Washington (AP) -- Astronomers have found what appears to be a gigantic suicidal planet.

The odd, fiery planet is so close to its star and so large that it is triggering tremendous plasma tides on the star. Those powerful tides are in turn warping the planet's zippy less-than-a-day orbit around its star.

The result: an ever-closer tango of death, with the planet eventually spiraling into the star.

I dont usually post threads like this but this one caught my attention.

Isnt the universe AWESOME!?

Stories like this one make me kinda sad that I was born in this era. I want to be out there exploring! The universe is indeed awesome and we know so little about it.

Great find

The universe is indeed a fascinating place! I love all the new discoveries we are always making. I agree with the previous poster saying he wishes he could be out there exploring. I feel so sad that I most likely (most probably definitely) will never be able to see anything like that for real. (like not in pics or videos or just speculation)
