Last night I was driving home and suffice it to say the weather was perfect in every way. I went on a walk and usually do every night and just enjoyed everything. It is now the beginning of fall. Fall is my favorite season and always has been. It is the most colorful, the perfect temperature, I think and is the most relaxing time of year. I also think one of the reasons I love fall so much is because you don't know what you have until it's gone. Fall was taken from me 3 years ago while I rotted in a jail cell for months. As I peered out the slit of my painted window at the little scenery I had, I was entranced by the moon and I fathomed all the possible things I could be doing. I lusted for the surreal scenery outside my window that I could not properly touch and enjoy. Now I pay much more attention to this time of year as the Autumn nights seem so mysterious and adventurous to me. Don't wait for the beauty in everyday life to be taken from you before you realize how wonderful it is.

~August Night~

Walking with thoughts of distress, I’m entwined
Yet darkness befriends me to speak its deep mind
It speaks if I’ll walk with eyes that can see
The beauties of night will flirt much with me

An evening of August toys with the night
The glistening moon uncloaks its missed light
To illuminate streets of glimmer so fair
To sing for the sun who no longer is there

Silhouette's spawn in the regions unseen
As wind tosses leaves into gutters once clean
Oh colorful nights have I missed for a year
But tonight, Autumn eve is what I revere

While trees sing of life from the wind softly sung
I slink through the moment with a satisfied tongue
The night chilled to perfection, no need for a coat
Even in this small town, a place so remote

As I tempt all the shadows of nooks near and far
They speak to me clearly, if even bizarre
While I listen to voices of night play their tune
I'm absorbed in this nightscape and grace of the moon

Yes I fell deep in love with that night one more time
I found a deep feeling of peace so sublime
But next time I walk to wherever I go
I look forward with awe for August night's glow

So listen I say to the music unheard
Witness the glory, don’t speak, not a word
Let all of your worries dissolve into trance
Only then you'll be touched by August night's romance

Not a wasted word, J.C.

I'm going to have to read it more than three times I'm afraid.
You put so much into it that every passage needs examined for nuance.

I really envy your talent. You've set my own bar a little bit higher and I'm thankful for that.

It's like salt and pepper. You'll have to forgive me, as it is often difficult to express myself. The negative, almost fearful darkness, cut always in the end with love and hope. Yin and Yang.

Complicated enough to make me pay attention and reread it. Impossible for me to soak it all in the first time. It's like a good steak. A steakum is fast, but not the same....a good steak takes a while to eat.

nope, I aint from Texas.

I too love a good savorable, flavorable steak!

Thank you much for the kind words, they really hold meaning for me and I am glad you enjoyed this one. I was hesitant on posting it since its different from my usual way of doing poetry but I'm glad I did!!!!! And to those lurkers that starred or flagged this, thank you for reading it also. You all make the difference.

I get by . . . and I get high . . reading some of these offerings every day.

(It becomes a habit . . . reading someone else's feelings)

But when . . perchance . . they point out things that I previously thought
I was the only one privy to . . such as a smell or a color or a favorite time
of the year . . I find myself saying "Yes, I know what you mean !"

You are one of my favorites. Nicely done.
