“You can just engineer a crime scene,” said Dan Frumkin, lead author of the paper, which has been published online by the journal Forensic Science International: Genetics. “Any biology undergraduate could perform this.”

This adds a whole other level to the DNA claims made by the government concerning DNA identification of the hi jackers. What do you think?

Have the hijackers been positively identified?

Three of the hijackers on board the two planes that hit the World Trade Center have been positively identified. The FBI collected enough evidence from their rental cars and hotel rooms to create DNA profiles of all 10. Because the FBI coded these DNA profiles simply as "K" ("knowns"), medical examiners were able to positively identify the hijackers, but unable to attach names to the remains.

The FBI has not disclosed which of the 10 hijackers have been identified. Robert Shaler, the head of the medical examiner's team, believes that the three must have been in the rear of their plane when it hit the tower. "I still doubt the pilots have anything remaining to collect or analyze. Likely they were vaporized along with many of the innocent victims," he has written.

The nine hijackers on the other two planes have been identified as well - not by DNA analyses, but by a process of elimination: DNA was obtained for the crew members, Pentagon employees and other passengers (using toothbrushes etc. provided by relatives). Anything that couldn't be matched with these samples was assumed to be from the hijackers.

Using the above information it is possible to assume that having the DNA from a hotel room could be manipulated at the crime scene using someone else DNA. I'm not saying that is what happened, but it's within probability considering the reports of those same hijackers being alive in other locations.

They didn't claim to have the DNA of all 19 hijackers. Some were identified through processes of elimination.

Look into how they identified the remains of the hijacker brothers from flight 77: Nawaf and Salem Alhazmi.

What a hack. Figures the first person to comment on this would be a debunker. You miss the point and focus on the exception. Exception noted. However, address the science behind this. Not necessarily related to 9/11 by to the entire criminal justice system and the impact on it.

It won't let me click through to the article, OP. Which is a bummer, cuz I wanted to read it. Can you post some of the text?

That would kind of fly in the face of anyone convicted on DNA evidence from here on out, wouldn't it?

Scientists in Israel have demonstrated that it is possible to fabricate DNA evidence, undermining the credibility of what has been considered the gold standard of proof in criminal cases. Skip to next paragraph The scientists fabricated blood and saliva samples containing DNA from a person other than the donor of the blood and saliva. They also showed that if they had access to a DNA profile in a database, they could construct a sample of DNA to match that profile without obtaining any tissue from that person. “You can just engineer a crime scene,” said Dan Frumkin, lead author of the paper, which has been published online by the journal Forensic Science International: Genetics. “Any biology undergraduate could perform this.” Dr. Frumkin is a founder of Nucleix, a company based in Tel Aviv that has developed a test to distinguish real DNA samples from fake ones that it hopes to sell to forensics laboratories. The planting of fabricated DNA evidence at a crime scene is only one implication of the findings. A potential invasion of personal privacy is another. Using some of the same techniques, it may be possible to scavenge anyone’s DNA from a discarded drinking cup or cigarette butt and turn it into a saliva sample that could be submitted to a genetic testing company that measures ancestry or the risk of getting various diseases. Celebrities might have to fear “genetic paparazzi,” said Gail H. Javitt of the Genetics and Public Policy Center at Johns Hopkins University. Tania Simoncelli, science adviser to the American Civil Liberties Union, said the findings were worrisome. “DNA is a lot easier to plant at a crime scene than fingerprints,” she said. “We’re creating a criminal justice system that is increasingly relying on this technology.” John M. Butler, leader of the human identity testing project at the National Institute of Standards and Technology, said he was “impressed at how well they were able to fabricate the fake DNA profiles.” However, he added, “I think your average criminal wouldn’t be able to do something like that.” The scientists fabricated DNA samples two ways. One required a real, if tiny, DNA sample, perhaps from a strand of hair or drinking cup. They amplified the tiny sample into a large quantity of DNA using a standard technique called whole genome amplification. Of course, a drinking cup or piece of hair might itself be left at a crime scene to frame someone, but blood or saliva may be more believable. The authors of the paper took blood from a woman and centrifuged it to remove the white cells, which contain DNA. To the remaining red cells they added DNA that had been amplified from a man’s hair. Since red cells do not contain DNA, all of the genetic material in the blood sample was from the man. The authors sent it to a leading American forensics laboratory, which analyzed it as if it were a normal sample of a man’s blood. The other technique relied on DNA profiles, stored in law enforcement databases as a series of numbers and letters corresponding to variations at 13 spots in a person’s genome. From a pooled sample of many people’s DNA, the scientists cloned tiny DNA snippets representing the common variants at each spot, creating a library of such snippets. To prepare a DNA sample matching any profile, they just mixed the proper snippets together. They said that a library of 425 different DNA snippets would be enough to cover every conceivable profile. Nucleix’s test to tell if a sample has been fabricated relies on the fact that amplified DNA — which would be used in either deception — is not methylated, meaning it lacks certain molecules that are attached to the DNA at specific points, usually to inactivate genes.

What a hack.

Typical Truther response. Playground name calling.

DNA has always interested me. I have researched it quite a bit regarding 911. Sorry that it upsets you that a debunker was the first to respond.

You miss the point and focus on the exception. Exception noted. However, address the science behind this. Not necessarily related to 9/11 by to the entire criminal justice system and the impact on it.

Almost all evidence can be faked. Truthers as a group continue to expand their list of those that are "in on it." Let's throw DMORT in there too... (along with Wally Miller)

Sorry you took it as name calling...I was referring to the fact that your post hacked my post up to a specific point in an attempt to deflect the issue, without addressing the science of this story.

Yep, the perps have a very clever if somewhat time consuming process of elimination - Accuse random guy with an Arabic name of being a hijacker, if he protests to this he is one whom is obviously still alive apologise and try again.

Once you have no response from the said and accused name you just released - bingo, rinse and repeat until you have your target number of terrorists, in this case 19, make sure that they have some form of resemblance to the aspects you are setting them up for, in this case piloting, which they done very well with 4-5 had flown planes, had flight simulators for Nintendo Gameboy`s and a `How to fly 757/767`s for dummies, Martyrdom special edition` written in Arabic, absolute perfection.

for eight years ats have been analyzing, theorizing and debunking this and related.. EIGHT YEARS.. and to what result? you failed to keep your cool, americains, to let a single attack provoke a war.. who's the self-rightious one now, aye?

I responded to your question regarding the identification process of some of the hijackers.

Again...why am I a "hack?"

The "science" behind the DNA identification process is outlined in the first link of my original post.

I was talking about remains that were found at the Pentagon. Really, are you joking here?

...words....drivel...more words........ which they done very well with 4-5 had flown planes, had flight simulators for Nintendo Gameboy`s and a `How to fly 757/767`s for dummies, Martyrdom special edition` written in Arabic, absolute perfection.

Thank you for proving your ignorance regarding the facts of 911.

I edited my post to clarify for you the hijackers identified by DNA. If you were referring to the pentagon identification then so be it. By the way I am not a "truther," I'm someone who thinks the government ought to answer questions posed by people against the official story. Them ignoring those people's questions to me backed by media name calling and labeling leads me to believe there is a cover up. Not any fact connected with 9/11 makes me think there is a coverup or that it was an "inside job." It's the government's refusal to answer questions that makes me believe there is a cover up...and this should be a concern to any American.
