Awesome photos!

Anyone recognize the Eagle in the 7th photo from the top?

Gee, where have we seen that before in America?

If you look up the Albert Pike statue in front of the justice department and look at the bronze figure below him, she is holding a banner with the "double headed" eagle on it and the Masonic triangle. This is the exact same insignia that was on Htliers letter head and ledger.

Strange coincidence? I think not.

Funny, and we think there is justice in this country, ha!

How many other photographs are hidden in peoples attics , or in Grandparents boxes, films that haven't been developed because they are too fragile?
What history is tucked away ?
Great photos even IF it IS a dark part of our history. and always better in colour, but then again , we as a modern world are used to colour.

I myself have a collection from my Grandparents from when my Grand-dads brother served on the HMS. Enterprize, and photos of ShangHai when it was invaded.

I often wonder what will the generations following ours see in our photos or videos? I'm thinking SD cards with no readers or no way to access the harddrives we have wasted and lost over the years. At least a photo is a hard copy, a moment frozen in time ( to quote the 'Firewalker' Film) , and unless its destroyed by fire, they should last centuries.

Save you photos people, the decendants of ATS might see them.

Look at the title of the thread. Godwin's law doesn't apply when the subject of the thread is indeed nazis.

True, but discussing about Obama led to comparing him to Hitler.

sorry but this meaningless bunch of pictures has nothing to do with ATS.
I'm a WWII buff myself, and there are a lot of websites where you could have shared your "rense" links.
60 years later, nazism is still popular...

I would say that it still resonates, but that is not of necessity a positive attribute. I think it's important to see this kind of spectacle and martial pageantry through the lens of retrospect.

Jingoism and war fever is still a tool of the government...it always will be. But you know what's said about those who forget the past are doomed to repeat it. Also, given, on this site, all of the comparisons between the current US administration and the Nazis, it's important to add context to the discussion. If you read the thread, that theme keeps appearing in the posts.

While these photos depict, for the most part, a celebration of Nazism, it doesn't follow that their viewing is as well.

You are entitled to your opinion, but speaking as one of German descent myself and extremely sensitive to issues of race and prejudice, I disagree that this thread is about the 'popularity' of Nazism.

But therein lies the problem. It is nigh on impossible to discuss the various 'angles' of interpretation of this topic, without people jumping up and down and casting unwarranted aspersions.

As Basil Fawlty once said: "whatever you do, don't mention the war!"

I see no where in these pictures where they remind me of Obama and
clearly your view of this "spectacle" is dillusion. Again where in any photos could you show me is 1. Obama walking through the streets with an army, 2. People saluting him all in the same fashion, 3. Hanging symbolic agenda pieces from every single high rise???????? I'd like to see your proof of the pictures of Obama that look exactly like this?? I'd be able to name one his inauguration but it didn't have thousands of soldiers there or secular propaganda. So I agree with the other poster that stated to make that comparison is absolute bull #!!!!!! The Repubs liken him to this because they were never this popular and they're jealous!!!! I mean take a look back at some JFK pictures and while your at it look up some pictures of Martin Luther King!!! I see happiness and progress in the making both of which were cut short by the same ideals your bringing to the table now.

I apologize like I said, I understand your stance canuck and thats not one I'm angered at.

Well said NoJoker13

However, I'm not sure that JohnnyCanuck was attempting to draw negative parallels between Obama and Der Fuhrer.

At least I hope he wasn't. Obama is of course charismatic, but I fail to see any further parallels.

I think the point is to highlight that comparisons with Obama are inaccurate. You might not think so, but plenty of others have compared him to the Nazis. The point of the OP is to show that it's not really the case. It's a ridiculous exaggeration as you point out.

At the same time the OP is pointing out that if we elevate our leaders to anything more than just flesh and blood we run the risk of repeating the mistakes of the Germans. If anything, the images are there to remind people not to put their trust in leaders too completely. It's better to listen carefully and if something looks or sounds wrong...maybe it is!

I agree with your pointing to MLK, some great leaders get wiped out and the ***holes reach old age. We often get so close to achieving something that's in everyone's best interest....and the 'status quo' puts a bullet in the breach.

Before y'all get your collective knickers in a knot, you might want to read the thread.

Fineman did, and this is how it resolved itself.:

I apologize for calling you a Nazi groupie! Thank you for putting what you were feeling and thinking into context. Your original post was slightly vague and now I have a better appreciation for what you were attempting to do.

So now that folks know what they're talking bout...can we re-open those borders

I think people are worried that Obama will turn us into Nazi Germany. They have several good reasons to believe he will. Its all about Obama putting forth enough policies, which will turn us into a socialistic society. Once these socialistic elements are into place, the government will have complete control over it's people. Many-many-many people from all sides are worried about him.

(1) Obama has put car companies under the control of the government.
(2) Obama has allowed the government control over financial companies.
(3) Obama is pushing for a government controlled healthcare system, which would will be a mandate forced onto everyone.
(4) Obama will also be mandating national civil service regimes. We haven't seen this policy yet, but he did start talking about.
(5) Obama has put forth policy, which restricts 'all' executive pay limits.

"Its not who you are on the inside, but what you do that defines you."

Do you want to know what life will be like under a socialistic society?

There are somethings wrong with what you said:

(1) Protesters are not party specific. Republicans, Democrats, and Independent voters and families are 'all' worried.

(2) They are not being paranoid. Obama is taking over everyone's life one piece at a time. Its all about his policies progressing.

I hear you loud and clear mate

I feel the same way - truly!

I'm sick of seeing post after post denigrating Obama in one way or another. It's gone past being a joke. I find it offensive, and Kudos to ATS for attempting to pear it back a bit.

But, it's not easy. Particularly when you have individuals fueled by ignorance and bigotry.

JohnnyCanuck: a great post and don't worry, I've known for a quite a while the cut of your jib
, and didn't misconstrue your original post.

That's why I've added you as a friend

When you actually learn what Socialism actually is, we'll debate.

But for the time being, I really can't be bothered going through all of your logically-perverse points.

Do some reading and come back in a few years.
