I believe they are immigrants and second/third generation. At least when seeing coverage of British Muslims not many at all are your typical pasty white Brits.

Oh no no.. poop in the pool is gross and not a laughing matter.
It was when the life guards yelled for everyone to get out, and all the Americans jump out while all the French and other foreigners just kinda waded water looking around at what was going on... completely confused.. swimming in a toilet and having no idea.

I just cannot grasp the mental image of women swimming while dressed from the neck to the foot. It would be heavy, your skin could not enjoy the feeling of the water on it, (you all know how yucky wet clothes feel) and the unattractiveness of it is phenomenal. Have a look:

muslimahswimwear.com...

muslimahswimwear.com...

LOL! Oh yeah, someone wants to hit that! Whatever. That is the whole point of muslim women staying covered up, so no one will want them except the man who gets to see what is under it. How damn selfish is that. What a weird way of thinking.

Is it only strange because you can't understand it?

Listen I don't completely agree with it either however I will respect the woman if she chooses to ware it. I just don't think they should be forced in to it if you want to so be it but if not than I say Don't. But my mind set is completely different from that cultures mind set so that is my 2 cents or Euros for what it is worth.

EDIT THIS POST IS IRRELEVANT

Separate but equal is inheritable unequal. Don't act like it's normal to tell other people at the pools they have to adhere to their neighbor's clothing needs.

Excuse me my good man, but I am quite obese. What if I demand that everyone with a six pack be forced to wear a shirt so I don't feel bad? How would you like that?

And then where does it end after that? This is as sane as banning the wearing of a cow outfit because a Hindu is offended.

If, however, you do want this to occur, kindly leave. A liberal society cannot bend over for a closed society desiring minority.

As to me, I feel this is a kind of warped version of when Hitler banned Jews from swimming. Invoke the internet law all you want, it's a perfectly valid example.

Simply put, F*ck parliament.

Personally, I don't agree with letting your entire arse hang out of your suit, but, for the practicality of the act of swimming, this is a ridiculous suit the women wear. So is the Burka. The religion/way of life is seems to me to be a way to constrain women, to rob them of their very womanhood. And mess their mind up so much that they really think they enjoy only the reaction of their mate when the clothes come off, come on, it is a way to keep your woman straight. If this practice is thousands of years old, or 5 yrs old, it doesn't matter, it is purely designed by a man to make women unattractive until a man is ready for them to 'be attractive', or show them the goods.

Perhaps what you've written was in response to someone else's post ?

I'm not in favour of ANY minority dictating to the majority -- particularly when the majority just happens to be the HOST population

Agree with you wholeheartedly.

We're talking fundamentalism here. It's odious.

As to the issue of the swimming rules:

Do they also have days where Muslims are banned from the pools?

Do they have any other days that are _____only (fill in the blank) days?

Is there a way to check and make sure no underdressed Muslims are swimming on the days that are not desinated to be muslim days?

What is the dress code on all non muslim days?

Therefore, NO-ONE is going to make you wear Muslim dress to swimming pools IF you attend the NON-muslim sessions, ok?

It's only during the MUSLIM sessions that Muslim attire must be worn and respected.

Anything can be sensationalised if it's quoted out of context

You said it yourself. if you don't attend Muslim ones.

That is segregation and "separate but equal" BS

Muslims can go right ahead and organize their own meetings. But they have 0 right to force their views on others while they do that. They can do whatever they want. But if I want to go swimming in shorty shorts while they do their thing, they're going to have to live with it.

So what why do you care? It is none of our business what these people ware. They have standards and so do we they are as different as day from night.
My issue is them forcing there standards on us! It is wrong you don't see me trying to force people that I work with to ware a yarmulke because it would make me feel more comfy. It is ridiculous you would not do it I would not expect you to! Nor would I force it on you.

It would be like me saying Hey ether you ware the Jewish Ninja throwing star or your kick out of here.

I refer to the yarmulke as a Jewish ninja throwing star because im a Jewish ninja. I know you’re jealous.

Oh Oh! I'm starting to get a bit older and less perky than I used to be before three children. When my husband goes with me, I REQUIRE all the perky women to be less obvious about their perkiness. A burkini and maybe some extra padding!

It is for my marriage, and it is for my personal mental stability.

Oh....wait....man it seems so much better when you say it is because God told you so.

Wonder if Muslims are prevented from attending public swimming pools OUTSIDE the 'Muslim clothing' hours ?

From my experience, Muslim males aren't interested in looking at their own women in neck to knee. Instead, they're all over the place, making filthy suggestive, sexist remarks to NON-Muslim women

Maybe the other side of the 'Muslim only' swimming hours should also require Muslim males to keep right away from public swimming pools during non-Muslim hours ?

And maybe there should be Sharia law which prohibits (and I mean arm of the law here) Muslims from watching non-Muslim tv, from watching non-Muslim porn, from speaking to non-Muslim women uninvited, from attending non-Muslim dances and gatherings.

After all, we wish to respect their sensitivities and beliefs.

We would HATE them to become sexually aroused, poor things, as result of seeing non-Muslim women and children.

Maybe Sharia law should require Muslims to wear special goggles which would screen out all non-Muslims ?

Or maybe Muslims should get a country of their own and never stray from it. That way, they can dictate how things will be.

Maybe Muslims should be given a place like Palestine, as the jews were ?

Better still, let's make that an island. No-one goes in. No-one gets out.

Will people please stop attributing to me posts which were written by someone else and to which someone mistakenly responded in the first place ? Thanks. Surely it's not too much to scroll back .. read the post that offended you ... and respond to that person instead of sheep following sheep and citing mistaken attribution after mistaken attribution.

I did NOT post the quote that is being attributed to me.

Your contradicting yourself, and don't try to justify it by turning it around the other way. It's still separate but equal BS.

The law should be simple. Do your thing. You can't make others do your thing. You can say your thing is better, you can ask others why they don't do your thing, you can protest that they aren't doing your thing. But you cannot force them to do your thing.

End of story.

Don't go into hypotheticals and don't try to justify it by reversing the situation.

If you're going to quote someone, why not make sure you get it in context instead of cherry-picking what you want to see.

My initial post attempted to put the OP in context.

The thread title stated: ' Swimmers are told to wear burkinis'.

But a reading of the article linked in the OP explained that this requirement (to wear burkinis) is imposed during 1.5 hours per week, approx.

My initial post was interested in placing the thread title in perspective.

I have posted several times since.

I suggest you put things in correct context also if you intend quoting others

What is it to me? Nothing really. I am just stating my opinions on this so called religion and it's way of suppressing women by the means of control. That's all.

I also express my concern over the safety ( along with the ugliness) of wearing such attire to swim in.

If these women want to be controlled by the men in their 'religion' then so be it. I am not affected by it either way. I wouldn't deal with it, I would see it for what it is, mind and body control, and kick it to the curb.

Oh, I also threw in a statement or two about the issue of this pool being segregated to accomadate the suppressed women. There. Did that just about cover it for you?

edit to add: BTW, when I see one of these head covered women in my area, I laugh out loud. Yes. I know, you are thinking how rude I must be, but I cannot help it. It looks ridiculous. 100 degrees out and you got your entire head covered cause your hubby and religion says don't you dare let anyone see that head of yours, they might think it is pretty.

I hope that when I laugh out loud, they get it. What do I want them to get you ask? I want them to get that they look ridiculous, and that the only reason they look ridiculous is becuase they are covered up like it's 1999, BC.
