A treasured piece at the Dutch national museum - a supposed moon rock from the first manned lunar landing - is nothing more than petrified wood, curators say.

It was given to former Prime Minister Willem Drees during a goodwill tour by the three Apollo-11 astronauts shortly after their moon mission

bad news: moon landing was a hoax.

good news: the moon is forested! I'm selling timber shares for all those interested...

Seriously, though, honest mistake or someone out to make some easy money? Might be time to inventory all those other 'moon' rocks out there. If I had spent a few billion on a trip somewhere I'd probably be pretty careful about keeping track of the souvenirs I picked up along the way.
