Well, how about retracting your claws, eh? My initial post here, this thread, was directed toward the OP, but you seem to have decided I was offensive or something, and starting jumping down my throat, NOW hurling unwarranted accusatins at me, a person you don't even know.

I don't think there is any specific provison in the Constitution giving Congress authority to form the Social Security system, either. OR Medicaid, Medicare. Do you wish to aboloish EVERYTHING but the twenty or so things you mention from Article 1? Erase it, and start over?? What???

The Constitution, in original form, did not recognize a woman ( or certain ethnicities ) had a right to a vote. Shall we return to the very basics of the core Constitution, and toss out all of the Amendments?

Here is everything congress has the power to legislate over:

But, could you please wait until after I die? I don't have much to look forward to, but I've, like, paid all this money to Social Security during decades of work, and I'd like to be able to get some of it back....

Or, heck with it, guess I can sell everything and go to Hawai'i....that's another country, right?? At least, it's far enough from the mainland, we can just chill and watch the show.....

Whether the thugs and liars like it or not, there's going to be a revolution. There is no other way to beat this group of corrupt kleptocrats that have no regard for the rule of law or ethical conduct. Pro-government lackeys are now in the minority and they are either in denial or running scared. They have nothing to fear from the patriots however, they have to fear the consequences of the government retaliation for everyone.

That one almost looks like a catch-all provision. "...all Laws which shall be necessary...for...Execution (of) the foregoing Powers, and all other Poers..." etcetera.

I remember in Civics classes that the Constitution is considered to be a malleable document. As evidenced by the Amendments, of course.

I think it can be argued (certainly has been) that the Constitution can 'evolve' to adapt to the changing nature of time and technology, and the ever increasing size of the Country.

I'm not that eloquent, there are plenty of far, far better people to elaborate on this than me.

I DO find it interesting, though, about the provision related to the levying of taxes. So many people argue that the IRS is unlawful. Guess you need a law degree to understand it all.

The courts say the "general welfare" clause is the catch all.

Of course, they are wrong because in the 10th amendment they state clearly that only enumerated powers are to be granted to the federal government, with the remainder being reserved to the states.

Original rulings by the courts determined that the welfare of the US meant that the congress only had the power to legislate within the enumerated powers.


There would be no need for this:

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

If congress simply had the power to create any law they wished if they felt it in the best interest of the nation. Again, that is clearly not the case.
