The Democrats have indicated today that they may try to pass the health care bill WITHOUT any Republican support:

DEMS PLAN TO GO IT ALONE ON HEALTHCARE.(Drudge link)

WASHINGTON — Given hardening Republican opposition to congressional health care proposals, Democrats now say they see little chance for the minority's cooperation in approving any overhaul, and are increasingly focused on drawing support for a final plan from within their own ranks.

Top Democrats said Tuesday that their go-it-alone view was being shaped by what they saw as Republicans' purposely strident tone against health care legislation during this month's congressional recess, as well as remarks by leading Republicans that current proposals were flawed beyond repair.

The White House spokesman, Robert Gibbs, said of Republican lawmakers, "Only a handful seem interested in the type of comprehensive reform that so many people believe is necessary to ensure the principles and the goals that the president has laid out."

The Democratic shift may not make producing a final bill much easier. The party must still reconcile the views of moderate and conservative Democrats worried about the cost and scope of the legislation with those of more progressive lawmakers determined to win a government-run insurance option to compete with private insurers.

On the other hand, such a change could alter the dynamic of talks surrounding health care legislation, and even change the substance of a final bill. With no need to negotiate with Republicans, Democrats might be better able to focus their energy to move more quickly, relying on their large majorities in both houses.

If they do, and if they succeed, then I see a very real chance that it would result in violence in the street, not necessarily from the average American, but as a result of provocateurs led by the Insurance Industry. They would NEVER allow the public option to succeed, as it would INDEED mean the end of private insurance within a matter of years.

What people forget is that the Corporations CONTROL this country, and the economy, and I could EASILY see an assassination plot similar to what developed in the 1930's, when FDR pushed his socialist agenda too far. Only one General stood in the way of a takeover of the US government then.

It could happen again. I'm not sure that Obama is smart enough to understand who his REAL opponents are- it is not the middle class, but the wealthy corporations who would not hesitate to act, to save their own hides.

Obama's advisers think that they are clever, but in reality, they are amateurs who are so blinded by their liberalism, that they can't see the real threat.

For those not familiar with the attempted Coup D'etat against FDR, I suggest reading the following link:
american..._almanac.tripod.com/smedley.htm

The situation today is VERY similar to that of the 1930's, in fact, eerily so.

The thing is that democratic majority congress actually do not need the Republican votes to push the bill neither the Republicans have enought power to filibuster it.

So like I said I wonder why the Democrats are taking their time to deceive the public while making them believe that they have an opinion on the whole Issue

The bill is going to be passed rammed and shoved up everybody's orifices and is nothing we can do about it..

But to seat and see how in a nation where we are at a historical economy crisis this bill just push the nations economy more down the crapper.

So just get your pop corn and lets join the show.

Yes, but my point is that this may indeed result in an attempt by the Corporations to take over the government, or somehow remove Obama. There is no way that those insurance companies that control a good percentage of the economy, will allow the government to preside over the demise of private insurance companies.

Yes, they will TRY to pass it. But they better be ready to pay the price.

Because if the majority of Americans truly do not want these particular bills, you could see a Republican Congress in 2010. A Republican Congress that could amend what the Dems passed before the majority of it takes effect.

That is an interesting point after all the big Pharma and private insurance business are after the second and third big party donors after the big oil barons.

So no matter what somebody is going to win with this one.

Well taking into consideration that we allowed congress to ram the bail out bill up our orifices with not much impact against the powers that be I wonder how is going to be any opposition running in the streets of Washington for this one.

I love how the journalists on TV are official saying that they don't need the republicans to pass. Not only is it all over congress, its all over the media, too.

[sarcasm] Oh boy! I can't wait for these next few months! [/sarcasm]

I agree with marg6043, but I don't think we "allowed" them to ram the bill, I think that we no longer have a voice in the matter.

Since I haven't heard anything resembling a sound policy on this subject, from the republicans, I'd say good riddance. If Dems pass this bill, more power to them.

Then how mad would you be if the republicans get voted in majority in 2010 and repeal the bill that was just passed?

Shoving bills down the peoples throats is just begging for trouble, such as this thread is mentioning. What are you willing to give up if this bill gets rammed down our throats? Your house, job, car, family?

Because we could lose it all, because as mentioned there is a possibility that the corps. will stage a coup and then will be living in an open fascist country, which judging by your comment you wouldn't mind one bit.

Yes Prof E, I too think the plans are to remove Obama. This is why:

1.) The ex con black Muslim militia have gone under ground. Islamberg is a ghosttown

2) There are news stories of a 400% increase of death threats against Obama by a supposed ex Secret service type who alleges no increase in security has been authorized causing protection to be spread thin.

3) Plants among the media are trying to get the ultra conservatives whipped up and telling them to carry guns to Obama Townhall Meetings. (The response is "It is a setup! Watchout for provacoteurs and bring video cameras!") Americans are not quite as dumb as they seem to think.

4) The constant play of the Race Card instead of looking at the issues. Such as the Bank bailout, Auto Plant takeovers, Food Safety Bill, Health Care Bill, and Cap and Trade Bill, all comming rapid fire on top of a failing economy. These are big issues and yet it is always turned into a personal attack on Obama by the defenders. There is also the fact the Obama's eligibility is still being question and the issue will not stay dead.

