Could Obama's Career Be Over?
After listening to CNN, MSNBC, and CNBC on the radio, I think Obama's presidency has hit a wall. I think we are looking at a one term president who is falling into the foot steps of President Bush the first.

(1) If he passes health reform by sidestepping the Republicans, he will lose a lot of political capital.

(2) If he passes health reform without the main base of the Democrats, he also loses a lot of political capital.

......

I think its over for him.

[edit on 19-8-2009 by Pathos]

It may be looking like that now, but I've noticed over the last few years that when things seem to get desperate for TPTB they use some tactic no one's ever seen and the bic picture just gets larger, more complicated, and usually worse for those that oppose him.

We'll see what tricks he has up his sleeve on this issue. I can tell you this though: There won't be any more town hall meetings unless there are more audience plants in the future.
And without town hall meetings, microphones and cameras - public uproar is less publicized and people go back to thinking their opinions are helpless against this legislation.

At least on television there won't be an American citizen, or "consumer" (as they like to call us) voice.

There is no doubt he's a 1 term president, he only won because he got a high percentage of the white vote and the senior vote, he has destroyed his trust with these very groups with health care and other socialized programs he is trying to push!

LOL 8 months in and some are counting him out because he hasn't saved the world yet!

Our Country didn't get into this mess in 8 months and it will take more then 8 months to dig us out.

If things stay the same Obama will be blamed by spin doctors, if things change he will be blamed by spin doctors. The common denominator being that Obama just being Obama is the cause of all our woes-real or imagined. We all know that is simply not true though.

Amazing how shortsighted Humans can be.

The possibilites of what could happen in the rest of Obamas term are simply to numerous to calculate.

One thing you can bet on though is that every week on ATS there will be another thread about Obama and what he has or has not done.

It should have been over the minute America found out that he had been a member of Rev. Wrights anti-white cult for 20 years. But he served kool-aid and skated through. His life has been a career of bamboozling and running for office. Nothing more. I don't see an end to that ever happening. Unfortunately.

Every time I see this I have to
.
Obama isn't digging us out.
He's digging us in deeper.

the next race will be much more interesting in my opinion...not so one sided..unless something drastically changes in the next 3 years and America gets attacked or something...approval ratings always skyrocket on the outset of war...

That comment is way to close to the truth. Scary. Very scary.

And I
every time I see someone blaming Obama again. Is he building or digging? is he
or
?
or
? We are each welcome to our own views in our "make your own reality" world. Only time will tell if the shovel you think he wielding is undermining or laying a foundation.

Pathos, your problem is you watch WAY TOO MUCH TV!

What you are hearing & seeing is ridiculous lunacy fake right/left paradigm to distract you and the other dumbed down idiotic sheeple from what is really going on. This "alleged" President is a puppet spokesman for TPTB. If you want to have an affect, TURN OFF YOUR TV NEWS!

Get a life, turn off your TV, read, study, exercise, help others, play with your dog, watch videos....DO NOT WATCH TELEVISION NEWS!

Info babes in $2000 costumes and $500 hair dues reciting their lines doesn't make them an expert. They are doing what they are told to do and what they are paid to do, "ACT"!

It's called "PERCEIVED REALITY", and it is NOT reality, so turn it off and you will discover a new reality.

Get your opinions from "true" sources, like Economist, Political Experts, Scientist etc, NOT TV NEWS ACTORS...

(I will not respond to any ignorant comments)

Hun ... the facts about what he's done are there. It's reality. My 'make your own reality' happy place is a much better place then the reality we have here.

Only time will tell if the shovel you think he wielding is undermining or laying a foundation.

So far what he is doing is making things worse.

As far as what you said about undermining or laying a foundation, it's clear he's doing both. He's undermining the USA and at the same time laying a strong socialist 'spread the wealth around the planet' foundation.

Yes, of course his presidency is over.
Can you believe what he said to the old people complaining about
ObamaCare nightmare? Did he forget? Old people vote.
"I don't mind fixing the problem. Just shut up while i ram this
quick fix through the House and the Senate."
Throw it out. Start over.

Maybe he should resign and let Joe Biden take over.

this reads like a foot stamping conservative bleating wishful thinking kind of thread.

could it be that you woke up in some gun laden fantasy world?

Obama ain't goin nowhere and has HUGE support.

just because of a few noisy fascists, the world won't change.

Is Obama's career over? Erm. No.

Save this thread and repost it in 3 years when people will be making their decision on whether or not he's been a good President. The American public has the attention span of a puppy in a field of squirrels covered in bacon. We won't really know how the next election will go until its right on top of us.

People were still rooting for McCain (even on here) on election night, and that wasn't even close as far as elections go.

Frankly these partisan lists are a little silly...

I understand the propaganda/ political/ rhetorical value behind long lists of opinions mixed with BS with a fact thown in here or there.

Really who has the energy to respond item by item or investigate, but geez.

I will pick just a few items

(2) If he passes health reform without the main base of the Democrats, he also loses a lot of political capital.

