I find this account of the state of healthcare in America compelling:

www.nytimes.com...

One way to do that is to deny requests for expensive procedures. A second is “rescission” — seizing upon a technicality to cancel the policy of someone who has been paying premiums and finally gets cancer or some other expensive disease. A Congressional investigation into rescission found that three insurers, including Blue Cross of California, used this technique to cancel more than 20,000 policies over five years, saving the companies $300 million in claims.

As The Los Angeles Times has reported, insurers encourage this approach through performance evaluations. One Blue Cross employee earned a perfect evaluation score after dropping thousands of policyholders who faced nearly $10 million in medical expenses.

So death panels may exist but these are the product of the current corrupt system and not Obama's invention.

Insurance Reform Needed!

The "argument" of a "public option" needs to change from how good or bad the pubic option will be to "Why" do we need a public option when we have a perfectly good "Federal Employee Insurance" program.

We pay taxes to support Federal jobs AND their benefit plans... Why don't WE get the option of the same plan at the same cost as Federal Employees?

Why are we getting the (real or perceived) sub-standard "public option"?

We Need insurance reform but we don't need a sub-standard public option.

Demand the same coverage as our Federal Employees!!!!!

You pay taxes, why should YOU get stuck with something sub-standard?

If the public option is so good, why did congress vote to be EXEMPT from it and stay with the Federal Employee plan?

You know why... Demand Better! Demand Equality!

We pay the taxes, we support the Federal Jobs, We should have access to the Federal Insurance Plan at the same cost!

Yes.

You see, public discourse doesn't even reach to this level, thanks to the GOP fear campaign. Somehow federal employees get adequate levels of care. Must be possible to do it right for most people, I would think. Instead, we hear nonsense about death panels.

Yes, It is my new message. Why should we be given something different... unless it is sub-par and I have to believe it is since Congress voted to make damned sure they were EXEMPT from it.

Time to get everyone to stop throwing insults and party lines and start Demanding better!
