Title says it all really.

If you had to pick a song to represent yourself / be your 'theme music', what would it be and why?

For me it would probably be Weak and Powerless by A Perfect Circle. Not because I consider myself such, but I consider the song to be about the powerlessness a person can feel when against the world.

I'd love to see so many things change. I'd like to 'fix' things, so to speak, but in the face of such ingrained hate and twisted tradition it is quite easy to feel weak and powerless.

Warning - Some may find the video disturbing

Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here

So, so you think you can tell
Heaven from Hell ,
Blue skys from pain.
Can you tell a green field
From a cold steel rail?
A smile from a veil ?
Do you think you can tell?

And did they get you to trade
Your heros for ghosts?
Hot ashes for trees?
Hot air for a cool breeze?
Cold comfort for change?
And did you exchange
A walk on part in the war
For a lead role in a cage ?

How I wish, how I wish you were here.
We're just two lost souls
Swimming in a fish bowl,
Year after year,
Running over the same old ground .
What have we found?
The same old fears.
Wish you were here.

To love a person that you can't reach physically is extremely frustrating: i'm of course one of the two lost souls swimming in a fish bowl

But i keep hoping.
It's incredible how one can desire to even just hug someone.
I know that it's dedicated to Syd Barrett, but whenever i listen to it i DONT think about Syd Barrett: I think about someone else.
Yes, this song is me

Nice choice, and I know the feeling man. By the sounds of it we are in similar circumstances. Keep that head high

Ohhh embarrassing. Boyfriend says:

Boyfriend also says "Lol, baby, it wouldn't be metal."

So embarrassing. I love metal, though! Dunno why I got stuck with Lady Gaga...

I would give myself something more like The Beatles, Nirvana, Yael Naim, Colbie Calliat, or Sarah Bareilles. Or Godsmack or Metallica. I love music, I couldn't pick myself.

Damn, it was a tough call. It was either Electric Wizard's "We Hate You", Isis' "Hive Destruction", Mouth of the Architect's "Carry On", Cannibal Corpse's "Death Walking Terror", or Cryptopsy's "Angelskingarden".

Had to settle with Gojira's "The Art of Dying". Why? Eh, the lyrics and riffing sum up my feelings, pretty much, as cheesy as it sounds.

Breathing slowly, mechanical heartbeat
Losing contact with the living
Almighty TV plugged, hybrid empty brain
Don't see anything real in the game
The tension is building constantly
No reason just a reflex I have, driven by clockwork
I try to keep an eye open
And I realize I haven't closed my eyes in a long time

Neglected emotions lead to catastrophic voyage on the other side
I have been given so much stress and lack of confidence
I've been given the gift of so small hope deep inside
I haven't closed my eyes in a long time, I am trying

I cannot stomach these forms and colors anymore
But I'm here to continue, after all I have been through
I try to keep my eyes open, I am realizing
This life and death more precious than anything

I won't bring no material in the after life
Take no possessions, I would rather travel light
I'm of this kind that kills all day
But I don't know yet how to die

Art of dying, is the way to let all go
Within I practice in the secret of my soul
My shape in the reflector
Has now for ever, a life on it's own

I've never heard of Gojira before but I had to post to say how amazing the intro to that song is. Talk about building tension. Awesome guitar work too.

Everyday convince myself of everything I can and can't believe
Everyday you feel every crime just stare up at the sky and wonder why
Hold on to your promise you can use it for a crutch
Stand by while all your dreams are trampled in the dust
Leave now before your slick machines begin to rust
Last chance farewell among us
Everyday you get a little bit older and everything gets hard you wonder why
Everyday you feel every crime an endless shocking show on the parade
Where are the Aliens?
We're the Aliens

This song came out at a defining time in my life and it fits nicely I think.

I have a terrible habit of saying things that I didn't mean..

Somewhere in my synapses, must be a coding error, a genetic defect if you will.

I think one thing, and when the thoughts finally make their way down and pass through my lips it has morphed into something else, and sometimes this causes unnecessary drama and a lot of time spent on trying to explain myself

So, I thought about it, and this song came to mind, which on occasion should be played prior to me opening my yap

One of my faves from that band, so I have taken some creative license in my description of myself ...the words embellished & sensationalized comes to mind...

OK, I just wanted to hear the song

Now that's a nice choice: i confess you that i'm a lil undecided now, lol

Rolling stones are the WILD BEAST of music, i love them, lovelovelove them.
How about Start Me Up ?

Nice thread-

My pick is

Who made up all the rules
We follow them like fools
Believe them to be true
Don't care to think them throu

Do you see what I see
Why do we live like this
Is it because it's true
that ignorance is bliss

*EDITED* because I didn't explain why I chose this song.

Well, all my life I've been wondering and thinking about Existence, who rules the world?, why most people are 'happily owned'?
do/act/live as they tell them?

And this song is about being conscious of your life and questioning everything.

In my path, I've found answers that satisfied my hunger for knowledge and helped me understand the reality we live in- however I'll never stop questioning everything. Even what I now believe to be true.
