Bloody Mandleson...I might have guessed that evil snake was involved.
Hes like our own Dick cheney-always sneaking around,always up to no good.
If I ran the UK the first thing I would do is send Mad Mandy off to Helmand to do some proper work-on the front line.

I read up on this a fair bit at the time of the disaster and whilst i can't remember the names of the publications i do remember some of the content which confirms what has been said earlier.

That there was evidence that the CIA had been helping to smuggle drugs and that they had a contact/operative (I seem to remember who had been recruited in Syria) working as a baggage handler in Frankfurt airport.

US authorities were on the scene either before or 'too soon' after scottish police arrived.

The Scottish police recovered a large amount of 'white powder' and a large sum of money. Despite there being official police statements from the scottish police to this effect, the US authorities denied they had recieved the drugs and money and this evidence wasnt presented in court.

That the coverup involved disinformation that drew attention away from the CIA/drug smuggling operation.

I guess we will now see the same, more stories, and conspiracy theories that dont included the CIA/drug connection.

I will endevour to find the original sources i read but i do remember that a scottish MP Tam Dalyell (who also wrote for new scientist magazine) supported the investigation into the CIA/drugs connection.

Really this guy and his sicko buddies do nothing for my confidence in British "democracy."
According to the above link,2 American Senators are demanding an investigation into the possibility the release of al megrahi being connected to an oil deal between Libya and the UK(with good reason IMO).

What I would say to these 2 Senators is :

Investigate Mandelson !!

Then if by any means it is possible-take the snake to Guantanamo Bay-keep it open just for him and his buddies,please.

I have the feeling that the US put pressure on the UK/Scottish Government too, Gordon Brown's complete silence on the whole affair speaks volumes. Although I think that the crocodile tears and 'furious' rhetoric that is coming from the US CIA etc is pushing things somewhat, the Jocks will only grab their ankles and bite on the wooden spoon for so long and then the awkward questions and retorts will start to come out and from there it will lead to a quietening off as rocks are scurried back under and normal underhandedness continues on it's merry way. Shush shush nothing to see here we're really good friends again honest.. so sorry I must have been on my period come in sit down have a glass of Freedom Liquor...er I mean Scotch

Nope. Have to disagree with the OP on this. If this ever made it to a real court of Scots law, the jury would have acquitted both defendants due to the lack of evidence, suspect witnesses that were paid for by the U.S. for their useless testimonies and the fact that evidence that contradicted the official version of events was withheld.
It doesn't matter that either defendant was part of the Libyan secret service. You can't prosecute if you don't have the proof. The truth will come out on this and will prove to be an embarrassment to the U.S. and Scotland.

Seems i was not the only one ...test explosions have failed to replicate the evidence .......

That sounds all wrapped up. In our "snipped" up world nothing is certain. There is very little information that can be relied upon. We live in an era of spies and secrets and made up evidence. It is very possible that the guy didn't do it. That the evidence of the firing wire in the cassette player was made up. When you have a top notch secret agency like the CIA faking evidence is too easy. They weren't even able to determine that the plane was brought down by a bomb. It could have been brought down by a hand held anti tank missle fired from a private yacht by some country our government didn't want to make trouble for. Our government (and the UK both) are so completely untrustworthy that absolutely anything is possible. It is totally possible that the evidence could have been added after the fact the question to go after is why. Who could have gained from this airplane going down? The problem with justice and courts is that there is no justice if you have total corruption.

The truth is known to very few, and I can assure you that ATS doesn't have it.

This attempt to whitewash the affair does no justice to anyone, least of all the relatives.

So after 20 years of looking, they don't get close to your conclusion, which is grossly unsound.

Paul Gaucci identified another suspect before megrahi, the one the police believed was responsible, so your 'FACT' that Megrahi bought the clothes is dependant on a man paid 2 million dollars to say so.

The relatives are owed an apology.

The appeal of Megrahi is based on: (NO JURY COULD CONVICT, THE DEFENSE THOUGHT NO JUDGE COULD CONVICT, SO THEY OFFERED LITTLE DEFENSE)
