The following is a rush transcript of the August 23, 2009, edition of "FOX News Sunday With Chris Wallace." This copy may not be in its final form and may be updated.

CHRIS WALLACE, HOST: We're going to do something different here today. Usually, we discuss the news, but today we're going to tell you about something you may never have heard about, what critics are calling the "death book."

It's a 52-page pamphlet the Department of Veterans Affairs is using right now in end-of-life counseling for the nation's 24 million veterans.

Source

The latest smear attempts? This was promoted on Fmr. Alaska Gov. Sarah palin's facebook page, and Fox News dutifully picked it up and ranted. Specifically, Mrs. Palin posted about a Wall Street Journal Op Ed by Jim Towey, the former director of the "Office of Faith Based Initiatives", in the Bush Administration.

mediamatters.org...

On Fox News Sunday, Chris Wallace hosted former Bush administration aide Jim Towey to discuss his recent Wall Street Journal op-ed, "The Death Book for Veterans," and in doing so promoted numerous distortions about an end-of-life educational booklet used by the Veterans Health Administration (VHA). In addition to forwarding the smear that the booklet is a "death book," Wallace promoted Towey's distortion that the booklet encourages veterans to "pull the plug" -- it doesn't; Wallace and Towey both claimed that the Bush administration suspended use of the booklet -- it didn't; and Wallace claimed that a VHA document requires doctors to direct veterans to the booklet -- it doesn't.

Finding more with the Sarah Palin connection. I'm waiting for some other video, here's this for now:

Veterans Affairs official confronts rumors

Rumors of the VA death book can hijack the debate and throw the Democrats off message. They are especially unwelcome for Democrats at a time when they are desperately trying to heal intraparty divisions over the public option.

The right wing -- with a huge assist from Sarah Palin -- have heretofore been very effective in thoroughly throwing the White House off message during its messy, disorganized push for health care reform...

Too soon for the video I want, it just aired tonight, so not up yet. I found this cute blog, though...

Women for Sarah Palin

I will refrain from commenting, except to say I loved the response by a person posting as "catseye".

Oh god, she is like the turd that does not flush...

Do any CONSERVATIVES have the fortitude to condone this idiocy?

Is the primary core argument so weak that this is the extent of its depth?

This constant assault of crying wolf will create deaf ears over time, no doubt her father must have been a car alarm, mother a dying elk...

Sarah Palin is a private citizen. She has every right to say what she wants.

You guys should get a life and stop following her every word. Don't worry, she won't shoot you with her moose rifle.

Gee, I hope I come across more of your posts on frequent basis

'Father a car alarm .. mother a dying elk '

Thanks for the best laugh I've had this hour

And to remain on topic, have to say, Palin is not the greatest ambassador for the US .. not that the US has had many (any ?) for several decades, unfortunately

Not her job, now is it?

But she makes a great burr under Obama's saddle!

I cannot stand Sarah Palin, or the groupies following her hair style now. It's like some kind of cult. I've really tried to listen to the lady.

Generally I'm wary of all govt., but in many ways like Obama...He's kept us out of wars that McInsane, and Billary would have surely had us in by now.

She seems to open her mouth, and not expect People to question a single word, and when they do, she demands their resignation...see David Letterman.

Again, I do not trust govt., but I think there is a particular evil group of Quasi Fascist Republicans like Palin trying to push us into raging white waters; so to speak.

So what? Who cares about your opinion of the lady? Your whining about her hair is the sound of a little boy complaining about his 'meanie teacher'..

Sure...just tell that to the increased troop levels in Afghanistan.:shk:

They are the life preservers needed to counter Pseudo Socialist Democrats that are drowning the American people in debt, like yourself and your messiah Obama.

G'day, Sancho

Good post

Yep, Palin makes you long for the 'olden days' when at least politicians looked the part and had a clue how to speak the part and behave the part.

Not sure which faction Palin appeals to/hopes to appeal to --- maybe the soap-opera-party members ?

Whatever the case, I've seen bimbo weather-report girls with more clue than Palin, no offence intended to her believers.

She always seems as if she's a part-time teacher's-aide who's stumbled in front of the cameras on her way to buy a hamburger

So are you and me no?

Does that mean we shouldn't comment on each other's posts.

I shall take any response from you on the issue as a tacit agreement to the above.

Man I love how liberals love to hate on Sarah Palin.

You guys got an early Christmas present, she isn't in politics anymore. She isn't relevant, she could say that she hates everyone that isn't white and it wouldn't matter one bit.

You got your wish. She is gone, find someone else to run through the mud.

She has name recognition.

It's similar to a "celebrity" status. My gawd, she put this garbage on facebook!! Because she knew it'd get more exposure, than just the WSJ article. You trying to say she's Politically irrelevant now?

I'd say, "hardly".

Still testing the waters in the swamp. Poor analogy, am trying to remain polite.

It's a double-edged sword. They secretly lust for her, but know that she would laugh at them because of their sissified ideas and lack of guts.

