I am sorry about the link, it works just fine for me and gives me access right away.

And as you are saying, some people are suggesting it is caused by pollution, food additive and other things that did not affect people in earlier times. But it is still just a suggestion.

My own father died of a brain tumor almost 20 years ago. He lived a very healthy life, never used alcohol, never smoked, never used a cell phone... Still he got the brain tumor. Nobody knows why.

It could have been Cysticercosis

From what I have read on it, it is misdiagnosed quite a bit as a brain tumor.

Well, in Ted Kennedy's case, it was most likely induced by Alcoholism. God rest his merry soul, but his battle with Alcohol was a running joke while he was alive and it got him on the TSA No Fly List, despite being a Senator.

However, Cancer has been around since the Dawn of Mankind. There are ancient Egyptian Papyri that have descriptions of Cancer, including Brain Cancer.

Simply put, when Cancer is not Hereditary or caused by Infection, then Cancer is the build up of foreign substances in the body which our organ systems are unable to flush out. If it cannot be broken down by the body it accumulates until it becomes a tumor. Depending on the substance, if our Lymphatic (metastasis Cancer) and Immune system (invasive Cancer) is triggered by it, then it becomes malignant.

The problem is that there are lots of things that can cause Cancer. Genetic Mutation, Epigenetics, Carcinogens, Radiation, Viruses, Bacteria, Hormonal Imbalances, and a Dysfunctional Immune System. However, just about anything that cannot be broken down completely by our body can become Carcinogenic which is where the danger and mystery of Cancer comes from. Anything in your diet and environment can then become a source of the Cancer, from the metals in Soda Cans, to the Laundry Detergent that you use. That is also the problem with preventing and curing Cancer is that as you cannot directly correlate a primary cause, you cannot defend against it and attack it. Instead you have to treat Cancer by containment and removal.

Red, here is a link to a website run by one of the leading teachers in the macrobiotic community. (Macrobiotics first gained fame in the 1950s and 1960s as a healing diet.)

It includes many free recipes for foods you can probably cook at home today with what's in your pantry already.

And since many ATS folks might prefer a UK connection, here is the just-published book on macrobiotics by Simon G. Brown, a leading macrobiotics teacher whose clinic is located in London, England:

On that Amazon page, as you start to scroll down the page, you will also see mention of his previous best-seller, Modern-Day Macrobiotics, which is terrific. I just bought Macrobiotics for Life but have not yet received yet.

Simon also moderates a macrobiotics discussion at Yahoo! Groups. Just go to the Groups page and do a search on the word "macrobiotic" and that link will pop up.

Apparently, just being a Democratic Senator representing the state of Massachusetts is a major culprit.

I hope that Senator Kerry learns from this lesson and changes his ways.

I just heard about a book written by a medical sociologist in the 1990s, after her 20 year old son was diagnosed with brain cancer. The title is:

Double vision : an East-West collaboration for coping with cancer

Here is the link to the Amazon listing for this book:

Currently there are used copies being offered for 1 cent, plus shipping costs of around $5.00.

Oh, with the help of these Eastern plus Western therapies, her son recovered fully. So a diagnosis of brain cancer does not have to be a death sentence.

The book also delves into our OP question, what causes brain cancer?
