Dude, I've changed my opinion on whether or not Tupac is dead like 14 times in my life. When you really start to dig deep into his life and see all of the 7's that pop up, which represent his "re-birth" or resurrection, it makes you think. He started to go by the stage name "Makaveli", which can spell "I am alive", and Machiavelli was some guy, I think a French prince or something, who wrote a book, and one of the things he wrote in there was that faking your death was the best way to fool your enemies. Also, in many of his songs you can pick out lines that just sound like he's giving you hints that he's not really dead. But maybe that's just the human mind trying to convince itself that he's out there alive somewhere, and people are just misinterpreting his words to fit into their idea that he's alive. I've heard that he'll be coming back in 2014, because some people believe that Machiavelli faked his death at age 25 and came back at age 43, but that's just not true. He never faked his death, he just wrote about it in a book, and you know how fast lies can become considered as fact on the internet. There are also tons of videos where people play a line or two backwards, and they hear "I am alive" or something along those lines. Now THOSE are the things that make me mad, I mean you could play an audio recording of a German pornography backwards and convince yourself that you heard "Jesus was a robot" somewhere in there. I just don't know what to think, I mean Tupac wore a bullet proof vest everywhere he went, he rapped about it in so many songs, and this one night he just happened to not be wearing it? His security guard just happened to be ordered to not carry his gun on the night of his murder? The autopsy photo looks exactly like a photoshopped version of the scene in the California Love video (I think its that one) where he's laying on the bed without a shirt on too. All of the negative media attention: the rape trial where he was imprisoned for touching a girls ass or something stupid like that, the court hearing where some guys blamed them killing a cop on his music, the encounter with the off-duty cops where he shot them after they broke his car window, his near death experience where he was shot five times in the hotel lobby at the recording studio, the constant paranoia of being killed everyday of his life, it probably was just too much for him. I think faking his death would be a great way to escape all of the stress and negativity.

Personally, I believe that no, he is no longer with us, and that he was actually assassinated. He was such a revolutionary figure, especially in his last few months alive, that it seems he posed so great a threat to the status quo that he was taken out.

If you’ve ever heard the last interview he gave, he truly sounded like a man on a mission. Here is an excerpt from that interview that gives a good idea of his revolutionary character:

By the next election, I PROMISE, I’m going to be sitting across from all the candidates. I bet you, you know how I be making a- I promise you, I’m not even going to be- I’m going to be so far from where I am now in four years, God willing I'm alive, pfft, it’s on, I guarantee you, we will- we WILL have our own political party.

Unfortunately, when our world produces men with visionary leadership qualities combined with passionate determination and noble aspirations, The Powers That Be do whatever it takes to make sure these great men don’t succeed.

Men like Tupac Shakur don’t come around very often. We lost a good one.

If Tupac became president, that would literally be the greatest thing possible that could happen to America. I don't just say that because I'm a huge fan of his music, I'm a huge fan of him as a person in general. He was just a great guy.

After watching this, how can any person think he wouldn't be a great president? Even with his appearance, which was cool back then lol

I'm sorry but I find it funny how people seem to make this guy out as a saint. His character of a thug talking about shooting, drinking, murdering, killing, etc., etc. is what got himself killed (and BIG for that matter). The guy is dead because he started all kinds of beefs just for more record sales.

I don't know how to post videos on here, but here is the link.

I agree with what you said about not just liking him as a rapper but as a person. To be honest, he really wasn't the greatest lyricist and his flow wasn't amazing. What made him such a good rapper was the emotion he brings when he raps. You can FEEL what he's saying and you know he means what he's saying and not just trying to rhyme words together.

Aside from rap, there was just something special about him. You don't find people like him every day. He was a natural leader and was poised to really make a difference in this world.

Exactly dude, people are always like "Oh man Biggie was a way better rapper than Tupac", but it depends on how you look at it. Sure, Biggie had an amazing flow and he could rhyme for days, but like you said Tupac just had so much emotion in his songs, and you can really feel the words instead of just hearing them. Besides, Biggie released three albums, four if you count Biggie Duets. Tupac has 14 albums under his belt! When you consider what little amount of time that Tupac averaged putting into each album, and how great they turned out regardless of how little time was spent, he is clearly the better artist, at least in my opinion. If he spent two to three years on an album, I cannot imagine how dope it would've turned out. And Tupac could rhyme too, there's no question about it, but he just focused more on the aspect of getting the message across in his music, and getting people to really open their minds and think instead of getting the words to fit perfectly like Biggie did.

