Have you seen Light 1998? This crazy website builds a case for the internet being the Beast of Revelations. One of the most interesting and involved conspiracy websites I've found, and no one has any idea who runs it. He stays hidden for obvious reasons...

Have fun.

EDIT: What the heck? The site hasn't been renewed? Now that's strange. I backed up the whole site a while ago but deleted the back up. I hope it comes back!

Sir Timothy John Berners-Lee, OM, KBE, FRS, FREng, FRSA (London, 8 June 1955), is an English engineer and computer scientist and MIT professor credited with inventing the World Wide Web, making the first proposal for it in March 1989.

Imo, Internet/www/Net is no more a conspiracy than fire or electricity

but, like fire and electricity, it can be dangerous, difficult to control and open to abuse

Not true. It wasn't invented by military. The internet was first invented by many 4 year universities. They used it to store data of students and employees and classes. They would also store documents. They then would share this with other universities. If a student would transfer they would send a transscript to the other university by internet. This was a small network. Then the U.S govern meant build their own network. The military never inventted or had a internet. They had a network. They then connected that network to universities networks. Then later down the road when the hardware got developed to a point where it was cheaper to buy computers by home owners. The U.S government then allowed commerical companies to build their own networks and create a internet.

Internet got the name that way just like interstate. Internet means multiple networks connections.

Then I find out algore starts telling people he invented the internet. Then the internet got developed into what we have today.

I do agree with your point. The gov is invaiding our privacy. I made a thread a while back about finding out twitter sells your data. It's right from the ceos mouth on wikipedia.
They make money by selling your information. Any tweets you create and any cookies you have in your browser they claim it's now twitters asset. If you wiki search twitter you will see this. The ceo made this post in wikipedia.

The US government can buy information from 3rd parties which I am sure they do. They can't use any information you personally provided to the government directly. If you handed over valuable information to twitter they can then sell it to the Government or even hackers. They claim they sell it to marketeers but I know a few people that would impersonate as a mareketeer and would easily get peoples information even when he didn't plan to use it for marketing purposes.

So the only way around this is create a non-profit organization and make your own network. This would be cheap and will get the government out of it. They cannot control private networks.

That is the only thing I can think of.

Yes, but fire and electricity can not be monitored for certain words that make you a target for observation. I am not sure if the government regulates the filters that looks for certain words, or whether it is the internet providers that do, but there are key words that are monitored for, if those words turn up red flags go out and they monitor the users activity entirely to see if there is need for further action to be taken.

The WEB, in my opinion is a great place; it has allowed the government to find many more pedophiles than they would have if we did not have it. It allows them to track people with dangerous intentions, for instance if the same IP keeps returning to the same or similar weapons sites, there is a red flag that goes up, yes they don’t get them all, but you would be surprised at the number they do get.

There is the possibility there are more criminal types because of the WEB, because the ease that the information is available, but I believe there is more, good than bad that has come from the WEB. As long as you do not perform any illegal activities or atrocities on the web, you should have no worries over using it.

To the OP , don’t worry so much about what you are posting, if it something you believe to be important and on topic but not already posted in your thread and not pornography or profanity just post, if for some reason the MOD’s find reason to remove the post or alert you in some way, they will make it known.
