The whole country from the very seat of the President all the way down the pike has become a side show.

ATS simply mirrors the arguments and disagreements happening in the real world.

And just as a reminder - if we don't believe in freedom of speech for people we despise, we don't believe in it at all.

Your profile of my type of personality is almost exactly spot on, great job I think your the first to truely understand it. I'll try to answer your questions in order.

1. New ideals will always seem odd at first, I believe if you don't give it a try who knows exactly how things would work out. Just because a bill is put into motion doesn't necessarily mean it can't be changed.

2. I think that the people in the positions are what we have to deal with at the current time, however qualified they might be. Running a country is the hardest thing to tackle on Earth and truthfully no one is ready for that job. I just try to have faith in the good that things will hopefully work out. If not commence every revolution you'd like.

3. Exactly it's a little of proving my point of the ratio of people opposed to what I said and also to give my perspective on the topics at hand. A different taste is always going to rub people the wrong way so I suppose it may have been said to strike some nerves as well.

4. Agree absolutely with the subject of 10 people being introduced to an idel but here lately that seems a little unjust. I think many here are against more then for and the people on the fence are lacking.

5. Agreed Obama's voter tactics are exactly what got him in office being hip and new is always more exciting then old and dusty.

6. I'd like to know how many voters like myself stayed undeclared and will vote for what they truely believe is the better choice. I agree if everyone just votes dem to vote dem then the system is essentially doomed.

7. Of course how better to win over a population then free things. I although think some of these free items should always be available, healthcare being one. I will say that some free items like the stimulus is a bunch of tom follery.

8. Only if the world worked the way it should, a common man with a workers morals is always better in my eyes then any snub nosed politician. But sadly that will never come to pass.

Great post I hope to hear from you again soon.

You asked :And what exactly is a TRUE AMERICAN?

Ok ... can't resist ... I'll bite !

Really, what could be simpler than to answer this question ?

A TRUE AMERICAN is a person who believes in the absolute sovreignty of the individual to the pursuit of life, liberty and happiness without regard to religious orientation - just like the constitution says.

Like I said - very simple !

I'm sorry if I haven't been able to reply to everyone I have a dinner to attend then I'll be back to further more questions, hopefully many of you have a better understanding of who I am and for that reason we can have a more civil debate. I got a little carried away at first I'll try to stay calm. Thanks for all the great responses... On either end.

Ah that is the definition of foley my friend, knowing what side one is on. I stated I hope that good will over come, I never stated which end that would be coming from or whom would deliver it. To suggest that someone is evil essentially corrupts the soul.

Couldn't agree with you more B ...

However there is a price to pay for such liberties. Namely that those who wish to engage in sincere, honest, and earnest political debate are often drowned out but those screaming dogmatic cacophonies at each other. This attitude is pervasive on ATS and across the board and drains the political process of its intelligence and effectiveness. Not to mention how tragically easily they expose themselves to manipulation by taking such positions.

This is not a party issue, it's an ego issue.

So many folk believe that they are their thoughts. So if one of their thoughts or positions is challenged they perceive it as a personal and emotional affront and their ego will trap them into defending it beyond reason. Thus we get the endless "oh yes you did oh no I didn't" perfectly captured in this thread as a self evolving microcosm.

You were pretty clear in the OP. You want those who don't agree to not post.

I'm as upset at Bush as I am at Obama. How do you think Independents feel when demonized by both Parties.

You love Obama so much that you would squash dissent and free speech on a forum like ATS where it is cherished? Think about that, would you please?

I think that the debate keeps us free. Its when people want to silence the debate that I get nervous. I think everyone should keep on yelling and ignore those who would impose their will on them. I often hate what people say, but I want them to keep talking.

I don't know what you are getting at?

I am open to opposing views, if they make sense. If the opposing view doesn't make sense and just ends up turning into bash the messenger and not the message and name calling I'm not going to take what that person says seriously.