Okay Opinion, not fact, but worthwhile discussing. If he passes Healthcare reform then his political capital will be dependent on its success. Not who voted with him or against him. that is my opinion.

Also ...if healthcare reform passes...then 3 years from now anyone who voted for or against it will have to answer to the voters in accordance with how successful it is.

8 years from now, no one will remember who was for or against.
Just my opinioin.

(4) He has been on a world tour since he became president.

It is only viewed as a "world Tour" in comparison to his predecessor. Diplomatic relations with the world is a good and neccessary thing and he has fences to mend.

(5) He is not fully involved in creating the health care bill.

I am not sure I would be comfortable if it was entirely his idea alone...not sure what you are getting at.

(6) Media is now reporting a disconnect between the White House and Voters.

(7) He over exposed himself to the public.

He's the POTUS...I am not sure what this means.

(9) Warren Buffet went on the air today and told Obama to stop spending, or we will become a Banana Republic.

Not accurate. Warren warned CONGRESS about increasing the DEFICIT.
NOT OBAMA to stop SPENDING.

You can spend without increasing the deficit as long as you make up for it with cost reduction someplace else or increased taxes.
FYI - We can debate the veracity of the accounting, but the healthcare reform proposal is designed to budget neutral through cost reduction measures (red pen) and taxes on the wealthy ..incomes over 280k for an ind. and 310k for a family.

(11) Cash for clunker is a disaster.

Everything I am reading suggests the opposite. Confused..

'Cash-for-clunkers' gets credit as car sales skyrocket in July
www.usatoday.com...

Car dealers applaud clunkers program as big shot in the arm
www.usatoday.com...

Cash for Clunkers in High Gear
www-cdn.npr.org...

I have no doubt that pretty soon the car dealers across America will be labled as Socialists by the GOP for applauding the Cash-for-Clunkers program.

As for the rest of your list ...well It gets old going point by point...which is of course why these lists are posted...to avoid specific scrutiny.

Even though he may get his health reform, 70% of the voters already like what they have.

[edit on 19-8-2009 by Pathos]

You are referring to this poll by Rasmussen..
70% of Insured Rate Health Insurance Coverage As Good or Excellent
www.rasmussenreports.com... ellent

* 70% of those WITH health insurance like their coverage according to this one poll. ...not 70% of voters.
This same poll also shows...

one-out-of-four Americans (26%) say that health care costs have at some point caused them to miss credit card, rent or mortgage payments. That figure includes 21% of those with health insurance.

63% of voters agree with President Obama that “we must make it a priority to give every single American quality affordable health care.”

Don't "break out the booze" quite yet. What do we get if Obama gets impeached or retires, etc.? President Biden. No bell-ringer there, I'd say.

You speak of a one term stint for Obama. That still leaves 3 years and 5 months to work their game of deceit and death on the American people.

If we really do make it through the rest of the Obama term, keeping a thread of freedoms intact as a nation, what then? Elect a Republican? As I recall, that didn't prove to be desirable last time. A new congress? Come on.

Let's face it folks, the old idea of a dual party leadership has failed. The congress, executive and judicial system is so corrupted it CANNOT be salvaged, reformed or refined.

To talk like all we have to do is change administrations is to deny reality. All that will save us now is a well informed and freedom hungry populace ready to "put it all on the line". Sorry, I don't see that happening anytime soon.

I wish I could be more positive...and I HOPE I am wrong! TPTB are "smelling blood" and they've become very bold. They don't need "positive polls". Raw power and the willingness to use it is what it's all about now. And they've got that.

Time to forget about pie-in-the-sky hopes about the next election. There ain't gonna be a next election or next President unless freedom loving people unite and REVOLT!

I will not count him out. He is just too much of a smooth talker. If this had been a good economy, Obama would have had his way with little trouble.

Obama may very welll win reelection if the economy fully recovers by 2012.

It's all about the economy.

I hope not!

Obama is probably doing as much damage as possible without realising it.

The USA being under his yoke for another 4 years would be hard rocks to swallow.

I think he's almost certainly a one term President. He built himself up during the race as someone opposite of Washington; he promised way too much. If you think about it, anything he could have done upon coming into the oval office would not have helped him in the long run. He basically promised the world before he got in; it's only natural there will be a huge let down.

Every other politician always runs on "Change Washington." It's politics as usual, and people know that for the most part. With Obama, he really had people hoping and believing.

On top of that, the media HELPING him at every turn over the months, EVEN spinning major gaffs/problems, or downplaying them have really hurt him with middle America.

Over exposure is another huge problem for him. He could probably help his cause if he just stayed out of the limelight every once in awhile. He's on TV more than any other President in history.

I remember the lead up to the 2000 Presidential race; one of the major character flaws of George Bush was actually something desired by a lot of people - his 'straight talk' and 'simplicity.' With Obama, it was his 'charisma' and 'intelligence.' Our country is fickle and we have political patterns.

I mean, they're all puppets - liars - double talkers......but I think he's cooked, no matter what he does from here on out.

We won't have to impeach Obama if he resigns.
Give Joe a chance.
That sounds like a cool bumper sticker. Hmmmmm......
