I thought I would share this clip with everyone. Ronald was my president at the age of 5 years old. I absolutely agree with his philosophy. God bless the man.

Chime in.

Yea God bless good'ol president reagan and his "conservative policies" right?

I guess we should thank his conservativeness for leading americas hands into the middle east? The man assisted Osama Bin Laden in Arms during the early 80's, he further armed Saddam Hussein when he waged war against Iran, Gee wiz? This is certainly conservative policies at its best right? Hows about the fact before his president "the worst president in the world by conservative views" Carter left $800 billion in debt, only for Reagan to finish off his presidency with $2.2 trillion. Did you know there 1000's more americans on welfare when Reagan left office?

You want us to sit here and listen to this man now talk about "socialized medicine"? Didnt he have plently of chances to dismantle medicare and healthcare coverage to himself and his fellow politicians during that time as well? What made him not to do anything about that "socialized" healthcare?

The mans a hypocrite, just like the rest.

I was not sure on how I wanted to reply, so I took some time to think about a logical answer. Osama's connection to the United States goes further back in time. As a result of Russia going into Afghanistan, we armed him to ward off the invaders. We lived in a dramatically different world. It was the Cold War era.

We now live in the second Cold War era. Different players and a different style of war.

Then again SG, there is this;

Reagan adopted an economic policy whereby tax cuts were created to help increase savings, spending, and investment. Inflation went down and after a time so did unemployment. However, a huge budget deficit was created.

History will remember Reagan as the first Cold War president to preside over eight years of unbroken peace, the first to reach an arms reduction accord with the Soviets, and the American president who helped make it possible for Mikhail Gorbachev to begin the process of restructuring Soviet society.

Reagan will be remembered as the president who reversed the decades-old flow of power to Washington. By dismantling some federal programs, and reducing others, he forced the states and the cities to assume more responsibility for running their own shows. If he failed to break the Democratic hold on Congress, he did force the Democratic Party to move to the right.

"If you analyze it I believe the very heart and soul of conservatism is libertarianism. I think conservatism is really a misnomer just as liberalism is a misnomer for the liberals -- if we were back in the days of the Revolution, so-called conservatives today would be the Liberals and the liberals would be the Tories. The basis of conservatism is a desire for less government interference or less centralized authority or more individual freedom and this is a pretty general description also of what libertarianism is." -Ronald Reagan

SG, you remember him your way.

I'll remember him mine.

Progressivism? Not so fast, folks
www.politico.com...

Progressivism and its progeny all believed in the fairness and wisdom of decisions made by the state — often at the expense of the individual, who, it was believed, made selfish decisions. All demanded that the state have an increased role in raising children. Adolf Hitler scoffed at those who remained opposed to him, saying he already had control of their children.

All believed in the minimum wage, state control of private property for the public good, unionization and environmentalism. And they believed in eugenics to purify the gene pool.

Its socialism (communism) at its core.

Unfortunately the vid has been removed so I can't watch. I opologize in advance if I'm missing the point of it.

I just wanted to point out that 'socialised medicine' has nothing to do with 'socialism'. Social programs are the result of capitalism not socialism. It's such a stupid common misconception. Countries that have social health care are not socialist, France, Britain etc., they have private ownership of the means of production, just like America, which makes it capitalist by definition.

Socialism is the workers ownership of the means of production and distribution. Under a true socialist society, health care would be free anyway, or very cheap, so there would be no need for a government funded 'social health care system'. The mistake you all make is believing profit is the only motivation, and this irrational fear of a system that would be to the benefit of most of you, because you've been conditioned to think that way. It's time to shake off that conditioning, open your minds and go search out the real truth, not lies that come from government and those who make their wealth exploiting you.
