Global Warming Ate My Data

www.theregister.co.uk

The world's source for global temperature record admits it's lost or destroyed all the original data that would allow a third party to construct a global temperature record. The destruction (or loss) of the data comes at a convenient time for the Climatic Research Unit (CRU) in East Anglia - permitting it to snub FoIA requests to see the data.

This is no coincidence. These files were deliberately destroyed to prevent third party investigation into human-caused global warming. These people have something to hide, and they are doing quite a good job of it. Just in time for a FoIA request, the information just happens to have disappeared? I don't think so.

Naturally the argument will be that since the data is lost, something must be done now to combat the anthropogenic climate problem. No data? Action now!

Professor Phil Jones, the activist-scientist who maintains the data set, has cited various reasons for refusing to release the raw data. Most famously, Jones told an Australian climate scientist in 2004:

Even if WMO agrees, I will still not pass on the data. We have 25 or so years invested in the work. Why should I make the data available to you, when your aim is to try and find something wrong with it.

Yeah, nice excuse. Ummm...because it should be peer-reviewed by other experts like science is supposed to handled? Why should it ever have not been publicly available online even for a moment? It should have been a priority to make it available.

Really, it's about concealing fraud so that at least certain people can save face by concealing their deceptions and possibly salvaging their careers.

Perhaps an official inquiry of some sort is in order. I wonder if they can be charged with any crimes.

Very eloquently stated. If I could give you more than one star for that statement, I gladly would. This data should never have been concealed in any way, shape, or form. And the fact that it is speaks volumes.

Good find! So now, if I understand this correctly, they don't have the historical data someone else would need to prove that the whole 'global warming' is just a lie.

it's too bad that a FoIA doesn't include the right to go physically LOOK for this your self. I'm sure something could be recovered. Hell, they can find a cookie from a porn site you visited thirteen years ago and they can't find reams of historical data.

They're going to need to fire someone to save some face. I wonder who the poor janitor is going to be.

Thanks. Citing confidentiality agreements is very lame. I hardly support those in any area. They definitely have no part in this sort of endeavor where policy is made from the results that controls our everyday lives. Really, I think all the research based off this data must be thrown away and collection started from the beginning. This time there are no storage excuses that's for sure.

Or, at least some of it, yes.

I agree 100%. If this were any other field of scientific inquiry, that's exactly what would happen, and it shouldn't be any different in this case.

.....I'm tired of people running the world behind closed doors. The professor's excuse was pitiful.
Imagine I said no you can't read the bible just believe in God? Seems people wont do that but they'll do it for global warming...hmmm....seems that the only people that worked out for in european history were the elites like the catholic church.
I see many parallels in the metaphor, but i'm hoping someone will come along and say, they're right there, there's no problem, this guy didn't have exclusive access, just click on this link, nothing is out of order.
...somebody should pay this guya visit.

I wonder if one of the signs of the impact of man-made global warming is the tendency for 'officials' to spontaneously shed their sense of shame and decency....

Nahhhhh!

I'm sure the fossil record will show they evolved without such vestigial appendices.

Thanks Maxmars, I needed a good chuckle after finding out about this.

It is a very apt metaphor. The whole man-made global warming theory really is just a new religion.

Stars for both of you.

What they try to hide is the fact that Global Warming is major BS.
