WASHINGTON — Pressed by industry lobbyists, White House officials on Wednesday assured drug makers that the administration stood by a behind-the-scenes deal to block any Congressional effort to extract cost savings from them beyond an agreed-upon $80 billion. Related Centrist Democrats Upbeat on Health Care Bill (August 6, 2009) The Caucus: Talk of 'Enemies List' in Health Care Debate Times Topics: Health Care Reform Drug industry lobbyists reacted with alarm this week to a House health care overhaul measure that would allow the government to negotiate drug prices and demand additional rebates from drug manufacturers. In response, the industry successfully demanded that the White House explicitly acknowledge for the first time that it had committed to protect drug makers from bearing further costs in the overhaul. The Obama administration had never spelled out the details of the agreement.

First of all...if this is true...that means Obama is selling out to the drug companies who still stand to make TRILLIONS of dollars off of the American people by overcharging them for prescription drugs.

Second....Obama said he would make the meetings transparent and air them on that anyone who spoke against the best interest of the people would be called out and exposed.

He didn't do it and it's a lie if this deal is true.

Also...i just wanted to add...if Obama administration didn't come to a compromise...then you would see what you are seeing with the health insurance companies...

An ALL OUT CAMPAIGN demonizing any proposal that would damage their profits.

It's all about money...corporations DON"T CARE ABOUT YOU.

I don't see any CEO's saying they want to help everyone...THEY DON'T!

They DON"T CARE. As long as the system stays afloat enough for them to keep their money and don't matter.
