An otaku is a person who has an obsessiveness with a particular interest, but most of the time, it means a person who has an interest in anime, manga, and video games.

And no, it's not coming from the left. Conservatives have been trying to ban eroge in Japan for a while now.

It's history, it doesn't need to be proven.

The LDP had one of three PMs during that time, but then so did the Socialists.

It was neither a socialist or LDP government - the cabinets were multiparty, as were the votes. You seemed to be saying that the LDP was in control through that period - and they weren't.

I don't claim to a expert on Japan never the less my take on the election would be what follows . Despite MacArthur's post war reforms Japan remained a country with a conservative outlook bucking the trend seen elsewhere around the globe . The reasons for Japan previous dominate political culture were or in some cases are rooted in Japanese cultural , Cold War politics and dissolving Hirohito of any war blame . Longer then average life expectancy has allowed the older generations to still control the country electoral future longer then usual .

And once again, it was short lived. Three years, and three different prime ministers, one of them being from the LDP means the other two had little to no effect.

Thank you for your input.
I'm glad to see someone from Japan replying here. I'm sure we will get a perspective not available on the internet sources.

I admit to not knowing much about how Japan is ruled.
But, knowing it is one of the largest economies in the world, and that it may now be turning more left in its government, one can't help but wonder the effect it will have on Japan and this on the world.
