I agree completely.. I also agree with ANNED

The Democratic and Western way to solve the problem isssssss:

Wear what ever the !@$ hell you feel like. (As long as it's something. Sorry ANNED)

But the Muslim immigrants are not Western, and are not from Democratic countries..

Maybe the Brits need to add some courses to what it takes to immigrate there? Muslims are about as pushy as Christians when it comes to forcing their religion on people.. if you don't yell STOP sooner or later, they will run away with it. We wouldn't want Christians going around telling people how to dress, so why Tolerate Muslims?

Because they are a minority.. and we don't want to hurt anyones feelyweelings do we?

Like your logic! Rock man ok yes a nice body in a bikini is ok and good eye candy, the burkinis not so much. My point is I don't want them forcing the burkinis on my wife because she wants to go swimming

FORCING her to wear something because she WANTS to do something...really?

Nobody is FORCING her to wear the attire, she can simply avoid swimming for that time period, as you said yourself, because she WANTS to go swimming, she doesn't need to and so she can wait.

I would be highly offended if I went to my local pool and saw people (Maybe not everyone owuld be such a bother to me
) swimming around naked. Well the Muslim people feel the same way about the way we dress when we go swimming. However because they are the minority it is the muslims who are given the limited time to have it their way, and we get the majority of the time to wear the skimpiest peice of swimwear we can find.

Maybe it shouldn't happen, but with everything going on in the world today, is THIS really that much of an issue? I find the people who threw bleach over a women because she told them to be quiet in a cinema to be more of an issue, I find the people who in the closest town centre to where I live who poured a milkshake over a babys face in the street to be more of an issue. But having a brief period of the day...where God forbid I may have to cover up a bit whilst I go swimming, oh no, what has the world come to...

You are absolutely right!!

I mean, she can wait her turn for the non-muslims to go swimming.

In America back before we decided to be equal and stop segregating people, (crazy I know!) there used to be different water fountains for different races.

I mean, the black person could just go to the black water fountain, no big deal, no need to make a fuss. Right?

This is the logic we are using to justify these asshats isn't it?

Did I claim it was fine and acceptable? I said is it really much of an issue, its a small part of each day, nobody is being hurt by it, nobody is being stopped from swimming by it. The only difference is for that tiny part of the day, you have to change what you are wearing...

I simply said there are much larger issues than Muslim people having a small part of everyday where thy can swim without being offended... just as I expect when I go to the pool to not see naked people swimming....and if there were enough people who wanted to swim naked in the pool, then yes fair enough they would also have to have their own special part of the day where they can happily swim naked in the pool.

Oh and by the way, I'm a Christian.

And how is this segregation may I ask, it is the same pool they are swimming in yes? A non muslim can go swimming during this period but must wear a different siwmming costume yes? A muslim person can go swimming at any other time of the day aswell yes? Well then show me the segregation...

Really? Are they that offended with the sight of a human body? Or is it something different? Are they wanting to hide their own female's bodies from our view? I think that is what they are trying to do.

You know, there are times when I read ATS and despair.

In the UK, there are women only sessions, kids only sessions, mother and toddler only sessions, new swimmer sessions, pensioner sessions, and guess what? Other folks aren't allowed in at those times, or have to obey certain rules.

So this is a muslim session, and it has its own rules. So what? No big deal.

You can scaremonger it anyway you like, but in doing so you are only being petty and pedantic, and talking rubbish. ANYONE can book a swimming pool for a period of time, and if you ask the management of the local pool to arrange a specific type of session, they'll normally try and fit you in if there is space.

Its that simple.

And anyone thats claiming it isn't is scaremongering for the sake if it.

Arn't we trying to get women to show off their bodies with all the skimpy attire made for them? Do we not do the complete opposite almost... I notice far more men in swimming shorts than speedos when I go swimming, but far more women in small tight fitting bikinis than in body suits. (Whatever they are actually called, you know the type of swimwear I mean aye?)

The fact that they want to dictate our clothing yet refuse to follow the inverse.

What if we demanded that their women wear bikinis? These "burkinis" offend me. I demand they bow to my 'culture'.

And yet, they don't really offend you, you are simply angry that this has been allowed to happen.

They are not forcing people to change their attire, they can simply avoid swimming at this time as I am sure many Muslims will avoid swimming when it is not that period of the day.

We are not all the same I'm afraid to say, you can't always make everyone happy in one big group, sometimes you have to make things a bit more specialised...and I see no issue with it.

I am a christian and i don't see any problem here at all.

Swimming pools have special times for all sorts of groups here in the UK.
ie, canoeing lessons, diving lessons, water polo clubs, times for the disabled and for none swimmers.
this is just another group that require the pool for thier own pleasure activities.

they are not making anyone follow thier tradditions.

Just because muslims want a time of thier own does not affect those who are not muslim. You just go swimming during the normal public swimming times.

Some people need the least excuse to give the muslime a bashing,

If you want to hire the pool for a childrens party, you can.
Don't see what all the fuss is about here... really don't.

One is a matter of choice, the other is a matter of forcing your culture upon others.

Simple, really.

A group that wants to force all that use the pool at the same time, to follow their religious customs.

Big problem.

It is forcing nobody since you have the CHOICE to not swim at that time. They are not rounding people off the streets pushing them into the swimming pool and forcibly making them wear a certain type of swimwear...or are they? Thats the only way they could be FORCING anything onto non-Muslims.

Just as not having a canoe or a set of diving gear would be a problem also.

Making a story of these things is really playing into the hands of the BNP.
We are so quick to jump on Muslims and anything they do. We accommodate for all different religions in this country, yet it is the Muslim community that is constantly targeted and demonised mainly by a right wing press who for some reason seek to whip up racial tensions.

The hate, bile and hypocrisy you spew never ceases to amaze me. If the canoe club have a week day event, you need to bring a canoe along. If you want go during the hours alloted for Muslims then you need to cover up.

It is that simple, but no, you have to use it have a go because people have different beliefs to you.

You are happy for the US Army to bomb countries that have never directly threatened the USA in order to spread democracy or liberate a people, but a council swimming pool offers 3 hours a week to Muslims (and anyone else willing to cover up) and you have a tantrum. And isn't that the magic word, Muslim.

Next week: At his local dance-hall jsobecky barracks a roller-disco for not letting him wear shoes on the dance-floor.

It frightens me to say, but you give extremist Muslims a run their money in close-mindedness.

Screw them, this is our country.

Im sorry but we dont go over to there countrys and demand that they just deal with our lifestyle choices.

Its like when they got all pissy about England flags being up when it was World Cup and people got made to take them down because muslims got offended.

Your in our country, you dont make the rules you follow them.

Vice versa.

Im not racist or hate certain colours, religions etc but its too far that they come HERE and complain.

This will be a hotly debated topic as always but everyone is entitled to an opinion and this is mine.

This thread still very much appears to be chock full of straight out racism - no other way to call it (by any civil standard) - ATS has clearly taken the mantle of the world wide web home of extremist racism - moderators and owners should be proud of their contribution to society -

I do not think I have EVER seen a forum degenerate so completely and so thoroughly so quickly - there will be problems now for any civil minded individual who has ever posted on this site - it is a world wide embarrassment.
