The American empire has not altered under Barack Obama. It kills as brutally and indiscriminately in Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan as it did under George W. Bush. It steals from the U.S. treasury to enrich the corporate elite as rapaciously. It will not give us universal health care, abolish the Bush secrecy laws, end torture or “extraordinary rendition,” restore habeas corpus or halt the warrantless wiretapping and monitoring of citizens. It will not push through significant environmental reform, regulate Wall Street or end our relationship with private contractors that provide mercenary armies to fight our imperial wars and produce useless and costly weapons systems.

It's true really. The Democrats, like the Republicans, are bought and paid for by corporate America. His 'change' slogan duped a lot of people into believing that their was 'hope' for America to restore it's democracy.

The writer goes on to quote Nader who laments that the youth of this country is passive and the working class is broken. They've been threatened with outsourcing so many times that they dare not question their corporate masters.

The Democrats have branded themselves as the only alternative to the cruel policies of the Republican party and it seems like they succeeded at least one more time in suckering liberal America into believing that they will take action to break the corporate chains that control government. Of course Obama, Pelosi, or an other bought and paid for politician won't do it on their own.

Nothing short of a popular insurgency reminiscent of the 60's and 70's will motivate them to start acting on our behalf.

“They [administration leaders] don’t see the distinction between public power and corporate power,” Nader said. “This is their time in history to reassert public values represented by workers, consumers, taxpayers and communities. They are creating a jobless recovery, the worst of the worst, with the clear specter of inflation on the horizon. We are heading for deep water.”

Great post. I agree with you and Nader on this subject.

Sigh, he would have made a great leader too. Would have shook things up.

Thats why I think so highly of Mr Nader. Hes a real fighter. Always has been. Straight and Honest, just the way I like em.

His assessments of our political situation are clear and precise, accurate and erudite.

Obama = Bush = Clinton = Sell Outs

New boss same as old boss. No surprises here.

Im glad Nader is still kicking. We need more people like him.
