I didn't plan it this way but I'll be camping that week and off the grid so have fun.

I already stocked up on food and necessities.

Armageddon could happen and I wouldn't know it.

The pragmatist in me agrees that this will accomplish nothing, as only a minuscule fraction of the workforce is actually going to participate.

Of course, it's also the pragmatist that tells me that every journey begins with a single step. If things are going to go the way I want them to, I have to push them in that direction. Whether they actually move or not, is at this point in time, irrelevant. What matters is that I am secure in my being enough to push in the first place.

A patriot will not pick and choose, fighting only those battles they're assured to win.

I am a patriot, and when it comes to fighting for my country, there is no such thing as an exercise in futility. A general strike sends a message, not just to those we're fed up with, but to the apathetic. It tells everyone else "Hey, we're getting off our asses". The more people that stand up, the more people will begin to stand. People want to exist in the majority. But at one point in time, every majority was a minority.

I read through all the angry threads here on ATS and wonder where all of you were back 8yrs ago when the Patriot Acts were being rammed down our throats. Where were the demonstrations, national strikes and solidarity then? I agree we need to take back our government... but then again, I was one of those 'lunatics' that voted for Ron Paul. What the hell was I thinking?

Although I have nothing against Larry Flynt, I find it somewhat odd that the leader of this 'national strike' is someone who has made his fortune in adult porn. Apparently that doesn't matter as much as Dennis Hof (owner of Bunny Ranch brothel) endorsing Ron Paul. How times change.

Any national strike, IMO, will be a short-lived, under-attended news blip at best. For my money (what little is left) there is a much more effective and unprescedented way the people of this country could put TBTP on notice. That is, if we can all get on the same team for once.

For one moment, put your personal party loyalties and prejudices aside. What I propose is that we initiate a class-action lawsuit against the Bush Administration, the SEC, members of the Senate Banking Committee and every other body, both public and private, that had oversight responsibilities for the securities trading activity that led to the economic collapse. It's important we START we these entities since it can be clearly established that they had the authority to regulate and control the activites that led to the economic crash and chose to do nothing until it was too late.

Once that lawsuit begins to move forward, the key players in the current administration will be able to be tied to the suit through evidentiary hearings and added to the defendants list.

Any lawyers in the crowd?

I have watched news and read news on the internet.

No word of strikes and problems they would cause.

If I may, one other point......

In todays destroyed economy, I bet VERY few will miss work/strike or whatever for fear of losing their jobs.

For every person who quits/is fired, there are 100 who want the job.... and employers know this.

Just for the record...........

whaaa is officially on strike! Today I will not buy anything, I will not lift a finger to do anything remotely constructive.

Even though I'm officially at work and I may look like I care about the business at hand; It's just an illusion and pretend attention.

There certainly is a lot of satisfaction knowing that by doing nothing I am striking a blow for the common man.

Is someone bringing chips and salsa!
