U.S. food companies seek easier sugar quotas

news.yahoo.com

Large U.S. food companies have been pushing the Obama administration to ease sugar import curbs, citing forecasts for unprecedented sugar shortages that could result in higher retail prices and possible job losses.

In a letter to U.S. Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack dated August 5, companies and groups that include Kraft Foods Inc, General Mills Inc and Hershey Co warn that "our nation will virtually run out of sugar," if a USDA forecast is accurate.

More job losses coming in the sugar industry it seems. This is totally not good. More and more job losses means more and more homelessness. Is this also a sign of upcoming famine?

Also, stuff like high fructose corn syrup will be used more frequently. That stuff is really bad for you.

Are they going to be declaring a depression any time soon? Or will the elites keep pretending things are getting better?

Why?

I could assume but would like your reason.

As far as I can tell, companies will just find a substitute for sugar. And as op stated some of these substitutes could be just as bad or worse than sugar.

Not great news. More people will be without jobs. Less people will be spending money, so more job losses.

And all corporations will do is replace sugar with high fructose corn syrup and artificial sweetners anyway.

The sugar industry is one of the most powerful on the planet. It is almost impossible to buy a refined product in a grocery store that does not contain some. Fact is, the rich keep getting richer, the poor, poorer. I believe all motives for conspiracy should look at this fact first. Fact 2 is, 7 billion people. The rich cannot be liking this unless they have some way to deal with dwindling resources, pollution, global warming, rampaging epidemics or nuclear war. Or, they have sold their soul to the devil and are required to ruin the earth.

The rich do not like such a large population. Maybe they fear that too many people to control can lead to uprising and they would lose their power? So, cause famines and control the food to help wipe people out.