Some idiot a few days ago asked me "Do you think Tupac was a good person?", I said "He was a great person, he rapped about problems that this country and the world has, he wasn't materialistic or a sell-out, he put emotion into his music, and he was just a good guy. He spoke his mind without fear of being judged by society. Wherever he would be living at, he would let all of the homeless people in the community come and stay at his house if they needed a place to stay, and he kept it on the down low because he didn't want people to think he was doing it as a publicity stunt." Of course it didn't come out that cleanly when we were talking, but I got those points across. His response?: "Yeah, but he sold crack dude, I watched some documentary where it said he sold crack". I don't think I've ever been so mad in my life, that was the stupidest statement a person had ever told me, and if it wasn't on Xbox Live, I would have legitimately spit in his face right there regardless of his size. Then he tried to tell me that he was a bad person because he shot cops, but I told him the REAL story, that two drunk off-duty cops were harassing him and busted out his car window, so he got out of the car and shot them in the ass. Then he said "We'll just agree to disagree". People like that just make me want to shoot myself in the head, no joke.

All I can say is, I'm sat here with a rush of emotion flowing through me. Its been a while since I've thought about Tupac and just thinking about the Great man brings it all back, never has someones lyrics and emotion grabbed me so hard.
I can quite honestly say " I loved and will always love Tupac Shakur".
Its funny because lately I've been listening to alot of new music of different genre's, but a few days ago I decided to spend the time ripping all my old cd's to my pc and put them on my mp3 player, I play it on random and theres some top class rap music, yet I find myself skipping until Pac comes on.
Dre, warren G, Snoop, Biggie, The Game, Cypress Hill, Eminem, D12, Dmx......just great all of them, but I have to be in the mood, but with Pac, its different, I could listen to his music all day, I don't care what anyone says, In my opinion Tupac IS the greatest rapper of all time.
I'd love it if he was alive and fooled all the fools, but sadly I feel he passed. Way too early.

Also its been a while since I've listened to any new rap music, anyone got any suggestions ?
Nothing about cars, bling, money or bitches, cos they just don't come across as real.
Especially when there only 17

I feel you man. Biggie was a great rapper, but that’s all he was, a rapper. Tupac was way more than that. He has more albums out while he’s been dead than biggie made while he was alive lol!

Yeah, most people only know the things about tupac that the media would say, nothing from his own mouth. It’s like he said in Ghetto Gospel- “If you take the time to hear me, maybe you can learn to cheer me”.

Great post man, same here. I don't listen to rap anymore like I used to, but in the past couple weeks I've just had this urge to listen to Tupac some more and it never gets old. Words and beats get boring real fast, but raw emotion never does.

Have you ever heard of Joe Budden? He's one of my favorites, he puts a lot of emotion and feeling into his songs like tupac did and he's not into all that cars, girls, and money stuff either. Check out the songs "black cloud" or "pray for me".

Cheers Epiphron, I'll check him out, Agree with you on beats and lyrics, some I love, like "still dre" for example but there's something about Tupac's genuine spirit that gets me everytime.
Thanks for replying, its late here now and I got an early start so I'll see you around.

I agree dude. I have all of Biggie, Eminem, N.W.A, Ice Cube, Dre and Snoop Dogg's music, and even though all of them are great artists (Dre is questionable), I always find myself skipping over even their best songs until the shuffle hooks me up with some Tupac. Some days his music is just what I need to hear.

