Off topic: Your avatar is strobe-like and I have seizures. I have to move it off the page to read your posts, so I won't be reading them in the future. Sorry.

From your source:

On Jan. 18, Alkhateeb uploaded the image to photo-sharing site Flickr (shown at right). Over the next two months, he amassed just a couple thousand hits, he said.

Dyslexia doesn't cause seizures from flashing lights, but epilepsy does. Dyslexia is when your letters get jumbled up when you try to write/type.

I think it's funny that you joined less than a month ago and are already criticizing the moderators of this website.

Anyhow, I personally feel the same as many on this thread. I am a big fan of artwork, I liked the nudity stuff going on in NYC, I feel that anyone can create art of any fashion and someone out there will appreciate it. The right to create artwork should not be curtailed.

However.

He is the President of my country. I find it highly distasteful and disrespectful. I do believe that was the point of the poster, similarly with the Hitler poster. I think it was created to make a statement, the statement has been made, and now "rocking the poster" is about as stylish as wearing a fanny pack, IMO.

I also don't believe Socialism is as evil as it is made out to be. But golly I'm just a horrible human.

I said it before.

Nobody got upset about it when it was Bush being portrayed as the Joker. Yes his picture was manipulated to look like the joker and was mass produced and sold.

Obama gets to wear the white make up and red lipstick now. It to will pass, dont get in a big huff about it.

I'm tired of seeing t shirts with Obama, MLK and Rosa Parks all together. You don't see me saying its as uncool as wearing a fanny pack.

The more the merrier I say! Let's have a T shirt that says:

"Kill the Bill Not Granny!" so it'll be visible @ the district Congressional hearings & Town Halls

The Posters do not bother me, everyone makes a poster of someone looking like someone else, Regan was the Devil, Darwin was the Monkey, Al Gore was Frankenstein, Bush was Hitler and some other things, Clinton was a Trick. Things like that, but what bothers me is this has obviously blown up into something other than ART, it has become a way to express hate and that is not cool.

I think they are in bad taste. I am about freedom of speech and all but why not write something on a t shirt instead of making such a picture that looks freaky and bloody!

ah your right, i got them mixed up lol
little brother has dis, lil sis has epilepsy (the right one)

i am going to "diss" the moderators, because they do a pretty piss poor job of what the MAIN PURPOSE of this site is. Its my personal view on the site. NOT ALL MODERATORS< but most do a less than average job on this site. Im not the first, and im sure im not the last to comment on this. Even half the moderators have told me the same about there "colleagues" Really who nitpicks and complains about the smallest things that are less than important? The point of this site is to post information and personal experiences/views, not to be bashed over topics and little things that have no meaning to THE ORIGINAL POST. hense your stupid snide remark about the moderators. Its about the joker poster nothing more nothing less. Exactly my point. STAY ON TOPIC, dont sway off.

btw i haven't been on this site for a month, i been on this site for a few years. My other account's password got reset, and the email to it was deleted. So im unable to access it. I can show u my old account if you'd like
a year and some months on this site. But by all means, im sure you know more, or experience more because "BRONZE content contributor" lol

Im curious why everyone is taking this poster to heart? HES OUR PRESIDENT..>HE SHOULDN't GET THIS AMOUNT OF DIS-RESPECT.

seriously where was everyone complaning about vanity's covers of Bush being dipicticted as an idiot or sucking the blood out of the statue of liberty?
ALL THE COUNTLESS MOVIES that were put out of him "getting dissed"
countless shows
images
youtube
magazines
stars
celebrity's
lol

really EVERYONE THOUGHT IT WAS REALLY FUN, because half of it was true. But now when its the "savior" Obama (supposbly) now everyone gets there panties in a bunch. Its pretty funny how it is A BAD THING when its obama, and when it was bush EH its ok, haha GOOD FOR U!, yea make a political statement!

IF that is your perception of the art, than thats all you. Most haven't depicted it as "HATE", more have realized perhaps Obama isn't the man he all led us to be.

I'm curious about the commemorative plates and playing cards. I had heard something about clay pigeons....whatever that means.

Next they'll be doing an OBozo the clown. whatever. Atleast they aren't putting these in urinals....yet. " Yes, pee can." or; " Yes, we-we can "

Political Parody has been happening far longer than any of you may think.

Some of the first epigraphical inscriptions ever discovered were political parodies making fun of a Pharoah of Ancient Egypt or a King of Ancient Sumeria.

Caricatures were drawn of Pope Urban VIII in the 16th Century.

Without Political Parody, the Reformation of the late 16th century would have never happened as Political Cartoons was the primary form of propaganda that was utilized by Martin Luther and the Protestant movement.

The people of America rallied together in their Revolution against a tyrannical England entirely due to Political Parody and Political Cartoons in the 18th century. Benjamin Franklin got the ball rolling with his "Join or Die" cartoon.

No one is so sacrosanct or above ridicule. Whether you be God Almighty himself, or the official representative of a God, a King, or a Pope that wears a funny hat, or President of the United States, you are not exempt from satire.

We all can't be King or Gods or Presidents. Since these positions are reserved for the few, then it becomes paramount that the rest of us can mock and make fun of them however we so choose to do so. Such is Human Nature. Our Forefathers understood this and made this practice sacrosanct and Constitutionally protected. Our Forefathers didn't make the elected Offices sacrosanct and Constitutionally protected from satire and scorn. Think about it! There intent was clear as to why.

I never said the posters were made as hate, I said that people are starting to take it that way. The art is neutral, the people are not.

I can't say I have any terribly strong feelings about it.

However, the artist who created it should sue, as his work is being used for commercial purposes without permission - the "socialism" banner was added later, the artist wasn't trying to make any political statement at all.
