ISLAMABAD – Security forces captured the Pakistani Taliban's top spokesman in an operation near the Afghan border, a government official said Tuesday, dealing another blow to the militants following the reported killing of their leader earlier this month.

The seizure of Maulvi Umar — the second arrest of a prominent Taliban figure in 24 hours — follows government claims of disarray in the militants' leadership over who should replace their chief, Baitullah Mehsud, after his reported death in a CIA missile strike on Aug. 5.

Umar was an influential aide to Mehsud, and intelligence

Despite Pakistan's or NATO lack of desire to resolve the militant threats posed by the Taliban/Al Qaeda in the region at this point it seems that the Taliban/Al Qaeda in the region have decided to just quit the War.

Something must have spooked them. I won't say anything too bad about the decision this guy made to turn himself in, as Taliban types should be encouraged to accept defeat and reconcile with their brothers following the grave errors in judgement that they've subjected themselves to.
