"WHO is certainly putting the fear of [God] in people with this type of release," said William Muraskin, a professor of urban studies at Queens College in New York, who is a specialist in international health. "The description by the WHO is similar to lung infections that claimed so many young people during the 1918 pandemic."
The World Health Organization warned Friday that doctors around the world are now reporting a severe form of swine flu that goes straight to the lungs of otherwise healthy young people -- but some infectious disease experts said the alarm could be unwarranted.

I'd rather have them tell me about these things than pander to the masses and say that everything is fine.
Yes causing panic is bad, but not having any information at all is worse don't you think?
I wonder just how ugly H1N1 will get this flu season. Hopefully we have a dud season and people come out fine, then they can put these fears to rest like West Nyle and SARS.
I agree that we will be seeing a whole lot more of shock media reports on this in the very near future. As they begin the mandatory vaccinations and what not.
Bet you any money they'll start in the schools.

Just a shot in the dark, as I can't confirm, but I think the difference here are differences - plural.
A man-made virus for starters.
The fed's about to crash, taking the ponzi stock market with it
man-made climate change that somehow's goes hand in hand with population (just recalling UN calling for pop. reduction a while back).
more gov't control that's ebbing away our rights
nationalized gov't, which nullifies our constitution - which I'm betting they can't wait to burn in front of the masses.
Who benefits?
the WHO benefits.
WHO is putting the fear of God in people
