Yes, you read that correctly, if somewhat cryptically.

I am refering to Intel's new serios of "32NM" "Atom Brand" processors and System On A Chip.

First, we need to know what the heck S0C is:

System-on-a-chip or system on chip (SoC or SOC) refers to integrating all components of a computer or other electronic system into a single integrated circuit (chip)


What may not be as obvious is the other advantages, especially smaller gets you.
Remember, heat is any parts worst enemy. In general, the smaller the transistor size, the less heat is made/wasted.
(my personal example is my Q6600, quad@2.4 gig runs 10C @idle, more than my 9659 quad@3 gig.
The Q6600 is a 64 nm processor and the 9650 is 45 nm processor)

Besides performance, lower heat allows other things to be put on the chip (remember, they will add heat also) to make a faster, power efficient SoC.
