Ah, for the good old days... I remember when we were seriously taught this stuff in school. "Duck and cover" - hide under your desk when the nukes go off, and you'll be fine. I think I actually used to believe those videos...

I am reminded of an ironic list of steps to take, in case of nuclear attack. It is a long list, telling you to find a safe place, sit under a solid object, and so forth and so on. The final step is to put your head between your legs and kiss your @$$ goodbye. I always felt that list was far more truthful.

This is a modern version of how to survive disasters, from HHS.
