Pictures which appeared in the Daily Mirror apparently showing abuse of Iraqi prisoners were "categorically not taken in Iraq", Adam Ingram told MPs. This is concluded from the truck used.

The defence minister said that the truck had never been used in Iraq, and as such, it was impossible that they had been taken there.
He challenged the Daily Mirror to adopt standards of "honesty, openness, and professionalism" after the newspaper demanded that of the MoD.

However, the damage has been done and the effect of these photos will be devastating for British troops, especially in Basra, and the violence has already started, with incidents on the rise in Basra, which was until recently a relatively peaceful location in Iraq.
