ok disagree all you want but clearly as I said with green day, they're clearly doing it to make money and I'm not taking the opinion of the press. Just my own.

I've been a NIN fan for quite sometime now, to me as a band that is still making music and has been for quite sometime they're probably one of the best.

The Dears - Money Babies Official Music Video
~~~~~~
Lyrics
Our money is elastic.
Our money is elastic.
Gotta get milk for the baby
and our money is elastic.
Decapitative laughter is keeping us alive.
Cavalcades of losers, losing their minds.
Hoping for disaster. Settin' off alarms.
Amid all of the deranged. Amid all the charmed.
Do you remember that time....
when we thought we were gonna die?
Well, baby nothing much has changed.
And yet they haven't been the same since at all.
Our money is elastic.
Our money is elastic.
Gotta get milk for the baby.
Gotta get milk for the baby.
~~~~
Awesome song.

Can't believe I forgot this one but here we go....
ALL FANS OF PROG ROCK, FANS OF TOOL & MUSICIANS: PAY ATTENTION TO THIS BAND!!!

Karnivool

IMHO...the best prog rock/metal band to come from Australia...EVER.

Album: Sound awake 2009

This whole freakin album is about waking up sheeple & stickin it to the NWO/mystery schools...

Its a follow up to Themata (album)
(themata: an old Greek word; the plural of Thema. A Thema is gut assumption or intuition about the workings of the world or life itself, a philosophy you can't prove with hard evidence, but something you instinctively know is right and are willing to back.)

First single from album: Set fire to the hive [official video]

The song peaked at #11 on the AIR Top 20 singles charts (mainstream success for alt prog rock band....)

...The beat and time signature change consistently throughout, similarly to COTE from Themata, with only the chorus being in standard 4/4 time....

as a musician, I never like to be writing within a comfort zone, because you invariably write music which sounds comfortable. Set Fire To The Hive was something we wrote from a weird place, where we were all frustrated by external stuff, and you can hear it in the song – it’s like we’re all going ‘FAARRK!!’ It’s definitely the heaviest moment, the black sheep of the album.
—Drew Goddard (guitarist)

The lyrics are about, as lead singer Ian Kenny said live,
the fact that:
"...we live in a democracy and that means that we call the shots".

Lyrics - Set fire to the hive

I don't know what's wrong, but I'm on fire
It sits in my hands, leaving skin on the wire
Awake in this world, where the crowd shouts down
When I listen the same crowd plays hard.

We're slaves
In this medicated cage
Make a decision and face this
change
To rules they don't explain
So why do we obey?

Politics, religion, your vision's the same
You played us as both a cancer and a cure
Which reminds me that it's just a game
Your alibi's a sales pitch
Your pretty-boy, pretty-face dolled up again
a star for us to adore
And you man, you've got to be more
Cause this affects all

It's nice to know you're with us, today
I've seen you in the fog along the way

I'll spit in the mouth of your god
Who whispers in the minds of the children
You've been sold again.

Set fire to the hive as you flee
It's fiction and faceless illusion
You've been had again

You swing this wrecking ball
A violent pendulum
To hypnotize them all

The writing on the wall
That we keep missing
A structure built to fall
Still we all obey

It's nice to know you're with us, today
I've seen you in the fog along the way

I'll spit in the mouth of your god
Who whispers in the minds of the children
You've been sold again
Set fire to the hive as you flee
It's fiction and faceless illusion
You've been had again

There's no second chances here
There's no second chances here
There's no second chances here
~~~~~~~~~~
Sound awake is full of awesome songs & set fire to the hive is by far one of the more average tracks by comparison to the others, please check out the other songs.
I'm surprised this song hasn't been mentioned on here before. It's called "Hands Held High" by Linkin Park, on the Minutes to Midnight CD (though it's more of a rap song than rock). It's a couple years old, and speaks out against the War in Iraq and against Bush, and it is up to the people to stand for what we believe in and not what TPTB do, and many of the things mentioned in it are very true and relevant even though Bush is no longer in office. It's a pretty moving and powerful song, and it speaks to me.
Here's the lyrics:
[Verse 1]
Turn my mic up louder I got to say something
Lightweights step to the side when we come in
Feel it in your chest the syllables get pumping
People on the street, they panic and start running
Words on loose-leaf sheet complete coming
I jump in my mind and summon the rhyme I'm dumping
Healing the blind I promise to let the sun in
Sick of the dark ways we march to the drum, and
Jump when they tell us that they wanna see jumping
F--- that, I wanna see some fists pumping
Risk something, take back what's yours
Say something that you know they might attack you for
'Cause I'm sick of being treated like I have before
Like it's stupid standing for what I'm standing for
Like this war's really just a different brand of war
Like it doesn't cater the rich and abandon poor
Like they understand you in the back of the jet
When you can't put gas in your tank
These f---ers are laughing their way to the bank and cashing the check
Asking you to have compassion and have some respect
For a leader so nervous in an obvious way
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay
And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day
In their living room laughing like "what did he say?"
[Chorus]
Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen
Amen
[Verse 2]
In my living room watching but I am not laughing
'Cause when it gets tense I know what might happen
World is cold the bold men take action
Have to react or get blown into fractions
Ten years old, it's something to see
Another kid my age drugged under a jeep
Taken and bound and found later under a tree
I wonder if he had thought the next one could be me
Do you see the soldiers they're out today
They brush the dust with bullet proof vests away
It's ironic, at times like this you pray
But a bomb blew the mosque up yesterday
There's bombs in the buses, bikes, roads
Inside your market, your shops, your clothes
My dad, he's got a lot of fear I know
But enough pride inside not to let that show
My brother had a book he would hold with pride
A little red cover with a broken spine
On the back, he hand-wrote a quote inside
"When the rich wage war it's the poor who die"
Meanwhile, the leader just talks away
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay
And the rest of the world watching at the end of the day
Both scared and angry like "what did he say?"
[Chorus x6]
[x6][Over Chorus]
With hands held high into the sky so blue,
The ocean opens up to swallow you.
Had to bump to post a few. System of a Down if you look at their non famous songs are very interesting. Pendulum has to be the best if you are looking for alien related things.. Specially the song Granite. Here are the lyrics:
You can hide your eyes, you can dim the lights, but they are watching.
This is a new time, with a different kind, they are the future.
The only one!
This is the final call for the setting song, as they get closer.
And with full blown grace, thy will be done, the show is over.
It's a new dawn!
Just leave this place behind,
I'll grill your place, Dont mind.
And youre the only one, cos youre up on defense.
This is a new way!
We are standing by, no time to hide, no meeting half way.
You were sucking life through the needles eye, this is a new day.
They have won!
We would have reckon now, what we have done, left in the open.
The cool we know will rise under, they are the future.
Future!
When all your fears combined, the manifest was refined.
And I know you really tried to understand.
This is a new age!
wow...i think it was only mentioned once, but how can you guys forget good ol' uncle Al Jourgenson of Ministry? You can't forget the perfect song N.W.O. about good ol Bush Sr. and the subsequent albums that followed with Bush Jr taking POTUS.
