The Home Office confirmed it was "considering" giving it to cops in England and Wales.

Not the most interesting piece of news published recently however just consider how long it is until these are used on protesters, citizens, bystanders...you.

I particularly have a problem with the quote regarding the Home Office's consideration of whether or not to issue the taser shotgun as I've seen with my own eyes during a week's work experience in various areas of the police cabinets containing boxes of taser shotguns.

Believe me, The Home office has already made there decision.

man...i feel sorry for you brits, you guys are good eggs, but your government is worse then ours as far as civil liberties. it's a wonder they don't have neighborhoods surrounded by barb wire there. oops, maybe that's coming next....come out to california, and i'll buy you a few pints to soften your misery. pity you guys have to worry about this, when so much else is already loaded on your plate. i'll drink an ale tonight in support of you.

Here is a link to the x12lls mossberg. My question for everyone is that at what point does the use of nonlethal control devices become tourture. The sight of this shotgun alone is enough to scare most city folks. People will think that live rounds are being fired at them. Also the pain that this device will cause on impact is rediculous. Then it will go off and cause even more pain. Not cool to instill that kind of fear.

As long as you don't torture the ones you are at war with, people will tolerate the torturing of your own.

Cops nationwide need to layoff their taser misuse! Sick of hearing these messed up stories of old people, young people, ect..getting tasered for little or no reason.

As someone who teaches Martial Arts I find it hilarious that these big tough police 'men' need anything but their hands to subdue ANYONE!!!

If you can't get handcuffs on a criminal then you may want to check into an office job. Take pride in your profession. I personally would take it as a mark of shame if I were a police officer and had to resort to a taser.

Grow some balls and do your job or step aside.Police work is dangerous. If you don't like danger then get out. What they want to do is minimize danger to themselves by maximizing danger to us.

However, these scumbags that call themselves police officers can only be held accountable to an extent. I happen to know for a fact that it is a strict rule that a taser be used as a first line of defence against someone who is non-compliant. Yes you heard it right. Even if an officer KNOWS he could handle it the old fashioned way he is obligated to ALWAYS use the taser first. At least that's the way it is in my State/County.
Why do you think you hear so many stories about little old ladies and kids being tasered? The officer is just following department protocol.

Aren't all the Brit's wearing wrist and/or ankle [color=gold]Track & Taze bracelets???

I have to say I agree with you however Police Enforcement is absolutely not a profession of any-kind, there are specialist jobs within the police but non of these men and women are professionals by any stretch of the word, part of the problem is that they think they are professionals and not just men and women doing a job like any other.

Some of these cops really do have a mental illness revolving around power trips. Taser now, ask questions later.

Even without the Tazer issue, i have a major problem with something classed as non-lethal being able to down a suspect from almost 100ft away.

Imagine getting one of those in the face, then add the barbs to that....then add the electricity.

I'm suprised there are not more anti-Taze clothes being developed, i'm sure that would be a huge money maker.

This works sometimes, but i know many police officers that were competant martial artists who have come undone when handling a dangerous suspect.

I once had a new officer decide to go sort out a pub fight on his own, and i quote, "Don't worry, i'm a 2nd Dan black belt". He went in through the door, came out through the window.

If a weapon is involved, martial arts don't do the job every time. From my own experience, as a copper you not only have the task of subdueing a suspect, but you also run the risk that if you don't put them down first and they get the better of you, they also have access to your weapon.

Sorry but thats not an option.

So whilst i'm not too sure about this weapon, i agree with non-lethal weapons being used on occasions if it reduces risk to yourself and the suspect.

I agree with you about martial arts being a great tool to have as a police officer. On many occasions i found the Aikido i learnt invaluable, but with the stronger suspects, or ones that were high as a kite, or had particularly nasty weapons, it wasn't always useable.

It would be great if everyone could be a martial arts teacher, and i do think more emphasis should be placed on it if you are an offficer, but with that you'll have a whole other set of issues.

ATS will be writing threads about Ninja-like cops dispatching suspects in the dead of night with only their bare hands.

the Taiwanese SWAT National Police ,i dont think anyone, no matter how crazy or high woudl mess with them, unless they were like 200 meters away and armed with rifles!

i wish uk police were trained like this, but i doubt 80% of them can see their toes let alone get their feet waist high!

That comment had me chuckling for ages lol.

There was a programme on tv the other night about UK cops, they had to chase a suspect about a mile and at the end of it the cops were blowing out of their backsides, i thought they were about to have a heart attack lol.

Physical fitness certainly should be a frequent part of an officers life.

As for that video, i watched that on tv when it was on here, pretty handy those cops aren't they.

Law enforcement 'attitudes' notwithstanding I have a different concern.

I can't find - on the specifications sheet - any indication of the mass (or weight) of this device.

In order to achieve the 'bragging rights' of nearly double the range of "bean bag" "less-lethal" rounds, as well as tightening the grouping accuracy at 50 feet, a 12-gauge shotgun must be firing this projectile at a higher muzzle velocity, making it MUCH more likely to cause SERIOUS damage at close range - which is where most panicked or desperate user are most likely to pull the trigger.

If you have to "taser" someone at 100 feet it would seem the reason must be compelling. ((Unless desk-bound law enforcement administrators and policy-makers are envisioning entire squads of police firing volleys of these devices into crowds.... I wouldn't put it past them))

I would love to see the kinetic performance reports on this this.

I fear there will be many broken bones on this device, which our safety agencies and regulators will determine are inconsequential..... And when the decision-maker retires he'll lobby for the company... just like their lobbyist now used to work for us.....

Well said. I think there is a time and place for everything. I wish that there were more of a shame factor when it comes to the use of a taser though. Kinda like there is when you call for back-up. Officers always want to appear as if they have it under control and are hesitant to call for back up. That's the way it should be for tasers. It should be last resort not first. But, like I said, it is department protocol to use these things FIRST and ask questions later against someone being non-compliant.


Now they have even better more powerful tasers.Yeaaaah.
I truely feel sorry for these scumbags. The day is fast approaching........

I dig that. But I'll be in the mountains somewhere, setting up complicated defences for my kick ass retreat. The sheeple don't listen, like ever. I posted 2 mainstream newspaper articles on facebook about it being data mining blah & no one even looked. they don't want to know. Its maddening, how can I save them? I can't, right?

But this shotgun thing is #ed up. really #ed up.
I hate that americans are suffering all this NWO but at the same time i'm grateful that we here in australia have a better chance of preparing for all the things america are going through now, & that america isn't martial law yet (is it?) and australia would at least have to go through all the little compromises america has before we'd get to the same place. Gives us a chance to say no. With a fist if necessary.

Seriously thought, I'm not sure of the "need" for this thing. Cops tend to show up to whatever in groups - or quickly get a group of cops there if anything is going on. Given they already have tasers, spray, guns, water cannons for crowds, gas, flash bangs, bean bags, etc. I'm not seeing that much of a need for it.

Of course, that probably won't stop them from saying its a vital bit of equipment to get their paws on.

Apparently this weapon has been on "Future Weapons", ...

In that youtube link just posted they guy actually says "this is going to change everything". I wonder what he means by this odious statement...
