Walmart, CVS, Best Buy Ditch Glenn Beck (Plus Five More Companies)

www.huffingtonpost.com

Big news today. We've confirmed that eight more major advertisers have pulled their support from Glenn Beck's show -- Wal-Mart, Best Buy, CVS, Travelocity, Allergan (maker of Restasis), Ally Bank, Broadview Security, and Re-Bath.

Overall, twenty advertisers have now ended their support of Beck. We're going to keep the pressure on Beck's remaining advertisers this week, and we'll let you know how you can help.

I hate Glenn Beck and think he is a NWO shill, but is this not an attempt to get him fired because of his stance on subjects, thereby restricting his free speech?

They are pulling their ads because they don't like what he says right?

Are these companies going to potentially lose out on something if people side with him on an issue?

It just dawned on me that these Mega-Corporations can do this to anyone if they wanted to, pull their ads, put it in the news, and try to get them fired.

Your thoughts?

I havent listened to his show in a few months but I dont recall ever hearing commercials for any of those companies.

It's always go to my pc, lumber liquidators, pajamagram, vermont teddy bear, lifelock, a relatively new one goldline, etc...

I've never heard a WalMart, Best Buy or CVS commercial in the 10 or so years I have listened.

What's a Re-Bath?

They are paying a pretty penny to run ads during Beck's BS routine. It's entirely up to them to pull ads. And they don't like what he said, you got it right.
It's capitalism. It's not written in Constitution that advertisers don't have the right to choose with whom to associate.

I think its entirely possible that Glenn Beck is getting close to the truth of what is behind Obama, the Democratic party, and thier affiliates..
If all the connections Beck has made are untrue, I would assume one entity or another would be sueing him..I havent found one..
I would explore the idea that maybe these companies are pulling thier ads, because someone or some group is strong arming them to do so...
Hummmm..sounds like something the Obama admin. would do..
Obama Adm. strong arming companies??..Never in a million years..

Yep. I agree. They would never strong arm any companies. Or fire CEO's of certain auto-makers!

Somehow alot of people think Beck is a disinfo agent. I just think he's onto something and the major Corporations don't like it.
He's probably the cause of alot of hysteria across the nation, because most of the nation is addicted to TV. So, banning his support, lowers his revenue and gets him to be quiet. Just watch.

People drop sports stars all the time for saying and doing stupid things. Is it not plausible yet, probable this is the case and not the big bad scary Obama.. uggh

Fox News and Beck's high ratings speak for themselves. They consistently beat out all other cable news outlets. The advertisers loss not Beck's.

I am sure that there has been some undue pressure applied through the corporate D.C. linked spider web to try and silence Beck indirectly.

Sorry folks, but you can't silence the people any longer. Beck got their attention and the people are running with it. Like him or not, he actually got people to think and to actually raise the questions.

In the words of the late Robert Novak "Always love your country, but never trust your government".

FNC’s signature programs posted double-digit ratings gains in total viewers and the demo. Glenn Beck posted a 130% gain in the time period among demo viewers compared to the same period last year. The O’Reilly Factor and Hannity both posted 31% gains and On the Record with Greta Van Susteren was up 45%.

And what about that guy on MSNBC saying that the word 'socialist' is the new N word?

Nothing on that?

It's not exactly fair man, isnt it two sides of the same coin?

Tell that to Michael Vick. He is having the last laugh when he should be stocking shelves during the night at Wal Mart.

It's called voting with your wallet. If you disagree, contact the appropriate companies and tell them what you think. It only seems unfair if you support the object of the boycott...be it Glenn Beck or Bill Mahar.

I don't think it's an attempt to restrict his freedom of speech. Only the government can do that. This is simply advertisers saying "go sell crazy somewhere else".

Just my 2-cents

Okay guys this is the huffignton post.... I have not seen any where else in MSM or from any companies that they have pulled any of there advertisement for Beck... The Huff is not exactly Mainstream except in the Liberal World.

And I dont understand everyones hate for the man finally a third party guy who is getting the message out there. Granted Fox News is a Right-Wing News group, but who else on the right has a voice on TV, the Left dominates every major news cast.

I agree. Beck is aggressively challenging Obama, the DNC and its affiliate organizations and not surprisingly, they don't like it. I think they're just looking for something to tar him with because maybe he IS getting a little too close to the truth for their comfort. In this particular case, he didn't say anything worse than what many liberal commentators have aimed at the GOP over the years.

If companies want to pull support, that's their right. With the ratings Beck is getting, he'll find new advertisers and he's drawing so many new viewers to their other shows that he's safe at FNC regardless.

Well of course they do.

Hard to get ratings if you're just reporting the news.

Its called the Jerry Springer effect.

You guys are missing the point... The White House doesn't like what Beck is saying; therefore, they are getting their corporate overlords to punish him.

We live in Fascism, not socialism. When the line between Government and Corporations blurs like this, it is the classic example of Fascism. There are no rights, only the illusion of rights, and when the power that be decide to take away the illusion, there will be nothing that we can do.

The notion of pure news is long gone. The notion of just the facts reporting has been dead in the MSM for at least 10 years. The liberal slant has destroyed journalism and has fostered sensationalism and a mind boggling double standard.

I raise one up to the memory of the late Robert Novak. A true class act in journalism.

Your right about sponsor pulling advertising due sports stars all the time for saying and doing stupid things.. But IMHO this is Bas Ackwards.. GB has hit the nail on the head too many times and is getting close to something the big comps don't want anyone to know. Not that I believe everything he has said but in the recent past he has made soo many connections leading back to the source (whom ever the source may be a the airing of his show) but I have yet to hear anything incorret with his information.. No I don't like everything he says BUT, but he is right.. and when you have someone in the lime light who shares and shows this information to the masses it makes you think outside the box.. And as one of the above posteres added - If his information was in anyway shape or form incorrect, he would have law suits out the wazoo..........

You do realize that the advertisers are dropping Beck because he stated that Obama hates white people and white culture and claims that healthcare reform is a way of getting reparations to black people?

All of these advertisers stood by Beck when he was making his other ridiculous claims and shock-jockeying on Fox, but when you get on national TV and claim that the President is a racist that hates white people and white culture, and healthcare reform is reparation to blacks, then you've gone to a place that isn't productive or conducive to debate and revealing the truth.

Plus, I have a feeling that black people probably shop at Best Buy as well and I doubt the company wants to be associated with Beck when he's making claims that offend a good portion of business.
