Brazil tops global swine flu death toll 557 deaths

Brazil now has 557 swine flu deaths, making it the country with the highest number of fatalities in the world from the disease, according to figures announced by the health ministry on Wednesday.

The toll puts it ahead of the latest count from the United States, which as of August 20 had 522 swine flu deaths, according to the US Centres for Disease Control and Prevention.

Since January, more than 13,000 people have died of complications from seasonal flu, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's weekly report on the causes of death in the nation. No fewer than 800 flu-related deaths were reported in any week between January 1 and April 18, the most recent week for which figures were available. The report looks at deaths in the 122 largest cities in the United States. Worldwide, the annual death toll from the flu is estimated to be between 250,000 and 500,000.


13,000 people dead from seasonal flu since January. If it averages 800 deaths per week then the tole is up to over 23,000 in just 7 months.

This whole swine flu hysteria is stupid.

I currently am in Guatemala; I am in, and out of Mexico all the time. Everyone has the flu, or the "Gripe", or the "Resfriado".

I mean tons of People, and those small numbers of death. I'm telling everyone this is a biological attack!!! S&F



To be clear I go from La Ciudad de Guatemale to Puebla, Mexico a lot. Not many deaths, compared to the amount of People sick. It's the rainy season; which they consider the winter.
