I like that in some songs artist are trying to get people to wake up!, I would post them all but its 5:12AM(haven't slept)hehe so i will just post my favorite one, What other songs do you guys know of?

and here are the lyrics....

Come ride with me,
Through the veins of history,
I'll show you a god
Who falls asleep on the job.

And how can we win,
When fools can be kings,
Don't waste your time,
Or time will waste you,

No one's gonna take me alive,
The time has come to make things right,
You and I must fight for our rights,
You and I must fight to survive,

No one's gonna take me alive,
The time has come to make things right,
You and I must fight for our rights,
You and I must fight to survive

(solo)

No one's going to take me alive,
The time has come to make things right,
You and I must fight for our rights,
You and I must fight to survive.

I love this song!

Check out this band Resolution 242

go on their page and check out their other tunes, and search through their friends list.
my band have played good few gigs with these guys and other bands who all have their heads screwed on the right way.
(We're playing at the same 3-day festival as them next weekend, but on a different day.. if you're in or near manchester UK then try and make it down. google "ignition fest manchester 2009")
Plus they're a right laugh to get drunk with

ALSO Check out Jimmy The Squirrel

This ones a bit more easy listening - but has some of the most powerful, obivous lyrics, example -

Looking up from the bottom it's hard to comprehend
theamount of money our governmen will spend
on sporting events, wars without a cause
filling there ears up with tiny brick walls

There not listening to the people that voted them in
In demorcarcy this must be a sin
but there about as far away from there peoples cry
sitting up on there seats up high

From there seat up high they are always right
how do they sleepa night i bet very tight
cos there telling you whats wrong and right
they're telling you there's no reason to fight

Looking down fron th top it must be easy to see
the best way to manipulate a person like me
what to tax and waht to criminalise
can you see any truth behind there eyes

There not listening to the people that voted them in
In demorcarcy this must be a sin
but there about as far away from there peoples cry
sitting up on there seats up high

From there seat up high they are always right
how do they sleepa night i bet very tight
cos there telling you whats wrong and right
they're telling you there's no reason to fight

I'll keep remembering more bands to put here as the day goes on I'm sure!

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - MK Ultra (also known as Kill The US Government)

I spit my faith on the city pavement
To keep a smile
I bought my legs from the US Government
To keep me in line
We are the ones that keep you high
We are the ones that warm the sky
And you're burning bright

I filled my head with another replacement
To keep me high
I shot my soul when they wanted to take it
Your worst ain't mine
We are the ones that keep you down
We are the ones that warm the ground
While our arms surround

She's my river of sunshine, she's my girl
She can save the US, save the world
Yeah she's alright, I'll be fine
There's no US, save your mind
Save your mind come on

I'll give you nothin if you're just gonna waste it
But that's alright
I'll give you love if your wanting the taste that leaves you behind
We are the ones that keep you high
We are the ones that burn your pride
And you're burning bright

I've been waitin for the sun to come, lead me through the gates of Rome
Your gonna know they were never, never yours to kill
Oh no they were never, never yours to kill

I've been waitin for the sun to come, show you all what's being done
Your gonna know they were never, never yours to kill
Oh no they were never, never yours to kill

This one is a real classic

Brother will kill brother
Spilling blood across the land
Killing for religion
Something I don't understand

Fools like me, who cross the sea
And come to foreign lands
Ask the sheep, for their beliefs
Do you kill on God's command?

A country that's divided
Surely will not stand
My past erased, no more disgrace
No foolish naive stand

The end is near, it's crystal clear
Part of the master plan
Don't look now to Israel
It might be in your homelands

Holy wars

Upon my podium, as the
Know it all scholar
Down in my seat of judgement
Gavel's bang, uphold the law
Up on my soapbox, a leader
Out to change the world
Down in my pulpit as the holier
Than-thou-could-be-messenger of God

Wage the war on organized crime
Sneak attacks, repel down the rocks
Behind the lines
Some people risk to employ me
Some people live to destroy me
Either way they die.

They killed my wife, and my baby
With hopes to enslave me
First mistake...last mistake!
Paid by the alliance, to slay all the giants
Next mistake...no more mistakes!

Fill the cracks in, with judicial granite
Because I don't say it, don't mean I ain't
thinking it
Next thing you know, they'll take my thoughts away
I know what I said, now I must scream of the overdose
And the lack of mercy killings.

I'd say the Second Wave of Norwegian Black Metal is often misinterpreted and overlooked.
The Media see's them as church-burning Satanists and pinned this label down on all the genre simply forthe fact a few band members commited church burnings and the odd murder. The actual truth is much of the theology is based on Norse Mythology and rejection of the Christian Laws tht are imposed upon the modern world.
Lets face it, most of the law is christian, thou shalt not kill, commit adultery, etc, even when you go into court you have swear oath upon the bible. this is what these guys are against. The music is about freedom of choice (freedom being misinterpreted as Satanism.)
I could go on forever about the Theology of Black Metal, but I find the subject fascinating being a Black Metal artist myself and having met a few of the members of the Black Circle.

