This website will in future tell about our existence here on Earth. The messages will take 20 years to reach the planet and another 20 years for their messages to come back to earth. Their messages will come if there exists intelligent life on that planet. And we also assume that contact has not already been made with ETs

This is way of telling others there that we exist. And 40 years means in our lifetime we will know if there is life in the universe.

An Australian website is enabling internet users to send a text message to the Gliese 581d exoplanet, in the hope of making contact with aliens or extraterrestrials. The website has been set up to mark national science week in Australia

The messages are being sent to Gliese 581d, a planet eight times heavier than our own located more than 20 light years away in the constellation Libra. Scientists have identified Gliese 581d as the nearest Earthlike planet outside our solar system, and thus perhaps likely to support life.
