Yep there is something wrong, it was over $700 million total.

Actually, since most of that money was spent in ways that provided jobs and otherwise helped stimulate the economy... It stands, so far, as one REAL thing Obama has done to stimulate the economy. Though it is only a fraction of the trillion dollar government stimulus he signed as president, his campaign funds seem to have done more to help the economy than that massive stimulus plan has.

So, I suppose its a good thing.

You know where the biggest chunk of this money was spent/lost? On TV....how sad! Once the candidates are selected, they (the networks) should give=equal= air time to all candidates...It should be MANDATED by LAW.

Although I like Obama, I thought it was unfair for him to run that 30min infomercial days prior to the election while McCain was out of money...If the networks had to give time and candidates couldn't just buy it...then things may have been different.

this thread is a straw man .

the money is worth it . they then sell the office for much more than they pay for it .

the answer is easy...
return to the constitution .

turn the goverment to its origin .
and the money is gone from washington.

the answer is simply this

1) shut off the tax money going to washington
2) shut down the fedaral agency's not allowed in the constitution.
3) shut down the social engineering role of the tax code .

boom , end of problem

the way to do this?

elect the least quailfide people who will shut down spending and with out a clue what they would do .

they will promise to stop tax's and sstop spending..
what ever else they do is not important...

but how does this present a level playing field for all comers vying for the role of president? if the cost is out of pocket, then he rich prevail everytime...if nothing else, due to exposure.

How about we shut down all government on all levels and let mayhem ensue...then after the dust settles, the 'people' will restore society as it should be. Oh, wait...we did that almost 300 years ago..turned out fine didn't it.
