Ex-ACORN Vegas director to testify against group

hosted.ap.org

LAS VEGAS (AP) -- A former Las Vegas director for a political advocacy group accused of illegally paying canvassers to register voters during last year's presidential campaign has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge and agreed to testify against the group and another employee.

Ohh Yaa. Let the scandal begin. I only hope that as stories about ACORN and their illegal practices come to light, so will those that surround current politicians and their abuse of the system using such groups.

ACORN reminds me of some of the propaganda groups based in communist and socialist countries. They are the grey area between an illegal politician and a legal one. ACORN does the bidding but because they are not "directly" tied to any politicians, the politicians themselves remain clean.

I hope this sullies the name of many politicians that have use groups like ACORN for illegal purposes. The politicians should be prosecuted as well.

Will he testify?

Better stay off the roads and out of the skies.

Why am I not surprised by this..... I watched the stories coming out just before the election of them submitting names of dead people and cartooon characters on mail in ballets and I knew that we were in trouble.

Yes, but I wonder if a politician that used their services - and has, say, a very high office in the land - will pardon them of their illiegal activities.

I'm hedging my bet on a couple wrists' being slapped, more funds changing hands, another small aircraft accident, and this all fades into the mist.

Something about ACORN's ties with politics makes my skin crawl. I can't quite put my finger on all of it but I feel a very icky vibe coming from that group. Their blatant disregard for laws and until this their ability to get away with it just dumbfounds me. I doubt though that any reverbs from legal action will actually make it to the top of our political structure, which is more than likely where it needs to go.

If he lives long enough. I hope he's got some federal protection. And I mean NOT protection offered by the Obama (in)justice department. Obama and ACORN go hand in hand. He ain't gunna' like this ...

And unfortunately, that's the road block that we'd have to cross to get any meaningful investigation of this group. The US Attorney General's office would be in charge of any nationwide investigation and I highly doubt that they'd be interested in investigating ACORN or any of its dozens of subsidiaries. In the court of law, they're going to get a free pass as long as this administration is in power and the Dems control Congress.

That said, there's also the court of public opinion. The more stories we hear like this (and it seems there's one every week), I think the public will become increasingly skeptical and wary of these groups and the politicians they're associated with.

I know exactly what you mean, those were only the ones that didn't "jive", so the question remains how many graveyards did they visit, and how many "people" did they sign up that could pass the muster, so to speak.

Also I hope this guy follows through, this could bust the door wide open for other cases.

That is exactly the court that needs to have their eyes opened. The problem is that most people do not care until the actions of such groups directly affects their way of life. As far as many are concerned they think that this group is responsible for helping get the first "black" president elected, and therefore can do no harm. Public oppinion still must be educated to the facts instead of fixating on the so called "uniqueness" of this presidency. He is a man, despite the labels of genetics. Once the people begin to realise that fact, the populace can start looking at things objectivly.

The case threatens the group's ability to operate in Nevada, with the possibility that the group could have its status as a nonprofit corporation revoked, said Conrad Hafen, chief deputy attorney general for Nevada.

This is a big step in the right direction - strip them of their non-profit status. And take them down, one state at a time!

ACORN is just the administrative branch of a much larger RICO-class group including SEIU. I know people will flame me for saying this, and sighting Glenn Beck but he laid it out and did one hell of a job uncovering the BS.

I did not realize that. Thank you for citing it and providing us with a video.

The corruption is staggering...

That video I posted was not what I REALLY wanted to post, however it gets a little into it. He actually broke it down to the nuts and bolts if I can find the un-copyrighted version. I am not BLAMING OBAMA. I want to set the record straight. These 2 groups are responsible for his election and now they are exerting thier power.
Here is a better piece...ACORN Breakdown by own members
