I've noticed on several different message boards I go to conservative leaning posters are talking about wanting free food. They reject the idea of free health care. Yet more and more people on message boards I go to are talking about free food. I don't exactly know where this came from. is this a meme? Is this an internet fad of something? I don't know how so many people are talking about this at the same time of the health care debate. Is it just a coincidence? Is it something I'm just noticing right now?

(mods- if this is not on the right board- please move it to another one)

Or, is it simply just something to distract from the debate?

Very interesting.

Many people are lacking basic food these days. Food banks are overstreatched all across the country. Many familes can barely feed themselves. I read an article a few weeks ago about county officials finding field-dressed carcasses of cows and even horses that had obviously been killed and stripped of their meat by hungry people.

There is actually real hunger out there.

I see what you're saying. Although I think some people have too much food. Giving them free food would make the problem worse.

With farmers dumping crops or allowing them to sit and rot because of price, demand or the Gov. paying them to do so, or not to grow, the food banks should be overloaded with fresh fruit, veggies and eggs.
The U.N. constantly reports that they are short of food for starving nations yet Govenments control what, how much and the price they sell for.

Keeping the masses hungry is just another part of the Control the Populace
Prime Directive
Being kept Unhealthy is the other side of that coin.

Oh, I agree. But most people don't think carefully, especially when their bellies are rumbling.

There are lots of things we could do to improve the situation...its really a matter of planning, logistics, etc. But seems like nobody in any position to cope has the brainpower to do that anymore.

How is it that only Conservatives are asking for food?

Are you saying there are no hungry Liberals?

No, they aren't conservative sites. I was just saying basically that I've seen conservative members on sites I go to argue this claim, or, idea.

Semperfortis, the people that I presented in those articles usually make conservative leaning posts... so I just kind of made the connection.

That's incredible internet mind reading ability. A gaming site? And you divined from their posts that they were conservatives. I am agog. Let me ask, do you see me as a liberal because of this post? Maybe a conservative? Hey, maybe a socialist, I'm Canadian after all.

I think it is a meme.

Like this~ Medicaid : Expanded Heathcare for everyone

Food Stamps : Expanded Foodcare for everyone

Both are dumb ideas IMO-- And contrary to the independent spirit held by a large majority of fiscal conservatives.

Conservatives, in the traditional sense would not support the idea of giving away free food if it at the expense of individuals.. ie food provided by a socialist program like welfare. I frequent a few almost entirely conservative forums, namely ar15.com and thehighroad. I don't consider myself a conservative, nor are republican, nor a liberal, nor a democrat. If I had to label myself something it would be a libertarian, and perhaps somewhat of an anarchist. The only scenario I would support regarding healthcare or food is one where they have evolved from a moneyless society. Once we're no longer forced to take from one group of people in order to provide for another group of people, then social programs like public "health care" could work. However even with a moneyless society, the current form of modern medicine is backwards. Rather than enhancing the body's ability to heal itself efficiently, we try to replace our own regenerative capabilities with chemicals designed to inhibit symptoms and mask the problems we face rather than allowing the source of those problems to be eliminated by the body itself. Cancer treatment is a prime example of this backwards logic. Kill everything, and hopefully you'll get all of the cancer. Well, what good is being cancer free when your body is also being destroyed by the 'medicine' that is supposed to kill the cancer? I do not understand why the primary focus of medicinal research is not understanding how the human body can heal itself in order to provide the most suitable conditions for it to do so.
