I did much research before allowing my daughters to receive this vaccine. In fact, the pediatrician was very insistent that we get this vaccine but I
resisted and went to an MD who was a specialist in adolescent medicine who suggested that I wait until they were at least 16 years of age before
receiving the vaccine. If you decide to get the vaccine there a few things you need to consider to avoid a bad outcome. First, there are NO clinical
studies that look at the risk of administering this vaccine at the same time as other vaccines. Do not give this vaccine with the meningoccocal
vaccine or hepatitis vaccine, there are already reports that this will increase the risk of an adverse outcome. Separate this vaccine from others for
at least 6 months, more if possible. Also, after receiving the vaccine, do not stand up for at least 5 minutes and do not leave the clinic where you
receive the vaccine for at least 30 minutes.
There is a field of pharmacology called "pharmacogentics" and we are beginning to discover important differences among us related to how our bodies
react to medications. Some are fortunate to receive the expected benefit of a vaccine or medication, however, some may suffer a possible life
threatening adverse reaction. One day, we will be able to look at a DNA profile and recommend the best treatment or medication. Until then, it is
best to find out as much as you can about a treatment before you introduce a new substance or chemical into your body.
