Bill would give president emergency control of Internet

news.cnet.com

Internet companies and civil liberties groups were alarmed this spring when a U.S. Senate bill proposed handing the White House the power to disconnect private-sector computers from the Internet.

They're not much happier about a revised version that aides to Sen. Jay Rockefeller, a West Virginia Democrat, have spent months drafting behind closed doors. CNET News has obtained a copy of the 55-page draft (excerpt), which still appears to permit the president to seize temporary control of private-sector networks during a so-called cybersecurity emergency.

I love this new administration!
Cutting off the internet is huge. And our old friends from the Rockefeller family are obviously giddy about this it seems. The internet is a last bastion of free speech to people all over the world. If one person has the ability to stifle that, we are all in trouble. Even if Obama didn't abuse this, some other president, some other time would. And that is something we all here, should be very concerned about.

But, the "Internet", as a single entity, does not exist so how can someone take complete control over it?

What this bill does it give the President power to take over individual networks within the United States, which is no where near the same thing.

How about a virus to infect every single computer connected to the INTERNET.

The interned have one big problem we are all connecte in many ways that we believe.

Remember that all the technology to do such damage and wonders comes from the government research and black projects budget.