Obvious Oedipus complex.

Don't know about you, but most of the literate world pretty much accepts that Dubya entered carrying a script in which the murder of 3,000 Americans on 9/11 was Part One

Following Chapters carried the action onwards: murder of a few million Iraqis -- ransacking of their culture and museums --- rape and pillage on Cecil B. DeMille scale --- poisoning of Iraqis water and food supplies guaranteed for the next 100 years --- ACSHUN --- slaughter, slaughter everywhere so the sands run red with combined Iraqi and US blood

then the Grande Finale -- when Dubya's backers put the finishing touches on their Bank Heist -- to be seen in all its glory during the Obama reign --- the final Big Finger from the Ruling Elite who we all knew had their arms full-length up Dubya's colon the whole time, in order to move his idiot mouth (and Dubya LIKED it, that was obvious)

Then Dubya removed himself to his Patagonian hide-out while his buddies the Ruling Elite (spelled Scum) started raping Obama in turn

Remember all those from Dubya's reign warning .. WARNING .. PROMISING .. that Obama 'would be put to the test' during his first six months in office ?

No ?

You don't remember ?

Well everyone else does.

And Obama's made it through the 'Global Financial Collapse', the 'Swine Flu Pandemic ' and the 'Birth Certificate Hoax' and 'Larry Sinclair's love story'. That's not bad, in eight months. Not to mention the Ruling Elite getting their noses out of joint when Obama spoke like a human about the Israeli Settler programme (spelled genocide) and dishing it to him in spades for not bowing to their every nose-blow.

No, Obama's doing Ok.

Despite Mrs. Palin and her Daisy May performances. Imo

You being polite is a rare occurance.

She is politically irrelevant. Shes done, over, through, retired. The only time I see her name mentioned on ATS is from liberals who are trying to hold on to that last oppurtunity to smear her.

As for her facebook page. Do you really think that she sits on a computer and plays on facebook? President Obama has a MySpace page that has the incorrect birthdate on it. Does that mean that he sat on the computer and either lied about his date of birth on the page or that he lied on all the official documents he had to fill out?

Even if she does her own facebook.

Who cares what she put on it. She could post on facebook that she joined the KKK and it would not matter. She isn't in any type of posistion for it to matter.

You say it is similar to a celebraty, ok. Would it matter to you if Robert Duval posted this on his facebook page?

I believe Biden chirped in that he would be tested in the first six months.

Unless you are implying that Biden was in W's pocket.

I think what you meant to say was, most of the 'looney world'. Which is only a small handful of the general populace.

Your opening statement renders the rest of your post absurd and without merit of a response.

I am no modern Liberal, or conservative. At best I'd be considered a Classical Liberal, or Paleo-Conservative. Having that said, I believe in live, and let live; each to their own. That being said, Obama is not apparently going along with his puppet masters=AIPAC, amongst others, very well. The link below, as well as the quote are from a thread I started. The news article was misleading because it alluded to Obama starting this program, but You can read the rest from my quote.

There is a jaded attempt by the Quasi Fascist Right to throw Our country into an absolute breakdown, but to be snatched up by them in some kind of Bolshevik take over.

I've really been doing something thinking about the reasoning of the articles. It was pointed out that the article orginated with the NYTimes.

Now the article really was all over the place with explanations, and just all stirred up in directions, or explanations.

I noticed something odd, The CIA complained about Blackwater loading the missles inadequately around a year ago..........That's during the Bush Administration.

Which leads me to believe in hind sight that this article is nothing more than a smear campaign against Obama.

The program of having Blackwater load bombs on drones, has been ongoing since Bush, but the article paints it as though Obama is starting the program now.

Skeptic Overlord talked about this recently here: www.abovetopsecret.com...

I have read this elsewhere that many of the World Power Brokers aren't happy with Obama, and he is not doing as told, at least a 100% as told.

I am not defending Obama, but I do believe both articles are subversive propaganda, and are in concert with other subversive propaganda; which is making Obama look more, and more evil daily.

As Skeptic Overlord said:
Damn The Country; Obama Must Fail!!!!

No you don't. You take every opportunity to smear and attack Sarah Palin. I mean, c'mon..her hairstyle?

You certainly are a lib, whether you want to preface it with classic, neo, retro, paleo, vanilla-flavored, die-hard, or whatever.

At least man up and admit it.

I'm not sure how many who're all bent out shape because 'their side' (as in football, baseball, bowling) lost, realise that the entire voting world public is not slave to the same mental-condition

Many in the world's voting-public choose candidates on merit, regardless of which 'side' they're contracted to

Which is why it's so depressing to see Americans ignoring merit and potential in favour of voting in 'their side' -- even if their side are monkeys in clown suits

And MOST in the world's voting-public were aware decades ago that in reality, there ARE no 'sides'. It's just the one team, dressed in two different uniforms (for the sake of the voting-monkeys who like to believe politics is sports and is comprised of 'opposing teams')
