I know ATS has always been a home for those who wish to voice their opinion on how our system is broken, the end is nigh, we're headed for trouble, etc. These voices, in my opinion, should be heard - so that the subconscious of our society realizes that something could go wrong, and there is no perfect system.
What troubles me is the recent increase in fear - so much so that a reasonable
percentage of our society here in America seem to believe it could all come
crashing down like a house of cards. Maybe there is good cause for this...

However, the reality of our system is that much of it's strength lies in a belief.
A belief that the system works, and is not broken. Take that belief away, and what
do we have? What are we left with?
Anarchy?
Economic collapse?
Revolution?

A terrifying irony would be if the fear-monger's words turned out to be a self fulfilled reality.

Or, maybe "they" want us in a state of fear. Maybe this is a conspiracy.

Either way, isn't our best bet, in a time like this, to keep our heads and be cautious of extremes?

Reality.
You remember reality right?
You just said the word so you might know what it means.
Take away the lies and the fake broken corrupt systems and you are left with REALITY.
The word Anarchy is made up by the psychopaths to describe a state where a few selfish evil greedy psychopaths no longer get to tell everyone else what to do.
How it was before these fake corrupt evil selfish greedy systems of rule were crept into place to benefit the few at the top of them.
Therefore the thoughts that Anarchy is some horrible dark evil thing exists only in the minds of the power junkie control freaks who are the only ones who lose under Anarchy.
Unless you want to believe how they tell you to.
Therefore the idea of Anarchy actually frees the many and only takes away from the selfish greedy few who sought to make everyone elses lives their own.
Anarchy does not mean what you are led to believe it does.

I'll take a reality of lies over a reality of death and suffering any day.
I'm not arguing against conspiracies, I'm arguing that us loosing our heads is no way to strengthen the cause - if any.
I'm not big on conspiracies, but when I see our society ripping itself apart (and I hope I'm not the only one), I'm going to say something about it.

As a wise green man once said, "fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering."

I'd feel much more secure about the country I live in if the general undertone of our society was one of caution and not fear.

Caution implies an understanding before action.
Fear, more often than not, is without understanding and is emotion based.

Yoda is an idiot. Just goes to show Star Trek is superior to Star Wars.

Anyhoo, fear leads to self-preservation. It is more powerful than anger.

Fear can be a good thing..
But when a large percentage of the population is fearful, it tends to be a bad thing.

A dismissal of reality is ignorance.

If you work in the business world, project teams need to know what risks exist in order to define a mitigation. If the manager dismisses a risk, and the risk becomes reality, that manager may be dismissed as well for being negligent.

Someone who lives their life ignorant of risks should not be a husband or wife or parent. In fact, they should have guardian assigned to them.

I'm not sure I agree with your premise on what holds people and society together. I don't think it's been belief. I think it's trust. And I think that trust starts with trust of oneself, one's own perceptions, one's ability to tell truth from lie, right from wrong. I think what holds society together are these real human abilities.

The people who want to destroy our society and enslave it are not just trying to make us afraid. They are trying to destroy our trust in ourselves and others.

What the truth provides, assuming it is the truth, is a chance for us to predict with better accuracy, and to act to avert disaster. From the standpoint of survival, I think that is one of the best arguments for knowing what is really going on.

I haven't argued against knowledge or being aware of risks.
Much of what I'm talking about is not being knowledgeable.
I'm talking about panic without reasonable cause.
I'm talking about what happens when enough people actually believe "the end is nigh" and confidence in the system collapses on itself - along with the system.
We support our own system.
Without our support the system fails.
Without confidence, the support wavers.

Imagine if everyone suddenly lost confidence in our economy.
The stock market would die overnight.

Read this thread and tell me we are fear mongering..

www.abovetopsecret.com...

ATS can be a great source of information regarding long term trends it seems. I am more inclined to believe those of common sense, cool logic and an understanding of basic economics than I am inclined to believe a man in a suit making a few hundred thousand a year to tell me everythings gunna be A-OK.

The WORST place to get information .... is the MSM.

Hrmmm....

All economic indications are showing we are in a declining economy in a deflationary period with a dropping consumer confidence as well as purchasing power.

...

The markets have moved up at break neck speed.

The two are no longer connected, as many have contended for years and years.. the Real Economy and the Markets due to deregulation and the Casino atmosphere can no longer correlate. If we follow logic, and sound economic principle, a Stock shouldn't be priced to much higher than a dividend is yielding. Seeing as many corporations are posting losses, the prices of a stock are only worth the projected future gain.. the price to earning ratio would price the Stock market -50% or more than where it's at right now.

The system wants to crash.. it needs to crash.. propping it up is a violation of Capitalist laws of Nature! Think: Walking Dead.

It isn't. The fear-mongering is concentrated on a niche group of tinfoil-wearers. The large percentage of the population still thinks there is a recovery on the way.

First of all everyone has their own mind set and their own set of beliefs. Now many people have mind sets and beliefs that are similar in nature, but they are “never” identical. This simply because no person is identical to the next, even twins although appearing the same will have differing personalities and most times beliefs.

A belief of any nature comes from a certain mind set; that mind set comes from the environment one chooses to live in. It isn’t the belief that is the threat it is the environment that is being presented and adhered to that is the problem. It is what each and every one of us is presented with on a daily basis. Whether it be at home, work or abroad; what you are living in each day is what develops your set of beliefs and mind set that reinforces it!
We don’t need a massive uprising, anarchy or even war; we need to realize that what we are “creating” by being “led” is the problem.

The reality of this phenomenon is that people would rather follow than take the time to get in a good deep breath, think of what it is in said article or discussion that is “causing the fear” and look into it. They would rather “join the norm” and go along with it as apposed to looking into it and forming an opinion of their own. That in and of its self requires the fearful person to face the fear and learn what it is that is truly causing the distress.

There is always that old saying to fall back on being that;” there is nothing to fear but fear its self”. The problem is they forgot the second and most important part. If you are fearful stop and find the reason, look for the truth of it and put it to rest.

It is simple really, but it is a concept and way of life VERY few care to take on due to the nature of having to face ones own fears. It is much easier to say this or that person said this so I am of the opinion that they are right. THEY after all did the research and looked into it and I MUST trust them or else I would have to do it MYSELF.

The problem is a loss of personal thought and personal boundaries. It isn’t some covert agency in the ressesses of some building or a governmental conspiracy at the highest levels one needs to worry about. It is ones ability to face what they fear and get answers that make sense to that ONE person.
Sheep play follow the leader; leaders play follow me. Practice what you preach and don’t be the sheep!
Think about that one for a bit and get back to me!

Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

There is a lot of scaremongering on these forums, especially when it comes to the NWO scenario etc...

Unfounded nonsense.

But the reality is this, America is on the slide. The Dollar was always going to collapse (how on Earth can a system like that NOT collapse?) no one expected it to happen so soon and so suddenly.

It could happen tomorrow because the REAL economy is dead, the only thing keeping the heart beating is the machine of corporate greed. Once something happens in that corporate machine; confidence failure, collapse of outside investment, a run on a major bank, the entire system could collapse within a day. This almost happened once already.

I don't think it's scaremongering to discuss reality.

Or maybe you can just read the news and see something is terribly wrong.

Someone is lying somewhere.

I haven't been on this planet very long, but I learned quickly that there are no consequences, and "believing" can get you into some serious trouble.