If people can learn how to debate rationally without attacking each other then people have a chance of opening a persons view to an alternate way of thinking.

But making threads like this and then trying to say I'm not open to alternate ideas is crazy talk.

I used to be a tried and true liberal couldn't tell me anything, then I woke up and realized that what they and I were preaching doesn't work. I have awoken to the same silly arguments that people use on here I used to be a purveyor of those arguments myself.

So before you go saying I'm not open to differing ideas you are going to have debate rationally with lots and lots of facts to back up your case on any issue when it comes to debating with me.

Just for the record when you make threads like this, and then offer no reasonable answer for question it will just make it that much harder to convince me what you say is the correct thing to do.

As a conservative, I'd have to agree with the OP. The difference between a conservative and a "right-winger" may be fairly subjective, but there is a difference. William F. Buckley was a conservative, Sarah Palin is a right-winger. [...] Wing-nut threads would die a natural death if no responses were made.

I don't tipically respond just saying "I agree with you", but I have to say it, yours is the most intelligent post I've read in a long time. You're a true conservative and I salute you, and this comes from a centrist (with some leftist leanings) who shares a lot of your conservative ideals. Well said Sir.

Well that didn't make matters any better,

So a right wing nut job can't have a valid opinion either I suppose?

[edit on 123131p://bSunday2009 by Stormdancer777]

I think anyone has the right to an "OPINION". The validity of it depends on many things and many times the answer to that is complex. The problem with WINGERS (left or right) is that they see the world in BLACK and WHITE most of the time, and in many instances both have valid points, BUT to them their opinions are the ONLY valid ones. So WINGERS in general don't contribute much to a better America but rather they fraction it, and America doesn't function at its best fractioned. So, I ask all WINGERS, could we, for a day, put in each others shoes? Can we have dialog? We don't have to be friends, but let's start with the things we have in common, and I would bet they are quite a lot.

take care ATS,been fun-I should thank the mod for freeing up some extra spare time for me.

go have a talk with a republican and after your done with that travel across town and discuss the subject without another republican, you'll get pretty much the same answer with maybe a few slight differences and I mean very slight.

You can do the same with a democrat. who by the way most of them are democrat by default, for a handful of reasons, abortion, welfare, or just don't like the big mean republicans, but know nothing of politics. Which one are you?

So my point here is that the Right Wing, the Republicans, are the ones that are becoming (if aren't already) the facists, the nazis, the communists,

Look up the definition of these terms. Mussolini said that fascism is the merging of government and coporations, or in Obama's case, the US government controlling 60% of shares, (which may as well be 100%) of GM. As well as many banks now. Or how about the Nazis? Hitler was a leftist. Nazi meant NAtional soZIalistisch. Socialism, is a leftist ideal, one step below communism. Study politics. It's not an opinion that the communist party of the 1930's called themselves the "Intellectual Left"

Is the religious and political views that these people fear actually the ideals they are producing? Are we going toward a Christian type day of reckoning because they want it to happen? In

I don't even know where you would come up with this one, considering how if you were a crucifix in school, you can be suspended if you don't take it off. Or how the 10 commandments (which our laws were founded upon, btw) were removed from a court. Religious persecution is GROWING in our country. As was said in Orwell's children, in reference to creating a communist nation, First, God must go. Because the ideals behind religion, teach that the government is not the highest authority. So you need to eliminate the competition.

And last but not least. If EVERYONE is saying the same thing, maybe YOU should do a little un-bias, open minded research into what is really going on. Also, our country is a republic. NOT a democracy. Which is why so many republicans are upset with the way this liberal president is running things. He is going against the constitution and what this country was founded upon. Democracy leads to liberalism leads to socialism leads to fascism leads to totalitarianism.

"Democracy is nothing more than mob rule, where 51% of the people can take away the rights of the other 49%" - Thomas Jefferson
"Democracy is two wolves and a sheep voting on what's for dinner. liberty is when the sheep has a gun." - Benjamin Franklin