This blows my mind every time:

DJ KRUST featuring SAUL WILLIAMS - CODED LANGUAGE

The lyrics are so incredibly advanced, they seem to come from a higher state of consciousness & Saul Williams is just the medium. Unbelievable & incredibly uplifting.

Oh, and thanks for the BRMC track, didn't know they were that aware.

But your link seems to be broken. (pretty easy to find on Youtube though)

Very true, I loves my black metal lol.

I just finished getting up to date on the "The Industry" series on youtube the other day, and I couldn't help but notice how there's no metal at all on it (ok really I noticed I had no idea who all the pop stars and rappers were). And I've even been looking around trying to find something on metal bands, or the various subgroups of metal being involved with the PTB and I really havn't turned up anything...so do we have something left untainted?

I would say its more a case of winding up people and not waking up people.

Yes these type of songs are great for nurturing a rebellious mind but the mere inducement of rage, anger, depression and disgust at the system and the world without providing a constructive target for it leads to a destructive end, not for the Powers that Be but for the person wound up and not really woken up.

Anyone can look at their watch and know the train is late and complain about it and be upset about it...this does nothing though to make the train run on time, but will probably just slow it down more as the conductor has to patiently listen to the passengers whine and complain as they are getting off.

Who is making song outlining concrete logistical ways to make the world a better place?

No one!

It's the Powers that Be that most love this type of music and love to promote it and they have been for years.

Makes you angry, disgusted, anti-social and unbalanced with rage and feeling overwhelmed!

"I'd love to change the world"
"But I know not what to do"
"So I leave it up to you"

Ten Years After...30 years ago!

Hows that plan working out so far there John Boy and Billy?

Not toooo goood!

a bunch of smoke with building wad
in dissent under your "god"
& we biked to drink the day
because downtown just fell away

& the towers falling down
gave the u.s.a. a frown
& all the bumpkins wept at zero ground
but all those #ing lies
sew up our weary eyes
cause 9/11 was an inside thing
& G-dub played the king
to wipe the crim scene clean
smart folks know what i mean
Giuliani fixed the job
abetted by the mob
air-force & C.I.A.
N.O.R.A.D. with Dick Cheney
erased the facts away

& the towers falling down
spun the populace around
& all the families wept at zero ground
three-thousand bodies never found?
"pull"'s construction worker slang
for a controlled demolition
bombed to pull it to its base
Marvin Bush helped put in place
but crushed people "vaporized"?
with the evidence erased
the victims families had no case

but all these #ing lies
make the baby jesus cry
cause 9/11 was an inside job
not a "# u.s. kabob"
like the media portrayed
like the G.I.s would get laid
& it makes no #ing sense
like a failed air-force defense
because corporate oil got paid
& i'll save you some suspense
they wanted "dead presidents"

excellent topic btw.

A lot of artists have songs trying to urge people to wake up or understand what is going on.. Here's a short list haha..

The Black-Eyed Peas - "Where is the Love?"

Rage Against the Machine - "Wake up" (lyrics can be found in the info box)

Black Sabbath - "War Pigs"

Dream Teater - "A Rite of Passage"

Lyrics..
This is the new world order
Played upon our fears
Spreading accusations
Of radical ideas

The brotherhood of wisdom
Strength and dignity
Its rituals and secrets
Remain a mystery

Beneath the ever watchful eye
The angels of the temple fly

Turn the key walk, through the gate
The great ascent to reach a higher state
A rite of passage

The final stage, a sacred home
Unlock the door and lay the corner stone
A rite of passage

Men of wealth and power
Influence and fame
Philosphers and leaders
Are members of the trade

Bound by oath and honor
Like the rose and cross
An enigmatic union
Of esoteric thought

Beneath the ever watchful eye
The angels of the temple fly

Turn the key, walk through the gate
The great ascent to reach a higher state
A rite of passage

The final stage, a sacred home
Unlock the door and lay the corner stone
A rite of passage

Turn the key, walk through the gate
The great ascent to reach a higher state
A rite of passage

The seven stars, the rising sun
A perfect world, a new life has begun
A rite of passage

Well, I partially agree with you.
Its not enough to simply dislike something.
We gotta know what we like.

But here you are complaining about complaining.

If you think they should give the solution why don't you just give the solution?
Your doing the exact thing that you say you don't like.
Pretty ironic, isn't?

It's okay
Allow yourself a little hate
Hatred is not so bad
When directed at injustice
You can turn the other cheek
Just don't turn the other way

Enemy of the planet
We finally have a common hate
A reason to forget about our differences
And stand as a united front
It's up to us, we must expose, humiliate
American Errorists
We'll start with one

((THE...WAR...HAS...JUST BEGUN))
((THE...WAR...HAS...JUST BEGUN))