So yes I think Obama will be thrown under the bus, the ultra conservatives, tea parties, militias or what ever will be blamed and a race fight instigated.

I forgot to mention the blacks, since they are not derailed by the race card, they unlike the blindly devoted white liberals, have stuff figured out.

Top Ten Ways To Tell Your President & His Party Aren't Fighting For Health Care For Everybody

1.) Their plan doesn't cover the uninsured till at least 2013.
2013 isn't “day one.” It's not even after the midterm election. It's clear after the president's second term....

2.) Their “public option” isn't Medicare, won't bring costs down and will only cover about 10 million people.
The “public option” was sold to the American people as Medicare-scale plan open to anybody who wants in that would compete with the private insurers and drive their costs downward. But in their haste not to bite the hands that feed them millions in campaign contributions each hear, the president and his party have scaled the public option back from a Medicare-sized 130 million to a maximum of 10 million, too small to put cost pressure in private insurers....

3.) The president and his party have already caved in to the drug companies on reimporting Canadian drugs, on negotiating drug prices downward and on generics.
This explains why Big Pharma, the same people who ran the devastatin g series of anti-reform “Harry and Louise” ads to spike the Clinton-era drive to fix health care are spending $100 million to run Obama ads using the president's language about “bipartisan” solutions to health care reform

4.) The president and his party have received more money from private insurers and the for-profit health care industry than even Republicans, with the president alone taking $19 million in the 2008 election cycle alone, more than all his Repubican, Democratic and independent rivals combined

5.) The president's plan, and those of Republicans and Democratic blue dogs too, will require families to purchase health insurance policies from private insurers.

This is something the policy wonks call an 'individual mandate”, under which Individuals will be “mandated” to purchase affordable insurance, though companies would not be required to offer it. In Massachusetts, the prototype state for the Obama plan, a family with an income of $33,000 can be required to spend $9,000 in deductibles and out-of-pocket expenses before the insurance company is obligated to pay a dime.....

6.) The president's plan, and those of Republicans and Democratic blue dogs too, could force you to buy junk insurance.
Think about an insurance policy that costs a lot, but is full of loopholes, exceptions and steep deductibles and co-payments. That's junk insurance, and for many it's the only insurance companies offer......

7.) The president's plan, as well as those of Democratic “blue dogs” and Republicans, are to be funded in part with cuts in Medicare and Medicaid.
Private insurance companies have always hated Medicare.....

8.) The president, with the cooperation of corporate media and the Republicans is trying to make the argument about himself instead of a discussion on the merits of his policy.

9.) The president and his party, and the corporate media have spent more time and energy silencing and excluded the advocates of single payer health care, mostly the president's own supporters, than they have fighting blue dogs and Republicans.

10.) Despite the president's own admission that only a single payer health care system will deliver what Americans want, he and the leaders of his party insist that Medicare For All, HR 676, us utterly off the table.

Republicans in the Senate and House may not want this bill, but the majority of the people do. See my post here. So, I don't think we're going to see a coup d'état. Not by the majority of the people, anyway. And if a minority tries it... it will be interesting.

If it happens, and I hope it doesn't, it won't be Republicans, per se. It will be those rich corporate entities that believe their future is at stake. It is rarely the majority that pulls off a coup d'etat, but a small group of military/industrialists. History shows that to almost always be the way such actions occur.

The parallels to 1933 are truly scary. The country is in a near-Depression, the Fed is monetizing the debt, with an apparent shell game of selling treasury notes to 3rd parties, then buying them back under the table, the nationalization of the auto and banking industry has occurred, and Like FDR, Obama has signaled that he will continue the policies that are anathema to corporations.

Many people feel that the "enraged citizens" will revolt. I really believe that to be extremely unlikely, but the corporate move, is a real possibility.

Prescott Bush

Yes, Prescott Bush and the DuPonts.
Here is a list of the major players:

* Irenee Du Pont - Right-wing chemical industrialist and founder of the American Liberty League, the organization assigned to execute the plot.
* Grayson Murphy - Director of Goodyear, Bethlehem Steel and a group of J.P. Morgan banks.
* William Doyle - Former state commander of the American Legion and a central plotter of the coup.
* John Davis - Former Democratic presidential candidate and a senior attorney for J.P. Morgan.
* Al Smith - Roosevelt's bitter political foe from New York. Smith was a former governor of New York and a codirector of the American Liberty League.
* John J. Raskob - A high-ranking Du Pont officer and a former chairman of the Democratic Party. In later decades, Raskob would become a "Knight of Malta," a Roman Catholic Religious Order with a high percentage of CIA spies, including CIA Directors William Casey, William Colby and John McCone.
* Robert Clark - One of Wall Street's richest bankers and stockbrokers.
* Gerald MacGuire - Bond salesman for Clark, and a former commander of the Connecticut American Legion. MacGuire was the key recruiter to General Butler.

Hahahaha You fail to realize that the corporations are behind this DOH!!! When this bill passes the burden of health care will no longer rest with the big corps but would fall on the tax payers shoulders....

And BTW how dare You compare OBAMA to Kennedy. Kennedy finally came out in defense of the common man and took on the military industrial complex and the banks .... OBAMA is a puppet of the banks and big corporations ... If anything Obama is like Lincoln in that He will start Civil War #2 and this time I just think the free states will win over the slave states ( Banker Controlled NE )...
