Afghan conflict serious, 'deteriorating'-Mullen

WASHINGTON, Aug 23 (Reuters) - The situation in Afghanistan is deteriorating along with U.S. public support for the war, Washington's top military officer said on Sunday as he left open the possibility of another increase in troops.

"I think it is serious and it is deteriorating, and I've said that over the past couple of years -- that the Taliban insurgency has gotten better, more sophisticated," said Admiral Mike Mullen, chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff.

Its when I read articles like this that I can't fight the feeling that our Government may be at war against America.

It's clear that the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs is not fighting the war that the American people have sent him to fight and is fighting the war that the special interests he represents has told him to fight and for this reason even 8 years into the war he can say the situation is deteriorating.

Mullen, is this what you hoped you'd become when you grew up?