But mainstream rap music is dead, it's sad but true. Everyone is always saying "Oh man, how do you not like Lil Wayne? He's the best rapper alive! He's sold so many albums!", but I can't respect a rapper who steals from talented artists. Once I tell them that he can't rhyme to save his life, and steals lyrics from other artists, they always have the same reply: "Hater, you're just jealous that he is making so much money". What kind of an argument is that? It's not like the amount of albums sold is indicative of an artists talent, it only shows how stupid people are becoming if they go out and actually pay to listen to that garbage. I mean I know we all have our opinions on music, but really, Lil Wayne? He is an embarrassment to humanity. Only a minority of people nowadays actually know what good rap music is, and when I tell them what artists I listen to, they always tell me Lil Wayne, Taylor Gang, and some other phonies are "where it's at". The last album I added to my iPod was 'Recovery' by Eminem, but he's kind of a sell-out now too. He used to be so sick, 'Infinite', 'Marshall Mathers LP', 'Slim Shady LP', just anything he released when he was on drugs was dope. Now that he's clean, he's collaborating with Lil Wayne and Rihanna? I've lost so much respect for him in the past few years. I only listen to rap music, but whenever I'm in the car, since I don't have an iPod car adapter, I just listen to classic rock because any rap music on the radio is just a chorus repeating for two minutes with a catchy beat, and then like 45 seconds total of actual rapping which is just completely terrible and materialistic.

If there is any good rap music out there that's underground and I'm missing out on it, please ATS, let me know, because I'm dying to hear some good artists that aren't just wannabe Tupacs or completely terrible rappers that can't even rhyme.

I too loved the older Eminem stuff, but can't believe he's gone all pop on us, modern rap music comes over as so fake, To be honest there's alot of rappers that I never got into cos I always had 2pac blasting, I used to get so much sh!t off of my folks when I was younger.....as my mum was a church goer, its funny thinking back.
His music will live on forever unlike 99.9% of other rappers, I don't really follow new music anymore but a couple of new artists who I like here in the UK are some of Devlins stuff (community outcast gets played alot) and Tinie Tempah, now admittedly he is pop but some of his tunes are quite catchy.....
Black Haze ??? whats he all about ?

First off, I would like to state my utter appreciation for Tupac Amaru Shakur / Lesane Perish Crooks.

Whether I think he's alive or not..
If he were alive I cannot see him sitting idle with all of the information out there mostly on the internet about the current state of our planet, general consensus is that "some group" of people are "conspiring" against the rest of the people on the planet, most simple answer would be the rich against the poor... aside from that I just cannot see him NOT having a dramatic effect on our current world situation, being a voice.

With that being said though, I *could* see him planning and plotting and making sure there are absolutely no holes in his plan to thwart their tactics, and I'm sure there are many many people who don't even know who Tupac is that wish we had someone on our side that we believe in, not necessarily like him but we just wish we had someone.

and if he's dead physically, his memory and spirit shall remain and is out there as many other fallen soldiers, saints, patriots... and MANY occultists, bankers, politicians, CEO's, Presidents, ... etc... call upon these spirits as allies and guides, it isn't so much that this is bad, it all depends on who you're contacting.... right? (This is AboveTopSecret after-all)

As for the comments about Eminem
I find that Eminems earlier material was a mix of figuring out/trying different flows and writing techniques along with working out a lot of emotional perceptions of his past and what he was going through at the time.

Today, I find that Eminem has matured a lot, his lyrics are hard hitting and convey a lot more meaning. His metaphors and the way he uses his flow to accentuate particular words to make them rhyme even if they don't. Unlike other "rappers" out there today he has creatively meaningful things to say and is very honest with himself in his music.

All in all I think that Eminem could very well be a voice for the people if he so chooses, it seems he's leaning in that direction and he would sell a lot of records because that's what drove Tupacs record sales was his connection to his listeners and the emotional impact that carried over to the listeners.
But fighting the bankers is a tough game to play, Tupac found that out when he announced his plans to enter the political field.

True, Eminem did have that song "Mosh" that took shots at bush, the war on terror, and called for the people to stand up to our government. Great song, I haven't heard anything like that from him since though.

I wasn't necessarily referring to songs like mosh though, ...

I was referring to songs like
I need a doctor
Difficult
All She Wrote
Syllables
Drop the world

He's getting better and better in my opinion, and it's all a learning and growing experience as it is with people who aren't famous, so you can't expect miracles when people have to live their lives too, also in my opinion I believe that when and if he does more songs like Mosh, that they will be ever so better because he had the time to grow and hone his craft even more. At the time it (Mosh) was necessary for the hip-hop community that's for sure with all the crap that was taking place.

If anyone in the "industry" can do it, it's Eminem and I hope he does use his talents to disseminate knowledge that the public wouldn't get otherwise, ya'know unless Tupac comes back...
