thank you for taking an active role in preparing yourself for 2012. Please note your ticket is only valid for one person. Therefore, we strongly suggest that you encourage your friends and family to register for lottery numbers at

The IHC has uncovered evidence indicating that the disasters of 2012 are both real and unavoidable. We believe with 94% certainty that exactly four years from today, cataclysmic events will devastate our planet and many who inhabit it. December 21, 2012 cannot be ignored.

Though the future is uncertain, there are several things we can and must do to prepare. You have already begun by entering the IHC lottery and visiting our website. In the coming weeks, I will be hosting an online discussion during which I will answer your questions and provide additional knowledge on how you can continue to prepare. You may submit your written questions to me via twitter and email. We will also be accepting video questions and will have more details for you in the coming weeks.

I look forward to receiving your questions and working together to ensure that the end is just the beginning.

The IHC is a ficticious site based off the upcoming movie 2012. The site is owned by Sony Pictures which is also the production company for the movie.

This site was first launched in August of 2008. Nothing to see here.

Nothing strange at all.

Cloverfield did this same type of marketing ploy. How do you think a horrible movie such as Cloverfield did so well at the box office?

I will go and watch this movie, I just hope it is 100% better then Cloverfield was.

This is an Alternate Reality Game that is being used to promote the movie.

An ARG site, UnFiction has an entire sub-forum devoted to the game.

While the concept of an ARG may be new to some of you reading this, ARGs have been around for quite a while & are a LOT of fun to play.

I've been involved in many of them & each one has been an experience I will never forget.

Try it out, you may find you like it

BTW, the video cut off *just* before the guy was going to reveal the amazing secret. I suppose the secret was that Sony owns the site?

It may be entertaining, but not a bonafied to-the-point quality film with good actors interested in telling the story. I was initially so excited a few years ago to see a movie was being made on the subject, but was also wary of the possibility of it being another cheesy special effects movie. That has been confirmed judging by the trailers and commercials. Let us know how it is.
