Russia isn't as powerful as the former soviet union and would not be able to sustain major military operations outside its area of influence such as an invasion of western Europe. Nato has lost a lot military capabilities since the end of the cold war and without the backing of the US is in the same boat. Russia has around 6000 main battle tanks still in active service and around 10000 in storage. The bulk being T-72, T-80 and a few T-90, very capable tanks. The Russian air force/ air defence forces have the capability to defend Russia from any threat poised by NATO. Lets not forget about the 5000 nuclear weapons still aimed at the west, it would be a very foolish nation to pick a fight with Russia.

I don't see us having a war with Russia. There simply is too much to lose, and not enough to gain. What I *could* see happening is that we'll sit back over Georgia, and Russia will sit back over Iran. I'm pretty sure we'll wind up going after Iran, because the idea of them having nukes is very unsettling.

I don't see any sort of conspiracy to depopulate the earth. Whatever elite there may be needs bodies to do the grunt work. The more people, the easier to replace them, the less they have to pay them or give them rights. Same now. Many people = human life is worthless, human rights can be violated freely. Few people = can't get enough people to do the slave work, you have to pay them more, they get rights, all kinds of horrors (if you're the elite).

with ll the pissing around I think if they were to make a land grab, it maybe via "CANADA" since they are poking a stick at us ... so maybe its a multi prong thing to get the US stretched thinner than it already is.

Several problems with this youtube video that demonstrate the people speaking know very little about what they are talking about:

1. S.Ossetia is not Texas to you Yanky's who think it is. S.Ossetia has been part of Georgia for over 1000 years. Regardless of the fact that they were all part of the Soviet Union until the 90's, Georgia proper and S.Ossetia were part of the same country. So it's Georgia who has separist problems, not Russia.

2. Soviet Subs patrolled during the cold war, and life went on.

3. Where's the evidence that tanks and other military hardware are headed towards Georgia??!

4. I don't think China/Russia are resigned to the fact that they will one day have to fight the west, but are preparing much in the same way that we are just in case.

Oh and the propaganda video of the military power can be made for any country that has tanks and planes etc. It ignores the failures, the shooting down of their own planes over Georgia and the tanks breaking down etc. I'm sure an even more outstanding demonstration of US military hardware can be done. But I'm sure we could make videos showing how crap both military's can be at times as well.

Every military has strengths and weaknesses, and Russia is nothing compared to NATO, except for its nukes. China/Russia alliance would be a threat though conventionally!

But nobody wants MAD. It seems that these folks speaking on the video have the impression that people are suicidal nowadays. Would Russia risk nuclear war to invade Georgia?? Would the west do the same to defend Georgia?? Same with Ukraine..... It just doesn't seem plausible courses of action! But then again humans are rarely predictable!!

Majority of S.Ossetians distinguish themselves as Russian though and have russian passports.Georgia should let them be or they will have to kill every single one of them and then take the land.As for this scenario of nukes flying everywhere,i doubt it very much.The big players in the world would never go to war with each other except economically.The military industrial complex can still make a pretty penny by invading countries that can hardly defend themselves.Start a war with China or Russia and everything in America,Europe,China and Russia will be one giant glass crater by the morning.

Ok, i think the real threat here is in the Middle East, if Israel and Iran attack each other that will have huge effect's on the rest of the world. Now its obvious that the rest of the Arab Nations will back Iran and if a Jihad is called we are all going be in the S**t, especially us in the UK seeing as there's 1.5 million that we know of residing in major city's so you can triple that figure for a start!

Do any of you really think Iran will be bothered by sanctions when China just gave them 3-4 Billion to start building there own refinery's? On the flip side do you think US, UK Israel ect will accept a nuclear Iran? Either way, this one's jumping out the pan and into the fire, when is the question, not if.

Lets not forget NK here either, they wait for there debut on stage also. Im sure Mr Clinton went through the script one more time with Kimy when he visited

And if i'm not mistaken, isn't Israel also involved in assisting the Georgian army? You have to ask your self why are the US and Israel so determined to defend Georgia against Russia. I think it's because Israel knows that a Russian invasion of Georgia will be the first stepping stone in the march down to invade Israel.

Hmm this is interesting.. 2 questions come to mind.. what makes you think the Russians have removed the illuminati, and what makes you believe the drama is already over?

Something that many people do not realize, is that Russians aren't like Westerners. They literally march to a different drummer, and have a completely different set of standards and values than we have.

Russians will always do what they think is best for Russians and Mother Russia first. They could care less what the West thinks of them.

The second thing is, we under value and underestimate the will of the Russian people. Russians are not stupid, nor are they technologically ineffective.

Granted, politically they shifted gears and put up a front that they have abandoned Red Communism...however that is only partly the case.

What they have right now is Communism Light! ( which is where we are headed )

While they have allowed some good old fashioned western style Capitalism to flourish in Russia...there still are constraints.

Make no mistake; Vladimir Putin is still running the show. He is staunchly pro Russia, and is a war hawk. Russia will never see eye to eye with the West.
They will also ally themselves with China every time. They share cultural influences, dialects and people.

I have a healthy respect for the Russian citizen. I also wouldn't turn my back on them. If you know what is good for, don't screw with a Russian. You just may end up with radioactive elements in your latte!
